Awful- teachers are unbelievably lazy as they never mark homework (so you have no idea if you’re on the right track or not! ) but then have a go at you when you’ve performed badly in the assessments. Don’t go there expecting to be supported- nobody there could give a toss about you and your well-being.
My English teacher was unpleasant and manipulative, leading me to quitting A levels entirely. Her entire class performed badly in the end of year exam with the highest grade being a C. The people here seem to think that just because we aren’t paying for the education, they can do the bare minimum when it comes to actually teaching us! The only thing you’ll be getting out of this college is low self esteem and failure.

Great college as they try and give each student some independence and allow them to grow. Amazing art department with great teachers.

Both my sons have had a very positive experience at BP. They really helped my eldest to work out what to study after college, at a point where he was feeling quite vague about his future. And they are very supportive of my youngest, especially when he feels anxious about homework. So I’m glad both boys chose Barton Peveril. More...

Having been a student at the college in the 1980’s, I was very sceptical when my daughter said she was considering enrolling. My eyes were opened on a visit; superb facilities and a really nice ambiance. Six months later a very happy daughter at the college and can’t recommend it more than that More...

Barton is a welcoming and friendly college. The modern facilities help make the college feel like a step up from secondary school and the kind and helpful teachers give you all the support you need. There are always activities going on around college, which students are encouraged to take part in which adds to the community like feeling at Barton. More...

A fantastic college! I was a student here between 2012-2014 and thoroughly enjoyed it; I secured my place at University with the help and guidance of my tutor, I amassed a great deal of knowledge that was incredibly useful throughout my degree, and I made lasting friendships with people I am still very close to. My sister is now a student here and is having the same, brilliant experience even though she does completely different subject many years later! More...

Great college, which runs on good standards and modern practices, not just on reputation.

I am profoundly deaf, I received all supports that I needed- Sign Language Interpreter and NoteTaker... Which is they've provided for me. I'm impressed!! Very rare, most college doesn't bother to. I enjoyed my time in BP, if anyone considering to join this 6th form GO FOR IT. More...

I have been studying Business Diploma, Communication and Culture, Japanese and Polish (independent study) and I loved it! Currently I am studying BSc Business and Japanese at Cardiff University . Teachers at Barton Peveril were amazing and I really enjoyed 2 years of studying there! I have received lots of help with English language which I am very thankful for. I loved the library too - very suitable to study long hours More...

This is the best college in my opinion to cater to my learning needs, the staff are incredibly helpful and supportive of students as they combine the best of the academic side of education as well as supporting and developing the individual. So they are more than willing to help you out if you are willing to put in the effort. As well as that there is a comfortable warm atmosphere about the place that really helps new and existing students settle in. The students are incredibly kind and its so easy to make friends in a short space of time. As I was one of the very few people from my secondary school to go to college. And after three days I had loads of friends. There is a huge variety of extra curricular activities and societies available so there is something for everyone to participate in and if there is nothing that you particularly interested in your encouraged to set up ur society of that interest. I highly recommend this college to everyone. More...

The staff and students at this sixth form college in Southampton are a credit to the community. The college offers a warm welcome, and the atmosphere is focused and driven - and filled with students who want to learn, and staff who support them to succeed. Lessons are dynamic and interactive in all areas, and the brand new £5M Science Centre will benefit both current and future students. An excellent choice for sixth form study in Hampshire. More...

Barton Peveril college is a brilliant place to study, I particularly found Art staff were fantastic. You were free within your projects and they were always overflowing with ideas to strengthen your work, and you as an individual. Sociology and psychology were brilliant subjects taught by equally brilliant staff. Providing that you choose a subject you enjoy, the lessons are very engaging and Barton always provides you with the things you need on Moodle, or good advice if you ask a teacher. Everyone's experience varies during college but I found I met some wonderful people in class and I reckon I have learnt far more in these 2 years than I did in the 5 years of secondary school!
Don't got for what your friends do and go somewhere where you feel you can be yourself!

I started this college last September and I absolutely love it. Teachers are hugely supportive and this is brilliant because I have dyspraxia and they are so supportive and provide lots of help. The teachers are soo funny and kind and will push you to do well. they mix the academic section with all the individuals so it's not too full on and they have a buzzing warm atmosphere. Highly recommend it for future students. All the students are so accepting and so easy to get on with :-) More...
