I had an excellent day attending a beginners sewing class last week. I met lots of lovely people (including Jen of course) and gained the confidence to go home and use my own machine. I am now very excited to try and make lots of clothes and accessories in the coming months. I would recommend Jen's courses to anyone wanting to learn how to sew. I am sure I will be back for more classes in the future..... More...

Thanks for the review Fiona. Glad you enjoyed the class and I know you’ll love using your gorgeous new machine.

This is a great course and really enables you to get sewing. Jen is very patient and explains things well and gives the reason why you do things a certain way. You make 3 items (tote bag, iPad cover and a makeup bag) and you get such a sense of achievement that you have managed to make something in a two hour time slot. I would thoroughly recommend this course. More...

Very comfortable and inspiring setting (very artistic) for four students. Jen was very friendly and patient, made us coffee and served biscuits, there was light music in the background. The course was very informative and we left with a tote bag we made ourselves. The entire experience was a lot better I hoped it would be. I will definitely be taking more courses with her. More...

I recently bought an overlocker and was looking for a sewing class or workshop specifically on how to use an overlocker. Most sewing classes are aimed at beginners or for regular sewing machines, so I was pleased to find Jen's "Know your overlocker" course which was exactly was I was looking for, over a one-day workshop. I liked that the class was friendly and relaxed (with tea and biscuits of course!) with a small group, but still technical and very hands-on. We went through a lot of different techniques, from the basics to more advanced functionalities like embellishments for fine fabrics. After the workshop, Jen also forwarded a PDF of notes summing up the different techniques we'd learnt, as well as a reference book recommendation. You also bring your own overlocker to the class, so you are learning everything on your own machine which makes it easier than working on a different model. If you're keen to sew with an overlocker, but still a bit scared of it, I would definitely recommend the class! Highly recommend Jen's textile art workshops and beginners/ improvers classes. Small group size means individual attention as needed. I really enjoyed the cushion making course with zip and piping. I’m not great at sewing and although my brain hurt at the end I was amazed at what I achieved. Everything was provided to make the cushion and the instructions were clear. Jen has a lot of patience and offers good advice and you are able to ask questions as you are going along. The class had a lovely atmosphere and I was delighted with my cushion. I’ve signed up to the six week course and am looking forward to it. More...

Hi Kathryn, I'm glad you enjoyed the cushion-making class. Making and adding piping is quite tricky but the 6-week course will help a lot with your sewing skills and confidence. I know you'll love it and will learn a lot from it. See you then.

I first attended the beginners sewing class. The last time I had used a machine was when I was at school and I am now retired. Jen teaching was clear and she supported the group. By the end of the day I was using the machine confidently and created a tote bag. (mine is the middle one).I then booked the free motion embroidery class later in the year. jen contacted me, as she had a space available later in the week. I attended that class, and again her teaching method is brilliant. Taking the process in steps. By the end of the day I had created a garden scene, of which I am very proud. More...

I attended a 4 week beginners sewing class organised by Jen. As a total novice when it comes to sewing I found the course well structured and paced and Jen to be extremely patient and knowledgeable about all things sewing. I even managed to make something from scratch - and have since had another go at a different project. I’ve signed up for more....... More...

I have attended two courses with Artisan Stitch. Rags to Bags and Free Motion Embroidery. I particularly liked the small class size which allowed the tutor to give almost one to one attention. Jen was very knowledgeable and encouraged us to use our own ideas within the scope of the class. All materials (including the sewing machine if required) were provided or a clear list of requirements sent out in plenty of time. Details regarding the format of the workshop, the venue and directions were all very clear. Two very enjoyable days. Thank you. More...

I attended Monoprinting for Stitch last Friday. In the morning we used acrylic paints to print on fabric and paper. We used almost anything with texture to add layers of interest. In the afternoon we used our prints to make collages and enhanced them with hand or machine stitching. Everything was provided, including delicious chocolate nibbles to sustain us! It was a fun day and Jen gave a lot of individual help and attention. I am a quilter but had no experience of printing. The course taught me techniques I could apply and gave me lots of ideas to build on and develop my own individual style. Thanks, Jen. More...

A FUN way to explore your creative side!!  I have taken 3 different classes from Jen's Artisan Stitch studio and loved them all!  Dressmaking, Free-motion stitching and most recently the Mono-Printing workshop.  I have always had a love for stationery and this class combined paper crafting (by making your own print) with my newest passion for stitching!  It was so fun and having an intimate (small) setting makes it even more freeing to explore, ask LOTS of questions and experiment!  Jen is patient and is so creative you just want to make more classes with her!   She is always prepared and has lots of visual options to gear you in the right direction!!  Thank you, Jen, for your creative energy and for sharing it with others! Great workshop. Jen taught us so much in the 3 hours, she explained everything so clearly I didn't feel I was getting too much information. I feel a lot more confident in what I can use my overlocker locker for and how to adjust settings if it's not stitching how I want it to. Q&A

I learned to sew when I was 7 years old. I've spent my whole life learning about all forms of fabric work so I'm passionate about it. I love sharing my knowledge and experience and encouraging others to love sewing in any form as much as I do.

I realised that others were not offering an adequate service of actually teaching people to sew and didn't had the breadth or depth of experience that I have. It seemed obvious that I'd have to start teaching my own methods and techniques I'd learned and developed so I could help people fast-track their sewing journey and avoid all the common beginners mistakes.

I understand that it can be a scary thing to learn to sew and I can use methods designed to help you overcome any nerves and learn to sew confidently. I limit the number of students so I can give lots of personal attention to each and tailor tuition according to your needs. I also offer one-to-one tuition for specific requirements.
