I have been going to Sean Armstrong fitness for nearly 5 months.
I really enjoy and look forward to going. Sean and Martin are excellent trainers, tailoring each session to the individual whilst making it fun.
I’ve been to other gyms in the past and given up after a few weeks but at Sean Armstrong fitness I’m really seeing the results I want with weight loss and changes in body shape as well as feeling much fitter and with a general sense of well-being.
The gym has a really friendly feel with a good sense of community and is a very social place to be.
I recommend Sean Armstrong fitness 100%.
That have given me the means and motivation to achieve my goals whilst enjoying the experience!

Sean and Martin are great PT's who take a lot of time to work out what works for you as an individual. There's never more than 4 people in the group sessions, and the exercises are tailored to each person's abilities, so you won't all be doing the same thing every time, but different variations of it according to how it suits your fitness/strength levels. They're great at helping you get your form and technique right so you perform each exercise safely, and seeing your own progress is a real boost too. I'd never done any sessions like this before, but after the first month I'm more confident in the gym, and feeling a lot better for it too! I would definitely recommend signing up :) More...

I would highly recommend Sean Armstrong Fitness to anyone who wants to improve their health, fitness and well-being in a relaxed and friendly environment (tho Martin and Sean still make you work hard). I signed up in response to the “male over 50” ad I saw on Facebook and my only regret is that I didn’t do it sooner. The small group training sessions are just what I need as the one on one coaching and encouragement works a treat for me. So if like me you’re thinking “can I do it, will I be embarrassed, will I stick to it etc etc?” I would say just go for it. You’ll not just enjoy it you’ll also feel a lot better for doing it. Sean and Martin are friendly and approachable and tailor the training to the individual rather than a general approach. The small group training makes this possible so it really is personal training. The gym generally is really friendly and supportive with very much a community feel. After 1 month I signed up for a year as I really enjoy the sessions and already feel better in myself and feel that I am starting to achieve my goals.I highly recommend joining this gym. A friend of mine recommended Sean Armstrong fitness as a great alternative and somewhere that would be able to give me both personal training whilst still maintain group style activity. Still a bit apprehensive I phoned Sean himself to have a chat and to let him know of my concerns with regards to just how much I could or couldn’t do due to my disability and how my knees would only allow me to do certain things along with the fact I was pretty much completely out of shape at this point. Sean was able to allay any fears I may have had and explained how the training worked and how it was structured around each client and their specific needs. I really was concerned I would be training with some really fit gym people and didn’t want my inability to keep up with shared small group exercise classes to impact on their sessions and be an issue.I needn’t of worried.... I was informed how each 1 hour class would have a maximum of 4 people and that each exercise was tailored around the requirements of the individual and although we may all at times be doing a similar exercise, the weights and duration of sets etc would be different depending on who was doing it.Based on my fears being allayed by the chat with Sean I signed up for the £99 trial month and started in early January 2019 with 12 x 1 hour sessions booked in via the really great, simple and easy to use website which lets you choose when you want to train and book yourself on directly to any available session.Along with the training I started a calorie controlled diet which I have done before with successful results but never combined it with a decent amount of exercise the likes of which I was to experience here at Sean Armstrong fitness. I have to be honest here and say that my first session with Sean and his colleague Martin was a big wake up call and showed just how unfit I had become. It was a lot more intense than I expected and I ended it barely able to walk to the car let alone drive home as my whole body was screaming at me. That session and the next 2 were really hard in terms of recovery as my knees and every other body part ached and it took days not hours to recover. However, 4 sessions in and I could actually feel and see my recovery in terms of aerobic recovery and aches and pains getting much better. Don’t get me wrong I still ache after every session and each and every session is extremely hard as regardless of your level Sean and Martin will take you to your limit each and every time by altering the weight, time, reps on each exercise and the hour just wizzes by!The range of exercises Sean and Martin offer within each 1 hour session is fantastic and you very rarely ever two sessions the same. You can even compliment / supplement your own small group training sessions with team training sessions. After the first 4 weeks I have dropped 13lbs yet really enjoyed the sessionsI am really enjoying my steady return to fitness, no short cuts, no wonder diets but lots of hard work and effort along with the guidance of 2 real professionals guys to spur you on as well as the camaraderie of the other members who without exception have been warm and welcoming to myself and all the other new starters. That’s the thing with Sean Armstrong Fitness, you get the personal one to one training / meal planning advice and support but you also get to be part of a really special group of people who have all found something here training with Sean and Martin that keeps them coming back month after month, year after year, even once they are super fit.It won't be for everybody, but it ticks so many boxes for me that I would whole heartedly recommend it to those people looking to make that all important change in lifestyle for whatever the reason. I signed up for Sean Armstrong Fitness having been shown the 30 day advert by someone and being determined to do something this year to get into better shape. I have never attended any sort of gym class/personal trainer course before and it was honestly not something that I had ever looked at, in fact I actively avoided. I am not someone who “enjoys” going to the gym etc so knew I would need to find something to keep me motivated. I don’t own £100 running shoes or “gym clothes”, I just wanted something I was comfortable doing that was achieving something.I decided that doing the 30 day trial I would at worst find that it was not for me and could look for something else later on.Within about 6 sessions I knew that this was something I wanted to keep doing longer term. The first few I would wake up sore somewhere but this got less and less as the sessions went one. It was clear that the guys were taking interest in each person there be in 4, 8 or more. They clearly tailor the exercises to the person while keeping everyone on the same rough pattern through the session. After doing the 30 day trial I had lost 6 pounds; felt much better in myself and could clearly see the increase in strength in just that sort time. Having the ability to fit around shift work with the variety of times offered and the easy to book has no doubt got me to go days when I might have thought to just give it a miss. The food planning has helped a large amount as it has made me link the exercise to what I am eating and not just do an hour a day, eat rubbish and wonder why nothing was changing. I am still not someone who “enjoys” going to the gym but I do enjoy going to these classes and can see the benefit in this short time. That for me is the best recommendation I can give of Sean Armstrong Fitness because I know loads of people like me that would never have considered going to something like this. It would have been very easy to stop after 30 days but in all honestly after a few sessions that thought never crossed my mind. More...

