Played here for the first time on Thursday. As a high handicapper, I really enjoyed playing this track (and I've played quite a few, though not in this area). As others have noted, the course is generally forgiving but don't let that fool you into thinking that you don't have to think or that you can hit any old hook and slice and still get away with it!Mike the pro gave both myself and playing partner a warm welcome and I was pleasantly surprised to see a similar welcoming and friendly atmosphere out on the course (and indeed in the clubhouse). Finally I should say that I'm new to the area and I'll be checking out a few more courses but make no mistake, I'll be back here to enjoy a most decent course, friendly atmosphere and great value green fees!Massive to all the staff. I have played at Hamptworth a number of times this year and I must say it is getting better each time. The changes they are making to the course are fantastic, the greens were brilliant in the summer and a the drainage they have put in will make the course playable all year round.
Love the par 6 "The Beast" such good hole to beat par.
If you have not played here at all or even recently you must put it on your list to play, you will be impressed.
Also the restaurant is great, far more than just golf club food. I have even taken the wife and friends there for an evening out at one of their many foody events!!
