Backyard Getaways has been a pleasure to deal with from the beginning. The crew always made a good effort to communicate with us about scheduling and about the details of our projects. We are currently enjoying the work in our yard even through the winter season. We had a few issues with our lighting system (bulbs burned out) but John was quick to send someone out so that we could enjoy our lights projected onto the winter snow. We used BYG this summer for our pool project and I can’t say enough about how happy we are with the results. We were extremely impressed from start to finish with the personal care and attention provided by John, Dan, Aldo and the rest of the crew. They were all extremely professional, friendly, and a pleasure to deal with. The original estimate for completion was 4-6 weeks, and they completed the project in exactly 4 weeks from the first day they arrived on site to start the measurements and preparing for the excavation. The most comforting aspect about the whole project was the fact that the owner (John, and his father Aldo) was extremely hands on, and they personally performed a lot of the work themselves. All the work was performed with their own employees and nothing was contracted out (in some cases they contract the carpentry/fence work, although in our case they did the fence themselves as explained later), which allowed them to maintain control and deliver on the promised timeline. They were going to use the carpenter they typically contract out for the fence work, but because of delay in the city inspector site visit, his schedule didn’t match with our project, so Dan, Aldo and crew did the work themselves so that the completion of the project wouldn’t be delayed.Aldo was on site every day to ensure everything was done perfectly and on time. The attention to detail was incredible - for example, I witnessed Aldo and the crew laying and relaying the paver stones until they were satisfied with the grading and leveling to ensure it was perfect. Dan (in charge of the design) was on site almost every day as well and showed so much professionalism and expertise in providing design recommendations and also in ensuring everything met with city by-laws and explained every detail and presented all the pros and cons for decisions that needed to be made – e.g., placement of pool equipment, location of cabana pad, location of electrical and gas lines etc. John was on site for a lot of the days – from operating the heavy machinery to personally installing the pool liner to ensure proper fit. On the days they weren’t there, both John and Dan were always available by phone/email/text and would respond immediately if I had any questions. John or Dan would also email me with almost daily progress updates letting us know exactly what stage they were at in the project. At the end of the project, John came over one evening and personally gave me a tutorial on how to work the pool equipment, and on the pool water chemistry. When John left that evening, he offered to answer any questions I might have in the future, and even though it’s been several weeks since the project was completed, John continues to respond immediately to any questions I have.In the end they completed our project on time (exactly 4 weeks), on budget, and to the exact specifications we agreed to in our contract. They had us swimming and enjoying our pool/backyard just in time for what turned out to be the hottest week of the summer. I would highly recommend using BYG. What can we say about a dedicated group of individuals, who not only made valuable recommendations during the initial stages of our project, designed, positioned, and built our in ground pool, cabana and landscaping to my satisfaction, but most important to that of my wife. Backyard Getaways started on the day they promised, and were completed prior to the 3 week time frame that John had noted during the tendering stage. I am writing this letter regarding Backyard Getaways who just recently built a pool for my home. I could not be happier with the quality of work done by this company. I had heard all of the horror stories regarding pool companies, and talked to several other contractors/pool builders, before deciding on going with Backyard Getaways.
My wife and I were sure we were going to use another company until we met John Petrocelli and saw the incredible results of his efforts. The night we signed the contract, we asked how long this process would take; we were told three - four weeks from dig.Four weeks later, once all landscape was completed our pool was filled and running. That is unheard of! Construction always takes longer than what is estimated—not ours—right on schedule! In our estimation, there is no comparison! Everything was done swiftly and accurately. Whatever I was told would happen, happened. There were no surprises.All who had a part of our construction were very friendly and seemed to care about leaving the construction area clean and orderly. If I ever had a question or concern, it was answered promptly. I never felt any sort of regret with hiring of Backyard Getaways in this entire process—always had great support and comfort knowing all would be done and done properly. I had a bit of anxiety thinking this pool construction would cause some grief with the neighbors, inconveniences, and the mess. But it turned out to be a great, clean, well organized project. I had backyard getaways build my pool 3 years ago and i couldn't be more happier, my family and extended family have taken full advantage of it. I love how my house was a gathering point on hot summer days. This year we moved, couldnt believe we were doing this after only putting a pool in not so long ago. but we moved to a house with a bigger pool. I had no doubt in my mind that i wanted the team at Backyard to help manage the new pool, the equipment was different and i was a bit worried about the maintenance and operation of new equipment. As this is our 2nd project we already knew the high standard of quality & service you provide and yet you still exceeded our expectations with this much larger job - huge amount of stone work, huge customized pool with all the bells & whistles, and awesome hot tub! I began to use BYG a few years ago as a referral from a friend. They deserved it and I have referred other friends to their services.
My pool openings and closings are done by BYG. I could do it myself but their attention to detail and service level makes them the ideal choice.
I have had my liner changed by BYG and converted to a salt water system. The work was done on time with an excellent overview of what was required, how much it would cost and the benefits of the products I was chosing.
The best recommendation I can provide is largely due to their responsiveness. Few home renos / repairs go perfectly, however it is the ability of the service provider to take corrective action when required and make sure the homeowner is at ease.

