Andy Kenny Fitness is the best fitness location in Dublin. It was an innovative idea all those years ago and has been replicated but not bettered since. I remember doing PT sessions with Andy in a small room in Ringsend and I have to admire his determination to succeed in converting and opening the bigger location. I admire both his approach to business and the support he gives that you wouldn’t see in other gyms. The reasons it’s the best are: • Everything is class based in small mixed groups • The staff are highly trained and lovely people • All levels are catered for from the super fit to people who have never been in a gym • There are regularly fitness incentives to encourage people (Oktoberfit is on now) • There’s a handy app for booking classes with no hassle • There are food talks to help with that side of things • There are a great bunch of friendly people who are members • It’s not a gym, so you won’t get bored doing stuff on your own like traditional gyms • There are social outings such as hikes and evenings out every few months. Best gym around. Nothing near as good around the area.
I joined this gym through the body slim class and found it great. I had never been in a gym before so almost all of the exercises were new to me but the trainers had loads of patience. Everything is class based as opposed to being an open gym that you do what you like.Most of the classes have a small maximum size so the trainers are always able to keep an eye on you to make sure you are doing it correctly and are able to provide alternatives for people looking for an easier/more advanced version of the exercise when required. I moved to Dublin about a year ago and this was the first place I checked out (because I prefer class-based gyms) and haven’t stopped coming since! I cannot speak highly enough about Andy Kenny fitness. I joined earlier this year as a Bodyslim member after a lot of nervous debating with myself about getting over my fears of joining a gym for the first time. From the moment I walked in the door, Pamela, Andy and all the trainers made me feel completely at ease and were greeting me by name every day after that! There is a wide mix of athletic ability in the gym with people there for a plethora of reasons but with absolutely no pretension - there is something for everyone. The class-based structure is great and with weights classes capped at 6 people, it's almost like personal training! The trainers are extremely professional (and very friendly) and will encourage and push you to YOUR max. All the trainers really care about their members' wellbeing which extends beyond the physical training; Andy is a huge advocate for positive mental health organising wellness talks and numerous hikes and social events throughout the year which is really unique. I have just completed the 6 week body slim course and could not recommend this gym enough! The atmosphere, the trainers, the selection of classes - all aspects wonderful! I joined a relatively unfit and self-conscious person and am finishing the course with a great start to my fitness goal, far more educated around fitness and diet, and feeling so motivated and much more confident! This is not like a normal gym! Everything is class based - most clases are 15 minutes, 20 minutes or 30 minutes and a few - like Boxercise and spin - are a bit longer. The classes are taken by skilled, friendly instructors. Max size of weights classes is 6, HIIT classes is 4 so you really get a supervised workout. The classes are fun and are timed so that you can pop in before work or during your lunch hour - or after work. I'm definitely no gym bunny; I find it hard to motivate and get to the gym; usually they are just a means to an end for me, having struggled all my life with weight issues.. but Andy and his team offer a service that I've never experienced before..
I've been part of so many weight class regimes, a member of many gyms, have done PT, running, dance classes, yoga classes, aerobics, swimming and various slimming clubs; I've tried everything! And while I start off being fully committed, it doesn't last very long.. I lose momentum and the couch ultimately wins.. and so the cycle continues... I give up on myself and feel like I just can't face the battle on my own..
Maybe I was looking for miracles but I just had been looking for a place that I could work out, feel comfortable, not feel intimidated by all the fabulous people and not feel stupid if I could not do certain exercises because my body would not allow me too.. and most of all, not feel like I had to sneak in and out and just get on with.. it was almost too anonymous and I felt like if I disappeared, no one would notice..
There is something very different about Andy Kenny fitness.. it is everything that I had been looking for in the past but could not find...
I was always looking for a gym to take an interest, notice if I was struggling, notice if I did not turn up, help to motivate me, Just check-in every so often, but not in an intrusive way..
Even just to know my name if I walked through the doors.. It's the little things.. But that never happened in the past.. Once you pay your fee, you are just another number in some gyms..
But that is definitely not the case in Andy's gym..
From the very start, Pamela at reception makes a point of remembering your name, as too, do All the trainers.. It's a little thing, but it really means a lot..
The classes cater to every level of fitness. No matter where you are on the scale, there is a place for you..
Andy and his team, genuinely seem to care whether you attend and get the best out of the gym or not..
They notice what your weaknesses are, take note and make sure that you don't do anything that could injure or jeopardise your health and fitness...
They only push you to perform within your limitations..
Their training, knowledge, expertise and genuine interest in their clients makes this gym somewhere I want to be a part of..
Andy, Amy, Maria, Daniel & Lukasz are all unique and offer very different but consistently great workouts.
They are very professional but also make it fun and do-able!
Andy takes a personal interest in his clients and it really shows by how vibrant the gym is and through the interaction of all the clients with the trainers and with each other.. It is also a very social place..
The atmosphere is like that of a community of friends trying to get fit and egging each other on..
We all sweat together and get fitter together, we have a laugh and complain about the exercises, but in a good way..
There is something very unique about this gym; it's a bit like a family and there is an 'all in together' attitude which I love.
For anyone that is struggling with finding a way to get fit, this is a great place to be a part of.
There is a great variety of classes and a timetable that seems to suit everything that I need.
So for the moment, I'm definitely still motivated and I love that and I hope that it continues..
I look forward to going to the gym and miss it when I can't attend..
A gym is a tool and if you use the tool correctly you can succeed at whatever your goal is.
Andy Kenny Fitness is a great tool to have access too.. and it's a place I want to try to continue with as long as I can.

