I've been a member of Bang for about 9 months now and I can say without a doubt that these guys are Incredibles. My wife started training with them few months earlier then me. Beofee that she had tried multiple programs and coaching but couldn't get the results she was looking for. Only 3 months in at Bang I saw her body finally had started changing towards the right direction. The guys there nailed it.Intrigued after a chat and assessment with Geoff I started there as well.In these 8 months they helped me overcome some core and back problems I had my whole life and at the same time they helped me progress on my gymnastics strength training.Did I already say that the coaches there are amazing?Their Hybrid coaching is incredibly effective and more budget friendly than a classic 1 on 1 personal training.Instead of a single coach you get multiple set of eyes on you. Each of them adds their unique touch to your training. The program is really tailored to your needs and if necessary they change it on the fly.If you are tired to training and get average results go see these guys and gals. Having a chat is free and I'm sure you like me will fall in love with them! More...

When writing a review for Bang the first instinct is to write something funny -- this gym has such a great environment you can't help but join in the ballbusting. The second thought was to write about how they make you jacked. People constantly comment on how I look now. But that is not really why I have drunk the kool aid and think Bang is the bomb. The reason I do is that they know their stuff: when I started going there everything hurt on my old man frame. Knees, shoulders, back. Now? I am pain free. And I have been pain free so long because of Bang that I have forgot what it was like to HAVE pain. So there it is. Go to Bang because they will Steve Austin you. Sorry for the swears. More...

I've been working out at Bang Fitness for a little over nine months now, and I thought it was about time I wrote a review.  A bit about me - I'm a "regular" person, not an athlete, but not a newbie to exercise.  I've belonged to big chain gyms, community centres, and frequented small yoga and pilates studios.  I've gone through periods where I've worked out with personal trainers, but for the most part I either did my own thing or took classes, and usually a combination of the two.  Over the past 10 years or so, I'd say I've had a "moderate" level of consistency - sometimes I'd get to the gym, sometimes I didn't.On to Bang Fitness: My experience with Bang has been so very different and so much more awesome from anywhere I've ever worked out.  I do their semi-private training, which is not at all what I thought it would be when I signed up.  I thought I would be working in a group with a trainer, and we would all do the same program - like a small class.  In fact, it's so much better than that.  Everyone gets a personalized program set to help them reach their individual goals - whether those are athletic goals, body composition goals, or anything else you're working on.  You work independently on your program, but there is always a trainer there to help you, correct form, and answer any questions you might have.  It's the best of all worlds - the camaraderie of a class, the personal attention and instruction of a personal trainer, along with the autonomy of working out on your own.  There's never more than four people with a trainer at any one time, so you always get enough attention.  In addition to a workout program, you also get personal coaching on life habits - things like nutrition, stress, and sleep.  This makes a big difference in your results! One of the things that has been really different about my experience at Bang compared to anywhere else, is that my consistency has gone from "moderate" to "excellent."  I chalk this up to a variety of things that Bang provides that I've never gotten anywhere else.  The first is that you have to schedule your appointments - you can't slack off and say, "I'll go later," because your appointment is for a specific time. This is something I always loved about classes - they're at a set time. The second thing is that they're flexible.  I work an irregular schedule.  When I was taking classes, if something came up during my class time, I just missed my class.  If the class I wanted was at an inconvenient time for me, I simply missed out.  At Bang, I'm able to schedule my sessions at times that are convenient to me, so while I try to go at a consistent time, if my schedule changes, I can change my appointment time.  This makes it a lot easier to get there consistently! The third thing is that everyone there is just so crazy nice.  It's a really good community at Bang, and I look forward to going and seeing everyone, both staff and clients.  It's hard to understate the value of walking into the place and having everyone say hi and ask how you're doing, and to know that they actually care.  To know that they care about your success, are there to help you through your struggles, and that they have your best interest at heart.  I even heard them once talking someone *out* of a yearly membership, encouraging them to go month-to-month for a while to get a feel for the place first.  When have you every heard of a gym doing that? This brings me to my final point - results! I've gotten so much leaner and stronger working out at Bang.  When I joined, I was dealing with an injury, and coming off a major illness.  They worked very closely with me, made me a program tailored to getting me back up to speed, and it's been really successful.  I really can't say enough good things about Bang.At first glance, Bang seems expensive.  And it is a lot more expensive than joining a commercial gym.  But when you add up everything you get, it's actually a tremendous value.  It works out to about the same price as taking machine pilates classes, or about a third of the price of a personal trainer.  And it's not fancy.  But it's worth it.If you hadn't guessed, I love Bang.  When I first joined, I thought I would stay for a couple of months, get myself back on track after my illness, then go back to doing my own thing.  It's been nine months, and I have no plans of ever leaving.  Bang Fitness is the best! (Fats, Alcohol and Carbohydrates)Pursued across the GTA restaurant scene by the Imperial forces, she fought valiantly to resist the dark side (inactivity). Using the teachings (workouts) of her Jedi master; Obi Wan 'G' (Geoff) Kenobi, she was able to build strength and improve her mobility. Together with her devoted and wise side master Kazim and her foam roller, she battled and battled....Then finally decided she needed a change of scenery and moved to another galaxy.May the force (i.e. Protein) be with you....Whether you're a budding star athlete or a joe schmoe looking to improve your body composition, Bang Fitness can help you with physical development needs. I've had the privilege of training with Geoff and his great staff at Bang during my time in Toronto and I've definitely noticed some changes in my physical form, energy and mentality. While it wasn't all roses all of the way, they made some great strides over the past year in their staff, facilities and programming. Seriously these guys are ready to rock.  I'm happy with the changes I've seen in myself and I'm keen to continue my progress even though sadly I'll be leaving these good people behind. Whereas before I used to bellyache about lifting heavy weights or pushing massive objects I now find myself relishing round after round of sweaty punishment! What makes Bang awesome:1. People come here to work. There's two main options for gym-goers here: semi-private training under the guidance of  several coaches or regularly scheduled classes such as kettle bells or metabolic circuits. Each visit, I see gym goers of all ages strutting their stuff and pushing their limits. Vanity gym bunnies: check your egos at the door. 2. Old school programming. Prowlers, bumper plates, kettlebells...all the good stuff is here. You worried about form? They'll show you the basics and graduate you on to harder exercises along your journey. Long term success is not compromised for short term results. 3. Passionate and down to earth staff. They'll let you know if you can perform that set with a heavier weight. They're concerned about your movement but they also want to see you working to your fullest potential as well.Caveats? There are a couple. The shower and change rooms are small and merely ordinary. In fact, the whole space will come as a let down to anyone used to training in a boutique gym environment. Substance and functionality before style. And yes, it's expensive. Bang is by no means cheap but the prices are reasonable for what you get in return. You could bang it out (no pun intended) on the machines at your local Goodlife but you would not get nearly the amount of personalized attention and advice at this independent outfit. If you're serious about making some gains in your physical fitness, check these guys out! More...

