I am Anne-Elizabeth Straub, LCSW, a Clinical Social Worker in private practice.

My primary location is Downtown Brooklyn, but I would consider phone or video sessions, under certain circumstances .

My practice includes working with clients who are experiencing relationships issues, anxiety, depression, issues related to stress, as well as people dealing with health issues, disability, bereavement or loss , or who are in need of information and referral.

My approach varies with the client’s needs. I would describe my approach as Solution Focused Brief Therapy, but I also use aspects of Task Centered Practice,, as well as, Narrative, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. These models have commonalities, but sometimes one approach might fit better than another in certain circumstances.

No matter what specific model might be employed, the most important aspect of successful therapy is the establishment of a firm therapeutic relationship between client and therapist. This requires care, attention, consistency, and a certain amount of time

I do not accept insurance, but will submit invoices and assist you with filling out you insurance forms as an out of network provider, if your policiy allows provision services by out of network provider.

I also offer sliding scale.

One of my abiding interests is the human-animal bond. Animal related issues, such as the decisions involved in obtaining service dogs, bereavement over the death of a pet are just two examples . I am prepared to give my full attention to assist you in navigating these issues.

I currently Chair, an organization, called Social Workers Advancing the Human Animal Bond ( SWAHAB), which raises the the Social Work community’s awareness of Human-Anima Bond and the myriad ways it is connected to policy as well as individual and family life. I’recommend the SWAHAB website, while my own is being rebuilt.
