This is the ONLY locally owned restaurant in the Medford area my wife and I actually enjoy frequenting. The food is consistently good (wouldn't say great cause we've had tastier Hawaiian fusion food outside the Southern Oregon area obviously), the staff is attentive (but not pushy or annoying) and when Carol is there, she makes you feel comfortable and right at home! It's rare to visit a place where not only the food is good but the ambience is as well.Do try their upside down pineapple bundt cake! Absolutely delicious, including their kimchi! More...

Stopped in for dinner bc they have outdoor seating out front. Street parking available on a busy street. Got their smoked pulled pork plate. Good portion but the steamed broccoli side was still raw. Pork was on the saltier side. Two flies kept hanging out while we ate our meal on this 90 degree day. It was filling overall. More...

What a great experience   We had take-out for a family birthday dinner. My husband loves Hawaiian food  and my son recommended Auntie Carols. The interaction with the owners was friendly from ordering to pick up. All of our food on the Isalnd Style Buffet was delicious. We added the  tri-tip which was moist and flavorable. Everything was packed up and ready for our gathering. Plenty of food and mouthwatering 'TIL the end. Mahalo Auntie Carols. More...

We stopped by here on a whim and were pleasantly surprised. The food was hot and fresh! I had the stir fry bowl with the smoked pulled pork. It was so good! My husband tried the Kalua pork and Huli huli chicken. He loved both of them! Their Mac salad was not as good as others as we've had but still good. We will definitely come back! More...

My husband and I stumbled upon this restaurant by accident. We both like Hawaiian food so we were excited by our find! The food was delicious and reasonably priced. I had pulled pork, macaroni and rice and it was delicious. My husband had Korean spicy pork and beef and broccoli and he enjoyed his meal as well. We shared a pineapple upside down cake for desert. Wonderful. We will be back again as it is on our list of fav. Places! More...

I eat here often. Having grown up in Hawaii, I know good Hawaiian food and siblings Ed and Carol do it right. Don't be put off by the menu's listing of "pulled pork". This is really good Kalua Pig! Hulihuli Chicken, authentic Loco Moco, Teriyaki Beef, Kim Chee, Hawaiian Sun drinks, and real Island Style Curry, all served with Aloha, make a homesick kama'aina feel back in the islands. Also, they make Hawaiian style sticky rice and good macaroni salad, which make all the difference. More...

This is my favorite place to grab lunch in Medford. The owners are very friendly people and the rest of the staff are just as nice. Prices are affordable and you get so much food with their plate lunches. Best hawaiian food in town, in my opinion.Unfortunately they are only open for lunch on weekdays (11am-2:30pm) and are closed on the weekends. More...

I ordered the two meat lunch option with Chicken Katsu and Spicy Korean Pork. Both were pretty good! I also got all Mac salad but I wasn't really impressed with it. It was bland in flavor. Poured some Chun sauce in it to give it more flavor. I'll be back but I'll probably just stick with rice. Staff is friendly. More...

A friend took me there for lunch; not open for dinner.  The place was clean and neat but not impressive - low key Hawaiian decor.  The owner Susan? was friendly, personable and the only one working out front.  Went at 11:30am and it filled up quickly with mostly haoles who must love local Hawaiian food.I ordered the teriyaki pork plate ($10) and was very happy with the taste and tenderness of the pork - thin cut slices over the cabbage salad,  and for me, enuff for two meals with rice and mac salad using Best Foods mayo.  If you're from Hawaii...you ONLY use Best Foods!!  I thought $2.50 was a bit high for tea but....I will go there again  and try some of their Kalbi. Susan is Korean so you know it's authentic.P.S. if you're in Honolulu, must go to Wayside Inn for Hawaiian plate - the place is PACKED &  the portions are over the top! - real local style.  (I don't have any connection with this place :-))Aloha,PPS.  I moved from Hon last year and now living and loving Medford and Oregon...beautiful mountains...lots of rivers...good roads/streets...traffic is light and freeway near to go exploring and I love the changes in weather... If you're looking for a solid lunch place w consistently flavorful, fresh food you gotta put Sunrise on your list. Add to that, a great family run atmosphere where costumer service and hospitality make you feel at home then pepper in their community involvement and you have a recipe for success. Which is why sunrise has been doing Medford proud for years. Ed and Carol have yet to disappoint... I've never personally met someone who disliked or had a bad experience at SC. They've got the typical Hawaiian plate lunch on lockdown... available w 1,2 or 3 meats. Then there's  the requisite loco moco, yakisoba, and Portuguese sausage dishes that really drives home the Hawaiian style. I'm not a hater of no-hos, it's decent and open for dinner... But when I've got the choice, it's Sunrise till the sun sets. More...