I lost my mam to cancer. We were both really young, I had the best relationship you could have with a mam and it hit me really hard. I found myself frequently drinking lots of alcohol, my eating was all over the place and I had no routine. I got to a point where I knew I had to get back on track health wise and change the bad habits I had fallen into. My friend who had also had a hard year had joined Sean Armstrong and was looking amazing. Her confidence had grown and she seemed much happier. She introduced me to the trial. I was really nervous to begin with. I had done lots of running, yoga and such like but never weights. After a few sessions I was no longer nervous and was enjoying myself loads. My routine has dramatically improved. I attend the gym 3-4 times a week. I have a regular bed time, I sleep much better and I even made the gym at 7am. Unheard of for me! My moods have also improved a lot.Sean and Martin are excellent. I am lifting weights I never thought I'd be able to and it's only just after a month. They continue to push me further even when I'm being dramatic or laughing because I just can't visual in my brain what I'm meant to be doing. Sean and Martin speak a lot of sense and support you as and when you need it. The group sessions are friendly, well run and are tailored to each individual attending. This is a long one so here is a TLDR version;

sean armstrong fitness as a great place to lose weight, strengthen, tone up and get the support needed for a healthier happier lifestyle.

For the cost of subscription the service and attention you get along side are unbelievable, the booking system is simple, the time-slots are plenty, the equipment is substantial, and the results if you stick to it are phenomenal!

Keep reading for the full version

I’ve been training with Sean armstrong fitness now since mid April which was the 30 day trial, I hadn’t ever been in a gym before and hated the idea of it, most people in my position feel the same. I have always been overweight since early teens, and have never led an active lifestyle, working in call centres mostly, I’ve tried many diets, and most work for a time but then something happens to get you off track and you don’t get back to it, so I’ve seen my weight fluctuate up to as high as 21 stone.

So how has Sean Armstrong fitness had an impact? Firstly the whole ‘hate the gym‘ idea was put to bed after visiting the gym, there are just 4 people to a coach so you get the attention you need. While I was there the people training were mixed ages mid twenties to above 50’s different sizes, all getting along just fine, making training look easy and enjoyable, didn’t expect to see as many smiles as I did!

Before you start attending the gym and before you’ve actually signed up the team will make sure you’ll be the right fit for each other, and that you are looking to commit yourself, there is a set of questions to go through and Sean is available to answer questions throughout, sign up is simple, there is an app to download and this is where you can plan and book your sessions, it’s me and my wife who signed up so we thought that this may have become a challenge, but it hasn’t caused any real issue, also in the relatively short time we’ve been training Sean has increased his number of slots and also introduced new team training slots, so again they’re happy to take feedback onboard and make the gym-work-life balance as good as it can be!

