Set in a beautiful garden with sparkling pool, this establishment has a kind of old-world charm. The restaurant was very quiet, and the menu features standard dishes like burgers, tramezzinis and fish and chips. We waited quite a while for our food to arrive and weren’t really expecting much. However my chicken burger was excellent: moist chicken breast, hand cut chips and tasty pumpkin as well. My husband's beef burger was enjoyable too and everything, including the wine, is very reasonably priced. Friendly service completed the picture. The only negative thing about the whole experience (and management is to blame for this) was that when we paid our bill by credit card and added a tip the waiter’s reply was: “Don’t even bother to include a tip, I won’t receive it”. I wonder if this is a new trend, as we had the same experience at Kgalagadi Lodge. Rather mean I think and it makes me wonder if I will support such a place in the future. More...

Avoca Vale Country Hotel is a wonderful little hotel just north of Louis Trichardt and just at the start of the mountain range. The hotel is just off the N1 and the lush gardens cut out any noise from the main road. The hotel is obviously been here a while but that does not detract at all and it has a lovely charm.There is a restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner and the meals were all excellent. This is a nice place to stay, loved the views and green scenery. The staff was really friendly, professional and helpful.I cannot comment much on the food, as we only had breakfast but the breakfast was well prepared, i enjoyed it .I loved the location of the place, it is close to the road and peaceful. I enjoyed my stay, the place also needs some upgrades.Didn't like the carpet in room and plastic shower curtain. Also need to improve their cleaning.Overall - I enjoyed my stay. More...