Found this gem simply by chance. Was passing thru Medford looking for lunch. We were actually looking for a different place which was closed. Seen The Sunrise and stopped. We seen the good yelp reviews after we ordered.  Wife had vegetable rice bowl with tofu. I had the mahi-mahi fish and chips. Simply fantastic. Great service and great food the wife and I were very very impressed. This place closes at two. The folks here run a fine establishment and take a lot of pride in what they do. Highly recommend this place if you are in the Medford area. More...

I guess I'm a sucker for Hawaiian food, because I have a hard time finding things wrong with all of the Hawaiian restaurants I have had the pleasure of enjoying in Southern Oregon... The Sunshine Cafe is no different! Giant delicious portions! Me and my girl both got the two meat combo lunches, so we shared four different meats... The chicken Katsu was on par with others I've had... The Huli Huli chicken had an awesome Smokey taste... The pulled pork was a touch dry, but had a great taste to it... And our favorite was the Korean bbq pieces, spicy and full of flavor! The Mac salad was creamy and better than any of the other Hawaiian joints I've visited (not that they aren't good at other places)... Choice of white or brown rice finished off the plates, and I usually do one scoop white and one scoop of brown rice for a good balance of flavor...The place is super casual with cliche' Hawaiian decorations donning the walls... The ladies that were working treat the restaurant like their home, and in most case that would be a huge turn off... But in this case, it added to the super casual homely feel that I rather enjoyed! Bottom line is, hit this spot... Its well worth it! ***Eat Local*** More...

Love this place a lot for a quick lunch downtown. Prices are amazing and the food is Ono-licious. Sunrise has great pulled pork and BBQ sauce. Their sauces are so so good. Prices are very reasonable and service is very quick.  They are obviously used to serving the downtown lunch crowd.  They have a nice selection of menu items and I look forward to trying them all out. My favorite so far is the chicken curry bowl - my favorite hard to find Japanese/Hawaiian brown curry. And you get a LOT for five bucks! More...

On a road trip up the west coast and found this treasure based on other yelp reviews. My family and I have been in Hawaii withdrawal and wanted some authentic eats... the reviews did not steer us wrong! We knew ahead of time that we'd be arriving in Medford past regular open hours, so we called in our order from the road. (Call by 3 pm to p/u before 6) Terry took our order and they were actually planning on closing a little early, but she was super gracious, and they waited for us to arrive from 2.5 hrs away! When we finally got here, Terry greeted me with a big smile & welcomed me in. Carol, the owner/chef was in the kitchen cooking up our order of Huli Huli Chicken & Chicken Katsu. They were so kind to have it freshly cooked and warm for us after a long drive with two little ones. Enjoyed my friendly chat with Terry while waiting for our food. We brought the meal back to our hotel and it did not disappoint! The chicken, brown rice, mac salad & lots of sauce definitely brought us back to the islands. Authentic and delicious! Thumbs up from all 4 of us (including the 5 yo & 1.5 yo!) There was more than enough food to fill our hungry appetites & it really the spot. We will definitely come back when we get the chance! I attended a college with a large population of students from Hawaii, and in those four years I learned a thing or two from them about what good Hawaiian food should taste like. If you are looking for some ono grindz, you are in luck, because this is the spot. Their $5 bowls are perfect for grabbing a quick lunch, and it is always more than I can eat in one sitting. The Huli Huli chicken is always perfect, not too dry, and I am a sucker for katsu chicken, which they do quite well. For me, though, the real test is always the mac salad, and Sunrise Cafe's is always spot on! I could eat an entire bowl of it and not regret a single bite! Sometimes I order a second side of mac salad just so I can eat it later on in the day. The whole staff is super friendly and many of the customers tend to be regulars. Combine these two elements and people get chatty, which can slow the process down at times, but the relaxed environment of the place makes up for it. Carol and Ed have a good thing going on, and I'm glad it's going on in Medford. More...