While at the gym there is usually set routines throughout the week changing frequently making sure that you aren’t doing the same thing over and over, Sean brings in new exercises often much to the delight of members (pistol squats anyone?)

At first it feels like you’ll never be able to walk again or use your arms in the same way but this passes and as long as you regularly attend this initial ‘pain’ won’t continue.

Both Sean and Martin are very attentive, paying attention to what you are doing and how your doing it, constantly making adjustments to fit your development, and it may not feel like you are moving forward but at some point you’ll realise that the first session you struggled with a simple squat but a couple of month on you’re deadlifting heavy weights with relative ease.

The weight loss side of thing I don’t find myself focusing on massively as I seem to lose weight as long as I stick to the advice Sean’s given, I use my fitness pal to track food intake, and I’ve steadily lost a good amount of weight, the most noticeable change is in my body, after the initial trial my thighs were firm, I could feel muscle in my arms, I could feel my chest starting to firm up, and I could see more of my feet! People were starting to comment all the time which feels great! And a big bonus for me was dropping Jean sizes, down from 42/44 waist to 38 (now I have space in 36!) so now I can shop with more confidence, Jacamo is no longer the only shop for me!

I work as a photographer and waking up the morning after a 14 hour wedding would normally mean the day was a write off or that I would struggle through with aching joints and muscles, whereas now It’s not an issue, a flight of stairs would have left me struggling previously whereas now it’s a non issue.

Sean Armstrong fitness has huge amounts of support material available and they work tirelessly to cater for the clients needs, recently during on of Sean’s many Q&A’s nutrition came up as something people wanted to know more of so within a very short timescale he had drafted daily videos on important aspects of nutrition you may need to know, at present I haven’t needed to dive in as I’m still losing weight comfortably on the original plan he set, but for some it’s important, and that’s testament to how he operates, he is there for his clients no matter what they need.

Sean has a no nonsense approach often, there is no such thing as a stupid question however he won’t sugar coat and answer or fill you with bull, and you’ll see this throughout his Q&A’s, he isn’t here to make a quick buck and promise to give you a flat tummy in 5 weeks, he is teaching you the right way to exercise and the right way to eat, if you have a slice of fudge cake at the weekend he isn’t going to demand a thousand press ups to work it off, as he knows as long as your sticking to his advice 1 piece of fudge cake isn’t going to make a difference!

The cost of subscription may seem high, however the service and attention you get along side are unbelievable, the booking system is simple, the time-slots are plenty, the equipment is substantial, and the results if you stick to it are phenomenal!

So great value for money so far!

I would and do recommend sean armstrong fitness as a great place to lose weight, strengthen, tone up and get the support needed for a healthier happier lifestyle.

Thanks Sean and Martin for your support!

When I first joined Sean Armstrong Fitness in April I didn’t honestly think I’d stick to it past the 30 day trial as I had (wrongly) preconceived ideas of how things would be. I was massively wrong (4 months later I’m still there and not planning stopping anytime soon) and from my first visit realised this place was different.
Everyone is treated as an individual and their training is tailored to each persons ability and goals.

Personally I wanted to lose some weight but also wanted to improve my strength and over all health & fitness. I was at the heaviest I have ever been and finding myself struggling to get up a couple of flights of stairs and knew it was time to do something about it as I just wasn’t happy.

When I first started I couldn’t do a squat without using rings for support, I have always struggled with exercise since a bad knee injury a few years ago. In the time I have been training with Sean & Martin I have progressed steadily and have now managed to get to a point where I can do barbell squats which is a huge improvement, I can now run, and don’t find my knee causing me as much pain or holding me back as much as before.

I find going to sessions challenging and always enjoyable, everyone is friendly- there’s always plenty smiles and laughs. The routine of going to the gym and making improvements week on week is also great for my mental health- I actually look forward to going.

Sean & Martin are always there to offer support and words of encouragement. They both have a very honest and open approach, and give knowledgeable sensible advice. The rest of the members are all very friendly, encouraging and great to spend time with. Sean is always making improvements to the gym, investing in new equipment & training for himself so he can do the best for his members.

So far I have lost 10lbs of weight, noticed my body shape has changed, improved my overall fitness and feel in a better place mentally overall. And I couldn’t have done any of it without Sean & Martins help- I would highly recommend anyone considering personal training to give Sean Armstrong Fitness a try, I couldn’t speak any higher of them.