This is a great place to work out. The trainers push you but are really supportive and friendly and there's always an atmosphere of fun mixed with determination.
I can honestly say I look forward to going to the classes in Andy Kenny fitness. The trainers take an interest in how you are progressing and support in your goals - I would never attempt weights in the past as I found going to other gyms was very intimidating. I've been attending Andy's excellent spin classes since before he set-up in his own premises, but more consistently in the last year or so. As a road cyclist aswell I have found the classes have really improved my overall stamina and strength on the road. Great gym with a really friendly and courteous staff!
It offers a lot of open space that doesn't restrict the training. Claustrophobia is definitely not a problem compared to other gyms.
Wide range of different trainings (kettlebells, slingtrainer, boxing, weight training, spin classes, etc.) suitable for all fitness levels. Furthermore, good equipment & highly qualified trainers!

I'm a big fan of Andy and the team and especially the classes. Really easy to do as only 30/45 minutes so no excuses and the online booking system is very handy. I would highly recommend Andy's gym to anyone who is looking to get stronger, toned and generally improve their overall fitness levels. While sport and fitness have always played a big part of my life, my goal when joining Andy's gym in January was to improve my strength and conditioning and learn the various weighlighting techniques the right and proper way.
Having limited weightlifting experience prior to joining Andy's gym, I have made steady progress during the last 12 week's and have gradually progressed to lifting heavier and heavier and reaching new personal bests.
What makes Andy's gym unique and sets it apart from other gyms/leisure centres is the personal interest each instructor has in seeing the members meet and exceed their target goals, aswell as the large number of class options available each week and month.
The weights classes are limited to 5 people at a time which allows the instructors time to encourage participants and focus on their technique and form. The S&T classes are also great and I try to attend a couple of times a week.

This is a gym for ANYONE. Everyone at all levels is warmly welcomed by the amazing staff and will get a great workout with any modifications necessary. I have scoliosis and the trainers always remember to watch out for my back or tell me if I need to do anything differently. The best part is you come in and it's all already planned out and you do it and then you're done 30-60 minutes later! Easy peasy. Great gym with a welcoming environment. There are a large selections of classes to choose from ranging from weights to spin. The trainers are energetic,enthusiastic and extremely encouraging. Andys gym should come with a warning "HIGHLY ADDICTIVE"☺ First time I've ever been able to say that about a gym in my life. Trainers are very encouraging and teach proper techniques. I joined initially for weightloss having been in and out of slimming groups for years but now my focus has switched to fitness and streight and that feeling is great. Have been going to the Spin classes since February when I stepped up my training for the Stelvio Santini Granfondo in Italy and after just completing it at the weekend I felt the need to let people know that these spin classes have brought me on no end in the last 4 months. I big into my cycling at use Andys KOM classes for winter training. If you are a cyclist its also great because everything you do is directly applicable to situations you will have on the road, from sprinting after a breakaway to climbing that really really long climb - no crazy press-up or squats on the bike! I've done other spinning classes with my cycling club and with cycling coaches but Andys KOM is definitely the best and toughest spinning class that you'll get in Dublin. Happy to be back! More...
I love that it's a gym but it's not a typical gym.... It's a great space, inclusive to everyone, with no feeling of inferiority because of mountains of equipment or hoards of muscle! All the trainers are extremely personable, encouraging without being pushy, genuinely wanting you to get the best you can out of the exercises you're doing. The class based format works really well - it's hard to be motivated to do an hour's class after a day at work sometimes, but doing a 30 min class, or a 45min one seems easier. The classes are small too, so the trainers really can focus on form and encouragement.
There's a real personal element, the trainers learn your name and strive to remember it. Andy's honesty about his own journey and his own struggles (even now) is inspiring - that's what drew me to AK fitness, and one of the things that'll keep me coming back. I started the body slim with AKF 6 weeks ago and I was so nervous about going back to the gym!! I was so surprised when I walked in how welcoming everyone was - the trainers and the ladies on reception are so nice and get to know you which I have never experienced before.. the dynamic of the Gym is brilliant it’s so welcoming and there is no aspect of judgement which I have experienced before in other gyms.. it doesn’t matter if your 5st or 50st everyone is there for the same reason to loose weight, tone up or overall to improve your fitness level... I joined a few weeks ago after looking for a gym which would work well with a busy work schedule. Andy's gym seemed perfect as there are so many different classes to pick from throughout the day so I can work around my work/social commitments. The instructors are great, they are knowledgeable, attentive and keep challenging you. The rotation of classes runs like a clock work, the classes are thoroughly planned and kept interesting each week. Feel very comfortable here, the beginner spin classes for half hour are bite size, not intimidating and still work up a sweat! Really enjoying it so far!
