So often people are not hearing you but I knew instantly that André was then man for us when I read his reply. André had referenced each point I had made in my short request and background email I had sent to him. André made it perfectly clear that he was listening. What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
It's unquantifiable, there's no one true secret. To me photography is about people, hands down my absolute favourite subject to capture are people’s intrinsic emotions and reactions. We’re alive, we act, react, we’re unpredictable, and just as important, we convey emotions, and that's precisely what I strive to encompass in my photography.
When you manage to capture that specific feeling and mood and the exact right time and composition, you should have yourself a great photo, or not ;)
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
No one expects the Spanish inquisition!
What you can expect is a small series of questions about your plans so far; the mood and theme you're aiming for, if any; any special requests you might have and the must have photos; and of course, when and where.
What do you love most about your job?
Easy; photographing people while they're running their daily lives. I love to capture the essence of the world as it really is, without the poses or the forced smile.
What inspired you to start your own business?
Photography has been with me as far as I can remember, I still recall winning my first film camera when I was but 12, and since then the fascination never stopped. Yet it took me over a decade - in jobs and classes I cared nothing about - to realise this was my true calling.
I am indeed fortunate enough to be able to do something I love.
Why should our clients choose you?
*raises hand excitedly* - Pick me, pick me!
Jokes aside, photography is fortunately very straight forward, as the saying goes, an image can speak for a thousand words, if you like my style of photography pick me, if not choose another photographer that suits your own tastes.
We're all truly dedicated professionals here and we love doing photography, that goes without saying, it's up to you to decide if you like what I present.