Stopped in for lunch on a whim walking by. I need something to go to take back to work and get me through the day.Place was clean and comfortable. Service was extremely friendly and food is good.I ordered the Muhi Muhi Chicken. I tried it before adding any sauce and it was very flavorful. But I am a sucker for sauce, so I added a to go cup each of Chun sauce and Terikayi. Sauces were not too thin like other similar establishments. Meat came pre-cut in strips, which I like.I would definitely go back and I would choose them over the other options in the area. Prices are reasonable for the amount of food you get.It would be a nice addition if they offered good Kimchi as a side. I am addicted and love it with this style food. More...

I happened upon this place this morning as I was leaving Medford, where I spent a night on a road trip from Seattle to Santa Cruz. The owner/waitress was extremely nice and I chatted her up a bit about Oahu, where she's from since I got back from an 8 day trip there. I just got a Portuguese sausage, egg and cheddar breakfast sandwich on an English muffin which was delicious and only $3.50. I got a good, big iced coffee for $2 as I left for the road. This place seems authentic and quaint and definitely a great neighborhood Hawaiian joint. There's plenty of room and good and fast service. More...

Hawaiian food in Medford is here!! at it's best...The ribs are the BEST in town, the huli huli chicken is beyond compare and the rice bowls are full of flavor like nowhere else.  A new storefront remodel has the place bright and full of daylight and the owner does so much for the community, live local buy local.  Yakisoba noodles are my new addiction here, try them with the chicken or the tri-tip, or the best ribs in southern Oregon! Growing up in Texas and living much of my young adult life in Boston, the only time Hawaii came up was as a possible destination for a honeymoon.  So,when I began coming to Medford in the late 90's, Hawaiian cuisine was a new to me.  Boy have I been missing out! Upon entering the Sunrise Cafe you are immediately taken to the islands.  Then you are greeted with the warm smile from Ed and the crew as they welcome you into their little oasis on Main street.. Sunrise's food blends traditional island favorites with Japanese and Korean influences.  I recommend Ed's pulled pork in any form he offers. It is definitely the "star of the show".  Also, I recently had the Curried Chicken Katsu (Japanese Breaded Chicken) which is amazing if you enjoy a nice curry that is not too spicy.  Most of the dishes can be accompanied by some of the famous Macaroni salad that has a perfect blend of mayonaise and other spices.  If you are real local and find yourself on the "mainland", Sunrise offers a Loco Moco (white rice, hamburger patty, fried egg, w/ Brown Gravy on top) and plenty of SPAM.  Please stop by and say hi to Ed.  You will leave there feeling like your ready to Hula or Fire Dance... :) Well, at least I can guarantee you will have an amazing meal and help dowtown Medford thrive at the same time! While visiting Oregon to see family, my brother wanted to try here since he had read a review in the local paper saying it was good.  Well, it was good !  The owner/chef and staff were very nice and helpful with selections.  I really enjoyed the pork, it was delicious.  My brother liked the huli chicken, I thought it was a little too salty for my liking.  the salsa and coleslaw which came with my tacos was great.  I tried his macaroni salad and it was very good.  The portions are generous, we left very satisfied.  Will come here again when up in Medford. The menu is a combination of Hawaiian-American themed food and all sounds good. I had the fish tacos with a side of brown rice. The tacos came with 4 small (4 nice?) tortilla and four pieces of delicious white fish (I'v forgotten what kind but the menu says), shredded lettuce, mango sauce, and a side of slaw. Thank you Yelpers for helping us find this place. After a LONG drive through icy conditions, the Sunrise Cafe was a very welcome break.I ordered the Loco Moco & my husband ordered the MVP plate (Pulled Pork, Beef Teriyaki, and Huli Huli Chicken) The sides were rice, macaroni salad, and my hubby also got Coleslaw. It was very tasty, however I was wishing the portions were bigger for the price. Guess I'm used to what we get in CA. Ed & his wife were very welcoming and gave great service.
