What an absolutely amazing place, we were staying at the caravan site in otterington Park and too my niece and nephew for a look around after calling to confirm if we could and the lady said yes, lots to see from fish, rabbits, spiders, insects, snakes, lizards, turtles, chinchillas, ferrits, goats, chickens it was amazing and the staff were so helpful, the young lad was so knowledgeable and even brought the spiders down for my niece and nephew to have a close up. I don't think they would have been bothered if we didn't buy anything but we did we bought dog treats and had drinks and ice cream at the little cafe which also had a children's play area and interesting pond plants, there is a section at the back which we were advised we were not allowed in due to them being boarding animals but what an amazing place I wish it was bigger and we could have stayed longer! Aquatic Finatic brought a fantastic selection of animals to my son’s 6th birthday. Megan was brilliant, she had a really lovely calm, relaxed approach with the children and made everyone feel at ease. The animals Megan chose to bring were perfect and her knowledge and enthusiasm really captured the children (and adults). I can’t recommend Megan and aquatic finatic enough. To top it off my son received a gift in the post after his birthday from Megan which was so sweet and thoughtful, my son was so happy.....thank you so much, we popped in to thank Megan but sadly she wasn’t there on this occasion. Was in today as my last stop off on my trip around York, Marc couldn't of been more helpful, Brilliant advice for us novices and helped assure us our fish would be fine for a 2 hour journey home with a insulated box given to us! Seems to have a real passion for his job and that's exactly what we are looking for! Cannot wait to come again for more! Well stocked for everything you need! Plants are thriving and good variety! Had James come to our house a couple of weeks ago for my daughters birthday party, he brought a variety of animals. The children held snakes, spiders ect he gave them the opportunity to over come fears and they all had an amazing time so did the adults. Exceptional customer service from everybody i have met at Aquatic Finatic, i got my first aquarium and with help from here things couldnt of been any easier for a novice. All questions were answered with a true professional attitude even if to me seemed very simple. Everybody is happy to help and guide you with what you need. There loyalty card and free water testing is fantastic! I will not shop anywere else for my fish and accessories. Absolutely amazing quality and value. And the staff are just so lovely as well. Went for some Apistogrammas which I knew they had in stock and the guy I had who helped me was just brilliant.
We stood looking at the Electric Blue Rams trying to work out a female and we eventually thought we'd found one (they're both VERY similar except for a couple of tiny differences) so I took a risk and got one for my male. I stood there watching it so we could get the right one whilst he got his gear haha . Then he showed me the different types of Apistogrammas he had in stock, I picked a type and asked for a male and female. I got distracted by some rocks in a side room and he came to show me the 2 he'd got and asked if they were okay (they were perfect!). His customer service was absolutely brilliant.
If they were closer to us we'd be there more often for sure.

We have been going to Aquatic Finatic for years now. Every time we go in the shop we are greeted by the friendly staff and they always ask how they can help us. Nothing is ever too much trouble for them and they are all very knowledgable. On our latest visit, Kayleigh in particular was fantastic helping us choose our new pet rabbit with our two very excited little boys! She could answer all our questions about it and made sure we were fully sorted with all we needed for our new pet. They keep a large selection of animals who are all looked after in fantastic condition. Everything you need for your pets is there. Would definitely recommend this place. More...

I love this shop anyway, but today they really came through for me and my little man (George, a Spur-thighed tortoise). His heating wasn't working, which in this weather in our heating-free house is a very bad thing. I've had it in place since I got him about three years ago, and was more than a bit surprised when it failed. Trial and error with fuses revealed that the thermostat had failed. The whole team couldn't have been more helpful in helping sort the issue out. They exchanged the unit for me, and my little man's alright now, and that's thanks to these guys. A standout reason why you should buy from local shops. I'd never buy from anywhere else when it comes to my tortoise. Their expertise across all their departments is fantastic and solid. Visited today and we were welcomed by a young man who came over to ask if we needed any help , we’ve just put a pond in our garden and he was very helpful answering our many questions then gave us time to browse . Once we had decided on our purchases we were greeted by Mark who was beyond courteous extremley helpful friendly and very patient with our requirements . Just had a party for my 8 year old and we hired Aquatic Finatic to bring some animals and insects to our house for the children to hold.
These consisted of snakes, a chinchilla, a tortoise, a rabbit, a Guinea pig, a ferret, a bearded dragon, a gecko and a tarantula. James was a perfect host and was a wealth of knowledge about all the creatures and helped put nervous children (and adults �) at ease.
The session lasted an hour and was really good value for money.
I’d highly recommend this as a party option.

I had an emergency yesterday with my marine tank, came into the sitting room and water was leaking from the bottom. After calling, I was hooked up with a lovaly 225lt Aqua One tank and stand. Been in 3 times now whilst setting up our new tropical fish tank, and dealt with 3 different members of staff. On each occasion I have received FIRST CLASS service, with a smile, and much needed EXPERT advice from all involved.

Today was my first time coming to Aquatic Finatic , the staff were excellent. On arrival I was greeted by multiple staff all asking if I was ok and if I needed any assistance just to ask. When it came to picking some fish out to buy I had an idea on what I wanted so I just asked if the fish I had seen were going to make good tank mates. A member of staff called Mark gave me some great advice on what would go ok with my tank and even improve it. After looking around and talking alot I came to the conclusion which 10 fish I was coming away with. As I had driven along distance to aquatic finatic the staff bagged and packaged the fish I bought into a polystyrene box for a safe journey back home. All in all the staff were great. All the tanks looked great. You can tell this is a company that takes pride in their work.I look forward to going back very soon. More...

They were a life saver and we highly recommend them. Nothing was too much trouble. The 20 Children and 8 adults had a fantastic, stimulating afternoon. There were 2 handlers who were very knowledgeable about all the animals they brought and answered all the questions our inquisitive children asked. We adults got to tick handling a tarantula off our bucket list and had as much fun as the children. So many well cared for animals. Our Children were very lucky, it was a very tactile experience, even the children who were a little worried at first engaged well. Thank you so much you made my daughters day We had booked and left a deposit two months before our daughters Birthday party with Mags from Animal Intuition they let us down 2 days before the big day stating it was dangerous for the animals because of the weather. Brilliant team, I rehomed a blue crayfish of considerable size from them, was warned he was a tank destroyer, but he’s been perfect for me as I run big tanks and try set up as close to a natural ecosystem as possible, he catches a few fish here and there and stops them over populating the tank. We held a surprise party for my 7yr old son in July with Aquatic Finatic . It was a massive hit with everyone , adults included! There was a wide range of weird and wonderful creatures , from bunnies to tarantulas. This is my son’s favourite place to come and look at the animals & every time we’ve been to visit , a member of staff is always happy to stop and speak to him/show him the creatures.
