I ate there for the first time today and tried items that are soul food staples : mac n cheese, collards, and yams. I figured that if these weren’t any good, nothing else would be either. Welp, it was very good! Everything was well seasoned and well portioned. The price for my 3 item veggie plate plus corn muffin was $ 8.99 I believe. The decor was fresh and inviting. There were long rustic wooden tables which made me think they were going for a communal dining experience? Now for the meh moments: The tea was sickeningly sweet. I mean TOO TOO sweet. I had to add a half cup of water to make it palatable. The corn muffins were small, pale, hard and filled with corn kernels— nuff said. The food is served in styrofoam to-go containers even if dining in. I get that it must save on the expense of dishes and washing but when I dine in, I want to eat from a plate. I was traveling from Georgia to Jackson ms and googled a restaurant near me. Upon arrival, I was greeted immediately when I walked through the doors and also with a smile. Seldom are there any issues with the Lee Rd location...the food is good & plenty!!! I'm grateful because we can usually eat twice off our portions (adding an additional meat) the sides are plentiful!
