We initially contacted Gemma to assist us in redesigning our large but dated en-suite. Gemma and her team listened to our ideas and helped us to create a beautiful room. We were so pleased with the result we have since commissioned Bayswater Interiors to completely redesign our entire home, a large project that required us to move out for a 6 month period. During this time Gemma and Mel helped us to reach decisions on beautiful designs for each room, without ever losing sight of our own personal preferences and budgets but by also encouraging us to consider possibilities that we hadn’t even thought of. They used their skill and expertise to bring every aspect of the project together on time and showed great professionalism and practicality when dealing with certain pressurised situations caused from external factors completely out of their control. All the staff at Bayswater Interiors are friendly and easy to work with, they all go above and beyond what is expected and clearly have great knowledge and a love for what they do. Gemma and her team have helped us to create a stylish family home that we all love and I would most definitely recommend using them. More...

In a nutshell, my house is a place I am happy and proud to walk into. Many elements of the things I have loved about other properties, or things I have seen in magazines are in my house now! With the help of Baywater we have maximised the potential of our property with regards to the layout and décor of the ground floor. I knew we would not have the time, ability, skill, or eye for interiors to pull together the look or finish we wanted. Jim mentioned the 'wow' factor in his review - and it certainly has that.
We met Gemma & Mel initially, but this review is really a reflection of how brilliant it has been working with Mel more specifically. We were initially quite concerned about getting into either a 'wolly' or just very costly arrangement having spoken with 2 other companies before them. We knew exactly what the space planning and mood boards would cost. The process was transparent, and integrity and honesty was shown when choices needed to be made about suppliers - be it Bayswater's own, or ones we found ourselves. This gave us peace of mind when renovations are such a headache!
Sam from the team also did a lighting plan for us. This made a huge difference to both the look, and how it then helped us guide the electricians during the building works. Everything was planned prior to the building works starting, which meant that further instructions could be provided to builders to accompany the architect's plans. This was hugely helpful to the project, and was a benefit we had not foreseen - but were hugely thankful for.
It was surprising how relatively quickly Mel defined an understood the look we wanted (and could explain it better than we could!). It was then a process of tinkering with specific items to be purchased and making choices around colours and fabrics. That started with a pair of lamps in their lovely showroom! Mel was particularly mindful of, and helpful with, keeping us on budget as it's easy to be swept away by the endless possibilities. She was excellent at helping us weigh up the options ,and make the right choices about what would make the biggest difference to the end result. This was invaluable. Communication was timely and professional throughout. We used their fabrics and soft furnishings suppliers, and can recommend the value of having bespoke items to fit with a look. The soft furnishing suppliers were outstanding. Baywater also supported us through our renovation, and this was over and above what we had expected. It felt like a real team effort between all of us.
I have no suggestions for how Bayswater could improve their outstanding service on all fronts. We are delighted with the end result, but enjoyed the journey also. Whilst I appreciate that many would not factor in an interior designer into their project costs, companies like Bayswater do so much for the interior design industry, and can offer a challenge to many a misperception.

I’m an engineer - what good is an interior designer to me?
I’m definitely at the functional over aesthetic end of the scale, so when my wife suggested an interior designer for what I saw as a functional redesign of our house I was not expecting much.

I was wrong.

The Bayswater team gave me the following benefits-
1) A better layout of rooms. They came up with 10 different layouts and we chose a combo of two of them. Visitors since have commented on the great layout.
2) A better design of the kitchen. We had kitchen designers in to suggest layouts as part of their sales process. Despite this being their full time job, Mel of Bayswater’s design was much better.
3) A ‘wow factor’ - I genuinely let out a ‘wow’ at one point when seeing the soft furnishings in place. A ‘wow’ from me is rare.

How did they achieve this?
They asked us for examples of what we liked. We could be as involved as we want, so my wife led the effort, but I made the occasional contribution or veto. From this Mel worked out our style / preferences and put together 3 example packages. There was quite a bit of back and forth and alternative suggestions for a number of items. Sometimes we ordered the item through Bayswater, as they could get it cheaper than we could, and sometimes we ordered direct. We never felt any pressure.

Would I recommend them?
Yes. Wholeheartedly, as I cannot even think of any reservations or areas for improvement - another rarity for me!

Gemma was amazing at figuring out how to combine our styles, which in it itself was a huge thing!
I'm more about modern and comfortable while my husband is more traditional/Victorian. She found the perfect balance for our Grade II home in Ross-on-Wye while having patience with us since we are overseas!
Our house now feels like a HOME and we love everything about her work. From the planning to the execution!
Super recommended!

Desperate for some help in designing our first home, Gemma was our lucky strike. Thanks to her and her team's support, we were able to work out proper solutions for brilliantly set a three-story townhouse in a very consistent way while sticking to our budget. Thanks both to her creativity and golden touch, we have fallen in love with our place as it is exactly how we had imagined it. We will definitely re-contact her in future! More...

We have really enjoyed working with Gemma. She is a talented interior design professional, who communicates clearly with everyone, even those who are not used to using interior design services. She listened to what we thought we wanted, was patient even when we were not sure what we wanted, and has helped support and develop our own thought process and plans to enable them to reach their full potential.
Gemma has helped us with a few requests, primarily working out how to use a slightly inconveniently shaped room by providing multiple options in a clear way, which she then talked through with us, to work out the way to best use the space given our requirements.
She has also been happy to help with other ad-hoc queries and advice and we have been grateful for her wide network of contacts, which we have called upon multiple times.
She is friendly, approachable and talented interior design professional, with a great communication style. We have enjoyed working with her and are confident she has helped us make the most of our space. We would highly recommend her services.

