What makes a great website?
Planning. Understanding what the site needs to do and carefully planning the best way to do it, so you have a website that is streamlined to fulfil its purpose, no more and no less. Good planning needs a well written plan. Once that is in place, the copy and design will follow in a cohesive and powerful way. The outcome is a website that users enjoy using because it delivers what they're looking for without wasting their time.

Describe your creative process.
Our creative process is rooted in logic and clarity. A good brief saves time and money, so we put in the work up front to make sure we understand what we're expected to achieve. With clarity of purpose, inspiration flows more easily. It comes from all sorts of sources but a founding principle is seeking to be different. There is always a time when you need to go for a walk, smell the flowers and let your mind roam. Or have a bath like Archimedes. But once we've towelled off, the creative spark is stoked through brainstorming, trial and error and then fine-tuning. The client receives a concept that makes sense as well as making an impression.

What inspired you to start your own business?
Working for marketing agencies and seeing the limitations of putting design first. When the words are an afterthought, they become a burden for the client and usually fail to achieve the desired impact.
Balance takes a words-first approach, which means every project is completely thought through and planned before the creative work begins.
This results in a more efficient delivery, which saves time and money and enables a higher standard of work.
