Heard about this place from a friend and had to check it out. Service was fantastic and employees were very friendly. We got the spicy cayenne hummus, dolmas, pita bread, and the beef shawarma and beef and lamb kabob.

You're probably not going to find Ameera bread on any of those lists that the rest of the country like to make about the Portland food scene. Which is fine: the tourists can have those crowded, expensive spots. I'll stick to places like Ameera. Hole in the wall? Sure is. Hidden gem? That too. Serving up some of those authentic Middle Eastern and Mediterrean food in Maine? Without a doubt.This is probably my favorite falafel in the city. It's moist and flavorful, comes on their mouthwatering house-made flatbread with hummus, veggies, pickles, onion, and your choice of sauce (get the tzatziki or mango; or both! they're sooooo good. the sauce comes on the side, FYI). It's under $8 and is FILLING. Also good? The the muhamara, the tabouleh, and the makdoos. Oh, and if you're super hungry, for $15 you can get a meal: a sandwich, fries, hummus, pickled veg, two dolmas, and a drink. It's A LOT of food. A lot of really, really delicious food that is.There's limited parking directly in front of their store (like two or three spots), so your best bet is to park directly on Forest Ave instead. Also, this is takeaway food not a dine-in spot (there's one table with a few seats) - annnnnnd, you can order online ahead of time. Lots of premade stuff in their cooler and freezer, too, so if you're on your way to a party and you forgot to pick something up - grab a dip and some pita here and be the star of the show! More...

Must eat here! I had the Ameera falafel wrapped in fresh naan, the makdous- fermented stuffed pepper holy cow yum! And baklava. Suck unique flavors, such a fun dining experience!
