I have been going to APFitness for just over four months now. I was very hesitant to get started but Alec was pretty laid back when we met and I decided to bite the bullet. It was the best decision I could have made! I've lost over 40lbs in that time, and pretty sure this is the best shape I've been in my adult life. He pushes you hard, but never to a breaking point, and without being overwhelming. The half hour sessions are perfect, you get a lot out of them, but it also goes by fast! The space is not huge but has everything you need, plus especially when you're starting off, it is nice to be in a private space without too many other people around. More...

I came to Alec six months ago as a total physical wreck: a 275-pound, 43-year-old mound of useless flesh. Children would point and laugh at me when I ever walked by them. I would try to chase them, but was too easily winded to ever catch them let alone throttle them. Which only made it worse as their laughter became louder when one of them would inevitably start making mooing sounds. Today, after six months with Alec, I am robust and healthy. I am not only capable of chasing down small children, but also hurling them into the river or other bodies of water as punishment for their cruelty. The only problem is this: the children aren't pointing and laughing at me anymore. Not at all. When I pass them by these days there is a hush that comes over them. A silent respect in their eyes as they drink in my Herculean manliness and strength. And the women! Oh the women! They throw themselves at me and beg me for children. Ok, so that last part isn't true. No women have thrown themselves at me. Other than my wife. Who totally digs me now. AP Fitness is a great place for personal training. No gimmicks to lure you in, straightforward with information and prices. Both Alec and Chris are very knowledgeable and professional. I lost 20 lbs over the summer and very proud of the level of fitness I achieved. Chris was my trainer, I was out of shape and with a sore and tender wrist for over a year but by the end of the summer, my wrist no longer hurt and I was amazed at how much I could do. I really enjoyed every session with Chris. He made me feel at ease and he worked with me at just the right pace. He explained everything clearly. I started training with Alec in January 2015 and I can say that he drastically changed my view on training and eating right. No one ever said it was going to be easy but one thing I can say is that Alec made it easier by always encouraging me, keeping track of what I was eating and making sure I was training right. He’s a great motivator. He’s always been available to answer all my questions and he helped me a lot with self-confidence. He created the perfect program for me and I found that I am so much fitter and have a better understanding of the right foods to eat. He has the aptitude for knowing what I am capable of and won’t let me slack off. He gives me just enough freedom to keep me focused but not enough that I am not pushing myself to finish the set. He's fun to work with, great for results and a truly excellent trainer. He’s been a great supporter and he has never let me down. I could not thank him enough for all that he did for me. Nothing like the sense of achievement you get when you finish one of Alec's sessions! I would recommend him any day. Hands down he is the best personal trainer in town. Thanks again Alec! More...

For 6 months I've been consistently training with Alec at AP Fitness and will continue for as long as the business exists. Before finding AP Fitness I'd met for consultations with a few trainers from other gyms but didn't feel that they were really listening to my goals and were just trying to shove thousand dollar packages down my throat. On top of that, some of those trainers appeared to be in poor physical condition so it was difficult to see them as fitness role models. At AP Fitness you have trainers who are in top physical condition and who are 100% focused on their clients. You really get a sense that your trainer is genuinely concerned with your overall health and fitness rather than just pushing for sales. Anyone can train at this gym, I’ve seen a wide range of ages and fitness levels and each person is trained and treated with attention and thoughtfulness. Additionally, I’ve seen the progress other clients have made and can attest that the trainers know exactly what to do to help each person move forward, set new goals and continually improve their physical condition. On top of my own gains, seeing the progress and enthusiasm of other clients really helps to motivate me and demonstrates the expertise and commitment of the trainers at AP Fitness. I had tried an assortment of fitness “programs” in the past (year-long commitments at other gyms; group training etc.) and AP Fitness is the only place that got it right - Alec understands exactly what my goals are, ensures I achieve them (through training and proper nutrition) and regularly inquires if my goals have shifted. He won’t let me slack on a single rep and makes every single session worth the sweat and effort. It’s that simple and it works. The conveniently located gym (downtown Bank street and Byward Market) is private and has shower facilities so can easily be scheduled into a hectic work day. You can schedule and modify your sessions using the online booking system and the trainers make themselves available 7 days a week so you can always find a time to fit in a session. I've been working out by myself for about 4 years and had reached a plateau in my training. I wasn't gaining any muscle and I wasn't losing any of the weight I was hoping to get rid of. I thought my diet was quite healthy and I was monitoring a lot of what I was eating. I've been seeing Alec for a couple of months now and I'm already much leaner than I've ever been before. We're getting close to finishing my cutting phase and we'll be transitioning to building more muscle soon. I definitely look better than I ever have before, and I'm feeling stronger and healthier. Alec helped me out with my diet and he regularly checks in on it with me. His personal training prices are also the most reasonable in the city. The fitness studio is a perfect size for training, and the location couldn't be more central. You can tell that Alec really cares about helping you reach your goals. I’ve been working out with Alec for nearly six months now and I recommend him to anyone who is looking for a personal trainer. He’s very professional and genuinely wants his clients to succeed. Knowing he wants you succeed and is willing to help you achieve your fitness goals makes a big difference in keeping you focused and pushing yourself to do better. I have been a client at AP Fitness for 4 months now and the transformation that has occurred in how I look, feel, and what I am able to do is phenomenal. Location is in the middle of downtown so it's easy to get to, just have to watch out for the sign outside. Alec is very professional and dedicated to training you, he doesn't just want you to lose weight but also help you change your lifestyle. How to eat better, and make better decisions. The gym is well equipped, but could be bigger, but that will happen in due time.
