What a delight working with Michael. As a musician planning an EP release, I contracted with Michael for an original "Auger" album cover design. I provided a photo and Michael created an out-of-this-world off-beat art version of myself. The artwork for the front and back cover are perfect for the tone of the project. His responsiveness and enthusiasm make him a joy to work with. He finished his work on-time and cheerfully responded to change requests which must have interrupted his work flow but he didn't complain in the slightest. What information do you need from a client before you start work?
My rates are based on what you need created, how soon you need it, and the usage rights you require. I look forward to bringing your ideas to life.
What sorts of printing projects do you usually cater for?
Auger Artwork Studios specializes in custom illustration and design services.
Describe your creative process.
I first ask my clients for detailed instructions on exactly what they want created. (The more details the better.) After receiving a 50% down-payment of an agreed upon rate I get to work. Once finished, I send my client a low-res proof of the design to approve. At this point I offer one round of free minor revisions (if needed). Then, after receiving the balance due, I provide the client the final high-res final and grant the usage rights agreed upon.

What do you love most about your job?
I love the diversity of being a freelance artist. One day I'm illustrating an album cover and the next I'm designing a logo for the latest start-up. The role of a freelance artist is to bring other people's ideas to life and I enjoy creating solutions for my various clients by adopting the best appropriate method to communicate the specific message they want to impart.
What inspired you to start your own business?
Making a living as an artist was my plan from childhood. I've been lucky to have had a clear path to achieve this and I am fortunate to be able to make a living doing what I love.