I love this place. Let's get that out of the way.I had been making abortive attempts to get back into shape for about two years before I found these guys. The problem is that I pretty much hate gyms. I was never a jock . . . My athletic prowess is not exactly legendary. I suppose it's been a lack of comfort that ensured that I never really got sure footing anywhere. Bang had been recommended to me a while back and I sat on it for about six months. I didn't feel like I was in good enough shape to start. I realize that this is kind of like not wanting to hire a cleaner because your place is too dirty but whatever.I bit the bullet and booked an assessment. I'm not going to bore you with details but it wasn't what I thought it was going to be -- namely someone telling me how out of shape I was. I got called on my issues and complimented on what I did well (more than I expected). It was actually pretty educational.I was initially planning on doing personal training (I'm not a group class kind of guy) but I learned that they offered a membership that is sort of a hybrid. Basically, you get a customized program but you share your coach. It's hard to explain but it works really well. You have support and coaching all the time but nobody is babysitting. The staff is there to help you get things done and they're really wonderful in that regard. I've gotten leaner pretty consistently (with a couple of vacation-related blips). I'm stronger and I think I can fairly say that my movement is way (WAY) better than it was before. It's kind of their thing. That's all fine and everything but I think the most important thing (and this is a biggie) is that I really enjoy training now - something that I never imagined happening.I've lived in the Queen West neighbourhood for about three years now. The fact that I never knew these guys existed is borderline ridiculous (both because I never found them and because they don't seem to do much advertising). However, it's pretty much an oasis. I probably should have written this review a year ago but hey - better late than never. Thanks, guys. More...

I've "trained" at all types of gyms.  I use "train" loosely because I basically went to gyms that had TV's, towel service, nice saunas. ..even a bar, and kinda moved some weights around and jogged a bit.  Shockingly, no results - maybe I wasn't going enough, maybe 4-5 days a week was just not enough for the TV and Towel services to kick in.Bang - totally different. No TV's or Towel service - not even really a nice change room if Im honest.  But I go 2 days a week and Im in the best shape I've been in for the last 10 years.  Down 10lbs of fat, up 5lbs of muscle.  Down 2 pant sizes, up 50lbs on my bench press.  Really personalized training and a coaching that makes it feel...not easy, cause its not - but worth-wild and obtainable.  Love it - team is great.  You should go, but not all of you.  Just a couple - I kinda like it the way it is.  Cheers More...