Gemma is a fantastic interior designer and has recently helped us totally transform our lounge from a cold, bland uninviting space to a gorgeous elegant sitting room with beautiful pieces and which we love using. The new lounge has been widely admired by our friends and it has been so much better and more cost effective working with Gemma than trying to do it on our own where we kept getting it wrong and wasting money! Gemma is now helping us with other pieces around the house and we are really excited by all her ideas. Thoroughly recommend! More...

We approached Gemma to help 'sense check' the design of our extension and to make sure that we had optimised the design to meet our family needs. I first approached Gemma last year for some inspiration for the living room in our "forever home". Gemma listened carefully to our brief and came up with ideas which matched the brief but also pushed us to consider new ideas. Since then Gemma has worked with us on 4 bedrooms and our kitchen/diner. Gemma has balanced practicality (we have 3 children), budget and aesthetics really well and has always been very helpful and flexible. An added benefit of working with Gemma has been access to her network of contacts, covering soft furnishings, bespoke upholstery, carpentry and lighting design - as working parents this has proved invaluable. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Gemma if you need inspiration and advice for your project. More...

I worked with Gemma from Bayswater Interiors to transform our dining room. I can't recommend her highly enough! She was always available, very proactive with pictures, suggestions, pinterest and samples. She makes the difficult decisions about where to start seem so much easier, and saves time and money trawling through websites and magazines. We initially asked for Gemma’s help to find some ‘bits & pieces’ to decorate our home which was very much at half way stage. Over the last few months this has grown and Gemma has sourced us many items and undertaken larger projects. We have recently refurbished a bedroom/dressing room and are very happy with the result. The use of space for the built in wardrobes has transformed the room. Gemma is able to source unique and individual pieces, she certainly pushes our boundaries style wise and we have definitely now got items that we would not have considered before - and that we love! Her contacts & staff are all friendly, professional and trustworthy, we would have no hesitation in using any of them again. Gemma is always friendly & approachable, even when we have been known to contact her at strange times of the day! Gemma was recommended to me by a friend and I first called her in a slight panic as the decorator was due and I had no idea what colours to choose. From the moment she first came to my house, Gemma was fabulous. In an ideal world she would have liked more time to plan but she still managed to put together a great scheme for my dining room and kitchen, as well as the finishing touches for my hall, stairs and landing.

Gemma is an exceptionally talented designer with a real ability to match the budget available as well as the contacts for bringing the whole project together. She suggested upcycling the dining table and put me in touch with someone who could do that and it looks great.

I am absolutely delighted with the results and all my Christmas visitors have been hugely impressed with the end result. I cannot recommend Gemma highly enough. Thank you.

From the very first conversation with both Gemma and her team I knew they not only understood the brief, and would help me achieve the look and feel we were aiming for as we re-modelled our house, but would also be a joy to work with. Initial support began with space planning of a large living/dining/kitchen space - I was incredibly impressed with the layout options provided and the speed at which they came! Their advice and input has ensured that we get the right configuration from the start, with the new space working both functionally as well as aesthetically, and has given me the confidence to make some big (and quite frankly daunting!) decisions re: flooring, windows, kitchen style etc. Practical yet creative ideas, manufacturers’ discounts and prompt and enjoyable to work with, I would have no hesitation in recommending Bayswater Interiors to assist with either a full design service, or elements of. Gemma has a fantastic sense of what really works in a room. She has really helped us totally transform our sitting room from a place we rarely used to one that has us wanting to sit in it all the time. We would never have done it ourselves. She had an amazing ability of working out what our tastes were and then coming up with lots of ideas and suggestions. She has put together things we would never have thought of but it still feels like it has come from us. She is great fun to deal with and is not easily offended if very occasionally we disagreed on things ......but she is usually right. I sent the dimensions of the space and some ideas that I had about style and furniture lay out. After phone calls and emails exchange, Gemma and her team provided a mood board plus a list of furniture (Pricing - Style) which enabled me to save time and money in working out the best way to furnish the place.
The guidance was efficient and straight forward. The team was generous with their time

Court Mews was a development of 6 x 8 bed student properties, 48 rooms in total.

The brief therefore was to provide something that was young, trendy, classy but at the same time fixtures and furniture must be robust, timeless (as a rental property we don't wish to be replacing stuff every year) and keeping costs within budget.

Bayswater did an excellent job of understanding the brief and delivering a specification far higher than anything else in the city which means from a landlords perspective; all rooms were filled at a premium, tenants are already booking in for next year and both tenants and parents alike are over the moon with their accommodation.

Bayswater Interiors designed the interior of the shepherd hut and pod that we launched as well as advising on the exterior colour and design. They also provided the lighting, flooring and soft furnishings and once the construction was completed sourced the smaller items required for the photography shoot.

Using a designer meant we moved away from the shabby chic style that is typical of a lot of our competitors and created a more luxurious product offering. The trade contacts that Bayswater Interiors have meant we benefitted from trade prices, and the shepherd hut and pod were on budget.

We have now asked them to provide further designs for our next project.
