Americana is one of the hidden secrets of Mill Avenue.  Great food, great service, $2 Bud Lights, Espresso Martinis...what more can you ask for? Classic American food as the burgers and wings are excellent!  Need a brunch spot?  This place checks all of the boxes  and you won't leave with a whole in your wallet. I would also recommend checking out the Thursday night specials.  The staff is what particularly makes this place great!  They get to know you personally and they remember our drinks every time we visit.  This is my favorite place on Mill due to the menu variety, food & service.  Overall it is a great experience and I would recommend this place to anyone! Bartender and waitress were both top notch and were super friendly to our large party. I was just traveling through Tempe, but if I lived there, I would definitely make this restaurant one of my regular spots. Great atmosphere, and they let us play the MSU vs. UofM game on the TV right next to our table, and MSU won, so it made for a perfect day! We were out here for vacation and Oakland A's spring training. We saw a Restaurant.com discount for this place, read the reviews and decided to try it. Tuesdays and Thursdays we were informed are "party" nights, especially Fat Tuesday which is when we ate here. Lots of young people, mardi gras beads galore, and loud rap music. We were overwhelmed. But, the food was good. I ordered the French dip which was on a roll that was delicious and the tots were the best I have had. He ordered the mushroom burger with cheddar and salad, and unfortunately it arrived with no cheese. Not sure what happened there. This place was really good! The happy hour specials are decently priced! I had the buffalo chicken sandwich, it was really good, flavorful! The bacon and cheese tots are good! The sliders are really good, multiple options on sliders! The only down fall is mostly craft beers unless thats your thing! I would recommend this place people to try. I will visit again! I would imagine when the Sun Devil's are in town, or their is a big game on, this place gets rockin.  But we were there around 4 on a Monday afternoon, so it wasnot crowded. No matter.  Our very pleasant waitress took a drink order, answered oir questions about the menu, and we ordered food.  The drink was refreshing and well made.  My burger with chilies, bacon and egg at first had buttered bread which I specified not to have, bit she cheerfully took it back to the kitchen and swiiftly brought it back, apologizing for the error.  No biggie.  The sweet potatoes were excellent.  My wife ordered a grilled cheese with salad and enjoyed her meal as well.  A solid 4 stars More...

Wow. This place is truly a gem of Mill Avenue. Forget all those other dives with bad service and bad food. Americana is where it is at. This is our third or fourth time here and it's so good! We came for the bottomless mimosa brunch and we were not disappointed! Our waitress was very attentive and made sure we were never lacking any of the delicious, boozy nectar. The food did take a while to come out, but we stayed busy with the mimosas and it made the time go by faster. I had the chocolate chip pancakes and they were very good, and bigger than expected. GREAT experience! We selected this restaurant to use our restaurant.com coupon, because it had great reviews. We were skeptical - we've tried a lot of 4-5 star-reviewed restaurants and are usually disappointed. This time we picked a Winner. Americana Tempe is in the heart of downtown, and seems to be popular with the local college students. There are lots of big screen TVs playing sports of all kinds, and a portion of the bar is open-air. We chose to sit inside and had a large, comfy booth. The service was friendly - really appreciated that our server let us know they were short-staffed, so we didn't wonder at the speed of the service. We ordered drinks - my strawberry margarita was Great! My husband got a craft beer. We ordered the Americana Club - Real bacon, quality turkey slices, tomato and lettuce, and a French Dip with Perfect au jus - not too salty like most places. Great food, great drinks, great service - we would Definitely return!My only problem was I wish they had a parking lot. We had to park around the corner, and I have bad knees so the walk was difficult. But the handicapped spot was Free so that was a bonus. Next time I'll just have my husband drop me off first. Well in Tempe you need to pay for parking so it's about $2 an hour. Service was about slow. We got the Americana nachos, it was huge and cheesy. I got the sliders, they we okay. My brother got the Americana club, it's like a Blt. My sister got the grilled sandwich. Okay food, pretty average. The wings were really good, we got them with no sauce and had the sauce on the side. Came here for a yelp event and haven't stopped coming back.  The food is INCREDIBLE, and portion sizes are super generous so while prices might seem a little high, everything can feed two people! Happy hour deals are so great which is one of the reasons it's hard to stay away.  Ambiance is super funky, and full of musical instruments.  The service has been on point every time.  Kelsie is AMAZING, ask for her!  Seriously, she has been our waitress almost every single time and she has never given us anything except exceptional service. The only thing keeping me from giving this a full 5 stars is a brunch (or lack thereof) experience we had.  We got there by the time their website said they opened and the doors were locked.  When I emailed about it I didn't really get a full response or apology.  Other than that every single experience has been on point. We really enjoyed our meal and time here. You know what they say, if it’s crowded, it’s probably good. The French Dip was amazing. The meat was so tender and juicy and the horseradish sauce put it over the top. Our waitress, Mercedes, was very good and offered her opinion on several items to try.