Bang Fitness is amazing and - dare I say it - life-changing! I arrived in Toronto for a three-month work assignment and a goal to finally establish a consistent workout routine as I've been on and off the gym bandwagon for years. The level of personal service and attention to detail from Geoff and his team are what totally engages me and makes it fun. I'll admit the first couple of workouts were nausea-inducing, but once your body becomes accustomed to the routine it actually craves the exercise. The community is great too - the staff greet you by name, and as I was discussing how to implement the low-carb/paleo diet I had been given with a trainer, another gym member chimed in with some tips about how to make things easier such as batch chopping and bagging veggies twice a week. I started coming to Bang Fitness about 2 years ago after feeling completely frustrated with the gym(s) I had previously tried in TO. I was initially interested in achieving purely aesthetic results (strength, good posture? No, I didn't care about those minor side effects -  I wanted abs) and was just not getting the support and guidance I needed at the other gyms in order to gain these results. Even the trainers at these other gyms seemed like they were not 100% interested or dedicated to the job in order to be truly helpful. I know that what you get out of a work out is what you put in - but the problem was... I was just not really sure of how to "put in".  Fortunately, that's when I walked into Bang - and it changed my entire perspective...completely flipped it around - and I have been grateful ever since.Bang has not only changed my workout regime, it has also changed how I think about fitness all together - it's more than a fit, lean and healthy body (and you will get that - and abs too), BUT what it's really about is PUSHING yourself past the point you thought was physically and emotionally possible. It is about teaching you how to gain crazy strength, confidence and a wicked squat while being in a fun and charged environment. Everone there, is there to work hard - it's not about chatting at the water fountain (there isn't one). The trainers at Bang, each one of them, is highly trained and dedicated - on top of all of this they actually care too - they will go out of their way to make sure you achieve your goals - whatever they are. This gym approaches fitness from a 360 degree perspective - they do it all. The equipment at Bang is different from regular gyms (not crowded with machines and treadmills), but specifically designed to push, and develop your performance.  The classes at Bang are also key -  the kettle bell and conditioning classes build on the training that you are getting and ensure that your workout is a perfect combination of both strength and conditioning - it's pretty awesome. This really is the best gym in TO. There is just nothing like it around. More...

If towel service and personal TVs on your treadmill are your priority, Bang Fitness is probably not for you.  What sets this place apart from most other gyms isn't just the style of training practiced - it's the amazing amount of attention and care that the trainers provide.  I'm not even a full-time client, but every time I come here for a kettlebell class, everyone greets me warmly.  It's a shame I live so far away because I wish I could go here several times each week. I feel right at home here compared to most other gyms I've been to - it feels more like a community than a gym.Everyone that works here seems dedicated and focussed on helping every client achieve better fitness - you won't get high-pressure sales pitches or overbearing trainers intent on reaching their client quota.  There is a specific approach/philosophy to fitness that runs through this place, which might seem daunting to newcomers, but overall I suspect most clients walk away with really useful information and results, even if they don't agree with the everything 100%. The focus here is functional movement/ability and strength rather than purely aesthetic results, so you won't hear a lot of discussion about weight loss, although they do help fighters/grapplers make weight for competitions. I'm crazy about the kettlebell classes here - it's one of the most intense workouts ever and you can expect to work hard in every class.  Aside from the occasional nausea, I'd recommend this class for anyone who wants to really challenge themselves.  I admit I'm a big fan of fancy towel service and even the occasional TV treadmill jaunt, but I don't mind forgoing those things for the feeling I get at Bang! 4.5 stars.  If you are looking to really improve your strength and fitness, I highly recommend checking out Bang Fitness.  Their personal attention sets them apart from chain (and I'm sure many independent) gyms .  Try it out at their introductory rate!Pros:+ They really work to understand what you are trying to do, give you a customized program, and make adjustments where required.  I know this sounds like any personal trainer, but I've gone to several personal trainers and they use a lot of techniques I've not seen before, and if you are experiencing injury issues (eg. from playing team sports) they are great for suggesting exercises to help remediate the problem.  High level of customer service.+ They use a high intensity, brief interval approach.  You may cut your workout time with the same or better results.+ You'll learn a lot about proper form+ The exercises are easily transferable to home or travel as they are mostly done using boxes, balls, dumbbells and other such equipment... you'll walk into the gym thinking "ok, where's the equipment" but its there.+ Classes (and all sessions, quite frankly) are highly intense, especially the Kettlebell ones+ The semi-private classes are good because they will put you with someone that is near your level and you can go through many of the same exercises at the same time - fosters camaraderie.+ They push you very hard+ Good nutrition adviceNot a pro or con, but important+/- The price is fair for the quality you get.  It's a lot more than your $50/month at Goodlife etc. but it's a lot less than that $50 plus 4 personal training sessions per month.Note: You can get a reasonable introductory rate for a month that allows you to try it outCons:None of these things are huge deals but should be mentioned- Facility size is small, and the fairly minimal male bathroom is high traffic and would benefit with some better organization- I'd like to see more class availability, particularly in the morning... you need to make sure the times work for you if you are interested in taking them (its not necessary) More...
