It’s really nice that this place has some seating to enjoy their deserts. Tried German chocolate cake, cookie with raspberry and a piece of baklava. There is pricing on anything except the drinks. True artistry, both in aesthetics, and taste. Ordered a six pies, and 75 cookies for a work event. All awesome. One pie, their pie of the month, a cranberry cream something or other was one of the most amazing things I’ve ever tasted. Highly recommend.

Cute place! I saw a party upstairs making gingerbread houses, so it seems like this place allows large parties. The store had such beautiful cakes on display, and the whole place smelt so good it made my mouth water. The ham and cheese croissant used real cheddar cheese and was super buttery and flaky. I also tried the shortbread sugar cookie and the large apricot jam cookie. While both tasted good, and the apricot jam cookie had a nice interior, it seemed like both were baked a little too long (dry or slightly burnt on the outside). More...

Amphora's did an excellent job on my husband’s groom’s cake for our wedding. Thanks to the wonders of Pinterest we had a lot of fun ideas for his cake, which when speaking to bakers in our search were unattainable or would be extremely expensive to make. We were getting disheartened and were ready to simply not have a groom’s cake-when we met with Amphora's. They were wonderful to work with. We showed them a picture of what we wanted and they were able to create an exact replica at a price we could afford. They even made the slight modifications we requested to make it our own. My husband got to have his grooms cake thanks to Amphora's! His cake was made to resemble a baseball base with a baseball glove on it and a ball in the glove. It turned out perfect. I was beyond pleased with both the wedding cake and the grooms cake!! Both Maria Cholakis and Katie Metzbower were so wonderful and easy to work with from the cake tasting until right up wedding day. I was very back and forth when it came to the amount of additional sheet cake I wanted as well as the final design for the grooms cake and they were always so accommodating and flexible with my requests to make sure I was completely happy with the final result...which I was! We ordered our wedding cake here and it was spectacular. Flavorful, moist, beautiful ... perfection! A couple years later, we got an anniversary cake (smaller version of our wedding cake), and it was just as spectacular. Amphora Bakery is a true gem. It is a treat to visit and admire the artistry that goes into the cookies, cakes, and sundry delights. When I arrived to pick up my cookie order, they were in the process of boxing them up. Instead of just leaving me waiting - which would be fine because it is enjoyable to watch the action in their kitchen - they offered me a cup of coffee and made sure I was comfortable. My order was ready in a minute and it was an act of willpower to not immediately enjoy one of our cookies with my complimentary coffee. Megan picked out two cupcakes, one chocolate, one vanilla, with this extraordinary frosting, for our wedding anniversary. I wish I had a picture ....we looked like we had just eaten the most amazing cupcake in the world with the frosting on our happy faces! Not only does Amphora have the best sweet treats in the metro DC area, they have this amazing space in Reston with fantastic music (real jazz, not the elevator variety) and cool chairs and tables for working or meeting with buddies. The bakery is beautiful, clean, and creative with their designs. They accommodated us with a vegan cake! The bakery is nestled among other shops in the Herndon area. I thought it was small but once inside it is a two-story brick bakery with lovely chandeliers, quaint atmosphere for having a bite of lunch, and a loft where one can watch the bakers. Our cake was delicious! The bakery was easy to work with and provided a free tasting. We chose a vanilla lemon buttercream cake, 2 tiers, with a simple mint green fondant ribbon. It was delivered on time and it was beautiful!! The bakery also provided items for the "All American Dessert Bar" (we used Amphora Catering for our dinner as well). Sorry it took me so long to write a review. I absolutely loved this place! They did our wedding cake a couple years ago and were so accommodating considering I had a very detailed pinterest post I was going off of and every time I look at our wedding pictures, I still love it. I also really do not like cake in general and we made two tiers raspberry preserves and one marble with chocolate buttercream. I actually loved the raspberry layers and was happy I could enjoy my own wedding cake! :) More...