Personally, I signed up because I wanted to feel stronger, lose some inches and set an example to my little girl that it is important to exercise for overall wellbeing. I have achieved that with the help and support of Sean and the Armstrong Allstars.
The small group sessions are fun and manageable for all abilities. Each person works at their own pace in order to progress; either working on technique or increasing weight/reps for the additional challenge. Sean is also experienced enough to know when to push for more. I would then leave the session feeling proud of the achievement; both of having pushed myself in the session but also because I can see the results in the way I feel and the ways my clothes started to fit (or not, as I also dropped a dress size). For the last 6 months I have also been training whilst pregnant. I have received brilliant support and - where necessary - the relevant tweaks to exercises to accommodate my changing muscles.
Everyone has their own reasons for wanting to get fit, lose a bit of weight or tone up. However, none of this is achievable without the right support. It is this support that really sets the team at Sean Armstrong Fitness apart. Whether it is the regular one to one check ups from Sean, the online support, to the in-depth information and guidance on nutrition with new and tasty recipe suggestions to help with calorie intake, to the warmth and fun within the sessions and the Facebook Group.
Getting fit and losing weight requires commitment, but it has been made a whole lot easier with the fantastic support of all involved with Sean Armstrong Fitness. Thank you Sean, you’ve certainly changed my perception of weights, personal training and nutrition for the better!

I knew a lot about running and cardio but I wanted to learn about weight lifting and gain muscle and shape. I didn’t have any confidence or knowledge to do it myself, I knew this and wanted to invest in myself for once.

I can now say I work out much less frequently, for shorter times and I’ve never been in better shape or stronger. If I stick to good eating I have abs (which I’ve never, ever had). If I don’t and eat a lot of cake I still have definition in my upper abs. My arms/back/shoulders are toned, my legs are strong – but I’m in no way bulky (a ridiculous myth). My confidence is back where it should be, but more so because I’m in a good routine and I am proud of how much I’ve improved. I still eat endless brownies and enjoy life, but I’m happy with my body and how strong/healthy I am.

I’d never have known I could push myself to lift the weights I currently do. The guidance and encouragement given by both Sean and Martin has really been invaluable, they know my journey and genuinely push me where needed. I’ve never once felt like I do the ‘same’ as everyone else, the exercises are always tailored to my abilities.

I have exercised for years, I thought I had my techniques on a lot of exercises down. From press-ups to deadlifts I now realise slight tweaks have improved my abilities much faster and this has surprised me the most. Sean and Martin always have their eye on you for correct form to get the maximum results from each exercise.

The information available to you to learn about nutrition is vast, every question is answered and constant feedback is given should you want/need it. Sean’s knowledge on the subject is great and a no nonsense approach really makes things simple.

The atmosphere in the gym is brilliant, I’ve easily came out my shell with both Sean and Martin. They love (tolerate) when you complain and whinge, there’s jokes and it’s a fun environment. There is absolutely no judgement by other members, they are also just as likely to help you with a question or support you when you start. I have never ever dreaded going and even when I’m tired (always) I leave in a much better mood.

The first time I spoke to Sean, I really liked his transparent approach to training & nutrition. Having had years in a cycle of Cardio & faddy dieting and still not being 100% happy, I thought I would give it a shot. ..
This was in August, and looking at myself in the mirror the changes are very noticeable, my diet is much better, my stres levels are down and I'm sleeping better too and this is all down to Sean's patience, coaching and him challenging me to achieve my goals.
I train 2-3 times a week to fit in with a busy job & an 8year old, but even with that level of commitment, the results are amazing. I couldn't squat, or lunge at all when I joined the team and now I am busting out Romanian Deadlifts & Barbell Squats and pulling out Pb's week on week.
To top all of this off, the people at the Allstars are lovely, encouraging and good fun.
In short, can't recommend Sean & the Armstrong Allstars enough ️‍♀️?

I came to Sean to increase my strength training and nutrition knowledge. This guy really knows his stuff! He actively stays in touch with you and, though keen to teach you how to monitor your own progress, will pro actively 'nag' you (nicely! ) and make sure you're doing okay! He is passionate about what he does and keeps sessions fresh and interesting. I've dropped weight, gained strength and also gained confidence in the short time I've been there. I would recommend training with Sean to anyone! More...

I've loved seeing how much I can achieve with some friendly encouragement and hard work. For the first time in my life I have defined arms, wouldn't go so far to call them guns but I'm hoping to get there soon! Thanks for your on going advice and support.

