My husband and I are blown away with Luis's skills in dog training. We had worked with 3 previous trainers and training facilities and were starting to accept that we had an overly energized puppy breed that couldn’t be trained. After spending a couple of hours with Luis yesterday and understanding how to approach our puppy we literary feel like we are on our way to having our dream dog. She has completely changed her behavior and it feels like we are back in the driver seat :) Luis also has a compassionate and light approach without having to bribe your dog to understand the commands. Can't say enough good things about Urban Vet Care! They came highly recommended by a friend who foster-failed (succeeded, really! ) a very reactive pup who I know well, so I knew if their dog approves, ours should, too. I wasn't prepared to be as blown away by them as I have been, though. Finding a vet who can humanely interact with a fear-reactive dog is difficult and stressful. On our first visit, I let the staff know what works for him, and they did just that, then Dr. Barone brought him back to me saying he's an angel. (He absolutely is! He's just terrified of vets, and we've unfortunately been to many who turn their nose and make him out to be a nutjob. It meant the world to me that they gave us a chance, listened, and got to see his true colors.) Dr. Barone is fantastic in every way. She even personally responded to a few emails I've sent the clinic (after calling first to check if that's ok for me to do), and she has responded to them within 24 hours. When we had to start our dog on meds, the staff offered that they could either do all the injections for us, or I could come in and record a video of them demo'ing how to do it and I'd take over from there. (I'm laid off, and they knew I'm trying to be careful with money). Who offers that? It's rare that you find someone, especially a vet clinic (sad to say), who will willingly lose out on hundreds of dollars by showing a client how to do something themselves. With that, they ratcheted themselves so far up in my book that I can't shut up about them and have already recommended them to dozens of friends, neighbors, as well as area shelters and rescues. We were starting to have some sibling rivalry with our 14 year old westie and 13 year old shepherd-shar pei mix after 3 months of them living together. Once things started getting physical between the two of them we knew it was time to call Barkbusters for help. After only 3 hours with Luis, I couldn’t believe these were our dogs. They seemed so much more attentive and disciplined. And more importantly they respected us as their leaders. Had a fantastic first visit at Urban Vet Care. Was checked-in, and inside a room within 5 minutes of getting there. Everyone I interacted with was friendly and knowledgeable. I could really tell they genuinely cared about my dog and the patient experience. Dr Graf was fantastic, and we’ve found our new primary vet clinic! Now I’m not one to give bad reviews anywhere because I always try to give people the benefit of the doubt. But with this, it’s been over a year since I had Luis’s help and the entire time it hasn’t sat right with me the way the training went. he did come in on the first visit for two hours to train and did get results and made things better. He did come back again later for one more hour with a little bit more results. The issue is, his services cost $1500 (that was with a little discount) for him essentially to come in for three hours give me a particular collar and leash and some papers with instructions on how to train your dog, and then you’re SOL. After those first two sessions, I called on two separate occasions to try and get more training done because of the lifetime guarantee that should cover all training needs. But he wasn’t able to come back again to do any training and just told me to read the papers and explained that if he needs to keep coming back it’ll cost more each time. (Ridiculous after paying that amount with a lifetime guarantee of training). Ultimately, I did get some results and my dog is a little better, but he is still very play bity and doesn’t have essential training like recall commands and not jumping for example. I did my best to follow all the instructions and read all the papers but that wasn’t enough and because of that it feels like the amount I paid was essentially a scam and way over priced for what you got. I love Urban Vet Care. My dog is so reactive to the vet that he needs to be on two different medications to walk in the door. Urban Vet Care is so helpful and flexible to try to make sure we can continue to get to the vet. They've been extremely accommodating talking about issues with me over the phone to determine if a vet visit is necessary or if it's something I can monitor at home. Our experience with every staff member has been professional, knowledgable, kind, and thoughtful. From the front desk, techs, and doctors, we recommend Urban Vet Care through and through! We recently had an appointment for both our dog and our cat. We really like that we were able to schedule them back to back so that we didn’t have to make two trips to the vet. When we arrived, they promptly got a room ready for our pets, as our dog in particular gets nervous in less familiar places with strangers and does much better in a more private space. Our visit began with Taylor who was so sweet and thorough with gathering all relevant information pertaining to the treatment of our babies. He even knelt down to take notes so as not to seem more intimidating to our nervous pup. His thoughtfulness kept our pets calm and started the interaction with our girls on the right foot. Dr. Weber followed up and was patient, attentive, sweet, and gentle with her care and treatment. She was honest about the pros and cons of different options that we have for treating one of our pets. It wasn’t the most expensive or most obvious thing that she suggested. Rather, she simply presented the information that we needed to know to help inform any decisions we will make moving forward. I have nothing but amazing things to say about Urban Vet Care. My first pup has seen multiple providers at UVC and all have been incredible. Dr. Zambon saved her life in 2020 when she discovered splenic masses upon an exam. They always went our of their way to see my pup who was VERY accident prone. Grace and Karen in the front are incredible and are always so welcoming and accommodating. We have recently seen Dr. Zambon, Dr. Graff and Dr. Barrone and would highly recommend all of them. Dr. Stewart and her staff are literal angels. We just adopted a five year old cat and the transition has been bumpy (urinary issues, ringworm diagnosis) and through it all, she and her techs have been so reassuring and supportive. In addition to providing our cat with top tier care, they've listened to our concerns and fears as new pet owners and accomplished some impressive cat-wrangling feats (thank you, vet tech Katie).