We had our pool installed by Backyard 4 years ago and were and are extremely happy with their fast and friendly service. We have had them open and close our pool every year and they always leave the yard clean and even provide helpful hints for use to keep all working properly during the summer season. Every time I drop off our water sample in the summer it is tested by Daphne and we are provided a detailed report and provide all information to keep our water safe and healthly for all to enjoy. By the way our pool is a salt water system and I would not get any other system it is very easy to maintain and we LOVE it. Thanks to Regi and his team who did a fantastic job on my yard. A total facelift of an existing pool with a new deck and patio. Friends and neighbors are stunned when they see the change.
I have never dealt with a contractor that was so accommodating and easy to get in touch with as Regi. Any phone call or email was responded to within an hour, any issue was resolved within a day. Minor changes were handled immediately with no "that's not in the contract" or "that will be extra". They do their job and they do it very well.

We were looking to replace our existing rock garden with a retaining wall and replace some existing concrete around the pool. One of the major issues was getting equipment in the area to remove the debris. BYG suggested they could do it manually thereby no damage to the property with equipment. From the quoting process to the completion of the project we met with professional, personable and knowledgeable people. Regi was great to work with. He was easily accessible and always responded in a timely manner. The contractors had a tough job removing the concrete, bringing in the materials during some of the hottest days in the summer. They were polite, easy to talk and discuss ideas with. At the end of each day they would clean up and ensure we were happy. The end result was exactly what we were hoping for and more with no revisions to cost or time. My husband and I were referred to Backyard Getaways by a neighbor who had their pool and deck renovated. We saw how happy our neighbors were with their backyard and automatically thought, we need to use Backyard Getaways for our reno as well.
We had an idea of how we wanted our pool and patio renovated. Regi provided us with some ideas, we wrote up the contract and we set a start date.
The transformation was amazing. One friend said "wow...this looks like it is right out of a magazine."
From start to finish Regi was with us all the way. He was available for questions and concerns, to ensuring we were happy with the job that was being done.
Sean and his crew did an awesome job with the patio and pool deck. Our yard was transformed to an oasis. As the job was being done we had so many compliments from family, friends and neighbors. Everyone including ourselves could not wait for the job to be completed just to see the end result of the hard work put into the project. As expected everyone is amazed at the end result and love the backyard transformation.
Customer Service is #1 with Backyard Getaways. Regi ensured we were 110% satisfied when the job was completed. He requested a walk around and a "need to address list " when the job was completed. All the items on our list were addressed and fixed without any questions asked.

Hi, my review is slight different then you may be expecting. A few months ago I contacted John at backyard getaways to get a quote for a pool. It didn't take long to see that John was very knowledgeable, experienced, honest and courteous. Both my wife and I quickly knew that this was the company we wanted to give us our dream pool and backyard. We interviewed two other companies but the customer service and care we received just in the very initial process from John at backyard getaways, made our decision very easy. So we started the design process and that's when Dan entered the picture, I can't say enough about him, he came to the house to measure up the space gave us some great ideas, he listened closely to what we were wanting and Our vision and he came up with an amazing backyard getaway pool design. He came up with such a unique design for the shape our backyard it really impressed us. We tweaked a few things early on, he did an outstanding job to design everything keeping in mind of all our requests and thoughts, even with some very annoying restrictions from the city in regards to a ten feet easement. We were mislead several times by the city in regards to what we could do with the ten foot easement so we designed all the drawings and plans based on their input and got denied all our proposed alterations. Dan was amazing, he was so help during this time contacting the city, developer etc... Trying to get answers, directions, make changes, follow All the city's requests only to be denied again. They did everything they could to help but our dream of a pool was crushed by the city. I would recommend this company to anyone, as I told them they would be the only pool company I would ever have install my pool if an other opportunity were to come up and I move somewhere else. This company is top notch when it comes to design, knowledge and customer service. Not once did they try and cut corners when it came to the design, even when things were looking like we weren't going to get the approval from the city, they never pressured us to make some sacrifices or omit important ideas we wanted with our design just to get the Job done and make their money. They were very understanding that without the city's approval for some basic requests that we wouldn't be comfortable proceeding because we would've had to sacrifice some important things to the design my wife and I had in visioned and we weren't willing to do that. We are a campground located in Pefferlaw with over 200 campsites. One of the park’s primary attractions is a large concrete pool that required new tiles, coping and painting repairs. We contacted many pool companies to come up to Pefferlaw and give us a quote and were disappointed with the lack of companies willing to make the trip. We contacted Backyard Getaways and John was more than willing to come up to Pefferlaw to give us a quote on the repair. The presales support from John was exceptional; he responded in a timely and courteous manner and answered all of our questions regarding the work to be done. John sent us informative emails that took us step-by-step through the necessary repairs in order for us to inform our membership of the entire process. He showed great patience and understanding when things had to be put on hold when membership approval was required. The crew on site led by Dave, were extremely polite and knowledgeable, they took great pride in their work and as a campsite owned and operated by the members these fellows faced a constant bombardment of questions.The overall experience was absolutely outstanding and it was a pleasure to work with everyone at Backyard Getaways, we would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone as they made this entire repair headache free.