I signed up for 12 sessions after seeing a FaceBook post and speaking to Sean. I hit 50 this year and just wanted to strengthen up and make more sensible eating choices to keep in shape. I've had 9 sessions and can see a noticeable difference in my core strength & love all the nutritional advice from Sean. It's a great gym and everyone is so welcoming and supportive. It must be good if he can get me there at 8am on a Sat morning! I can now lift weights I couldn't even pick up at the start and can now squat holding a weight withouting falling over. So as my sessions approach an end I'll definitely be signing up for more More...

Great place to get fit and healthy if your like me and feel self conscious about how you look and worry about being intimidated by loads of pretty, thin people! There’s no running or awkward positions pushed upon you, Sean adapts exercises to meet my needs and capabilities.

Everyone I’ve met has been lovely and supportive, of course there’s mixed abilities but I’ve not once felt uncomfortable, or intimidated I actually feel like part of a group. I enjoy every session and I look forward to going, which for me is key.

I never did anything substantial to try and lose weight/keep in shape and I let myself go substantially, in the 3 months I've been training I've made a major improvement in my weight and fitness. I am now cautious of eating certain foods, and If I do eat them I reduce intake elsewhere to accommodate. I've lost just short of 2 stone and a lot stronger than I started off, I've never cancelled a session and really enjoy going 3-4 times a week! More...

I started working with Sean Armstrong 3 months ago and during that time I’ve lost 19lb, 5 inches off my waist and 3 inches off my hips. The training sessions are challenging but I have managed to lift a 32kg kettle weight for 3 reps of 8 which considering I struggled to lift a 6kg dumbbell back in September has amazed me! Sean offers nutrition advice as well as the training side and this is brilliant as it means you get an all round experience and Sean is always available to offer support, encouragement and where necessary blunt facts. I have no hesitation in recommending Armstrong Fitness but just make sure you’re committed to what you want to achieve . More...

Having got myself into a bit of a rut with running I decided to try something new. I've been with Sean for a month now and really enjoy the sessions. Sean offers qualified advice that isn't based on the latest fad. The small sessions enable him to spot your strengths and weaknesses (as well as when you might be slacking off!). More...

Before Sean, all I ever did in the gym was Spinning... for about 2 months after January and then wouldn't bother! Now I am weight training 3-4 times a week in a small group with such a lovely bunch of like-minded people

One of the first reasons I decided to sign up with Sean, is that his training easily works around my ever changing work shifts and he seems to be much more flexible with this than other PT's I'd seen advertised (where you sign up to a specific time slot). Apart from the fact he is super approachable and down to earth, he helps you to reach your goals while still having 'a life'.

As the saying goes "You get out what you put in" but Sean is unbelievably knowledgeable about Health, Fitness & Training and as I've learned over the past 6 months, if you listen to his advice you won't go far wrong! Couldn't even imagine going back to a commercial gym now The music in the gym isn't too shabby either

I've joined a few gyms in the past, mainly focusing on cardio for a few weeks (as that's what I thought would help me lose weight), hated it and typically ended up paying for 10 months I never used!
Since joining up with Sean in early June, my eyes have been opened to all the tricks I've been missing. First and foremost is that weight/resistance training is the best way to lose weight, but also that diet has more impact than anything.
Thanks to Sean's advice and guidance, I've now lost 23lb. I am sleeping better, feel better about myself and actually look forward to training 3x every week. I also now eat a much more varied diet, one which I can actually stick to! He does his absolute best to accommodate you, whilst at the same time pushing you just that little bit out of your comfort zone every session. The small group training sessions are great craic, I've enjoyed meeting like-minded people and we regularly share advice and guidance.
Without doubt the best thing I have done for myself in years - no regrets here!

I initially joined because I wanted to look and feel my best for my wedding last year but I enjoy the training so much I'm keeping it up. Sean gives loads of advice about training and nutrition but I would add that one thing Sean does really well is listen to you and your individual goals, and then tailor all the work around that. I have been an avid gym goer for many years but after injury (caused by a class) have struggled to get back into strength training, it really has been easy with Sean, his workouts are challenging without going over the top and because its 1-1 he monitors your form diligently and makes alterations to the exercises when needed. I have seen big improvements in my fitness levels and dropped inches after just a short period working with Sean.
Sean is a dedicated and passionate personal trainer who has a wealth of knowledge to help improve your fitness and nutrition. He is very honest with his feedback and advice and tailors workouts to suit your fitness levels, including any limitations (like my dodgy lower back) and work towards your goals.
