We hired Ananda to convert a marshy area in our acreage into a natural pond with a small waterfall and recirculating system, and added a patio and fire pit space. The consultation process went very well, with Ron (the owner) and Jennifer (the designer) being very receptive to our ideas; they were also able to make suggestions which enhanced the project. I wanted to maintain a very natural look, and they were able to stay with that, while providing the expertise to keep the water clean (and not stagnant).
The building process went very well, with Peter and Evan providing professional and friendly service. Everyone was happy to accommodate any requests we had to change things and they all understood the "look" we were going for, and worked at achieving that.

I had Ananda Landscapes totally redo my entire outdoor space, front, back and sides, in 2015. A retaining wall was taken down and rebuilt right at the back of my lot. My backyard now has no grass. Instead I have a pond featuring 3 bubbling rocks and a small drop feature where water flows to a lower pool. The stones chosen have interesting fossils in them. The robins love taking a bath from the pond and sipping water from the rocks. I have a gas fire bowl that is under an existing tree with seating around. A second feature tree, a Mountain Ash was also planted and I can't wait for the cedar waxwings to flock to that in the winter. There are flagstones with creeping thyme and other low ground cover planted between them. Then there are beds of shrubs and perennials. The perennials have taken off over the summer. Maintenance has been easy. It is now a joy to spend time in my backyard and taking 15 minutes or so every week to pluck any weeds coming up through the mulch on the beds has been all that is required to keep the backyard tidy. We installed a bird house and a tree swallow pair immediately took up residence.

The sides of the house were terraced with steps and shrubs. That was always an area that I hated to mow and now it is a nice transition from front to back. The hydrangea shrubs gave loads of blossoms to bring into the house.

The front of the house we increased the foundation planting to reach out from the house. This is where my only grass on the lot is now. It only takes about 10 minutes to mow. I can run one side of the mower along the curb edging around the garden beds eliminating the need for edge trimming.

Throughout this complete redo of my landscaping the crew working on my lot was friendly and a pleasure to have on site. They worked diligently and quickly. We were blessed with good weather and the entire job was completed in 6 weeks. Ron and Jennifer were quick to reply to any questions or concerns I had. Over the summer, I had a couple of small things crop up and they responded quickly. In the fall when I wasn't quite sure how to winterise the pond Jeff, a foreman, came by to sort me out. I enjoyed working with Ron and Jennifer over the winter on the design so that all would be ready to start first thing in the spring.

We retained the services of Ananda Landscapes a few years ago. They designed the front and rear yard of our home and in 2013 did the rear yard. This year Ananda di the front yard. All work was very professional and done after careful consultation with us. They met our requirements and were very professional and thorough. When positive things result from serendipity, one has to be exceptionally grateful. We attended a presentation sponsored by the Calgary Horticultural Society on "Ponds" and "Pondless Water Features" the half-day seminar was conducted by Ron Jones, Ananda Landscapes, Calgary. We were very impressed with Ron's casual, thoughtful manner and his knowledge and understanding of water features and invited him to prepare a proposal for transforming our backyard. The developmental process was conducted in an intelligent and sensitive manner and incorporated our thoughts and preferences. We did not feel rushed, pressured or coerced. The construction began in the fall of 2009 and the crew was reliable and dedicated. They approached the challenges with dignity and took great satisfaction in their accomplishments each day. A strength of Ananda Landscapes is its emphasis on establishing and maintaining a positive relationship with the client and that was appreciated. I always wanted a fire pit in my backyard. I wanted something classier though, and permanent. A friend referred me to check out Ananda Landscapes and the work that they do. I was stunned to see the array of fire sources that they offered. The one that caught my eye was the fire bowl, it was exactly what I wanted. I contacted Ron and the process was easy and very straight-forward. I am beyond satisfied with his work. He listened to exactly what I wanted and gave his input too.
