I have been going to Alonsay Salon for years and I am a huge fan! There is such a welcoming and familial vibe every time I'm there. Tova is a master with eyebrows and I wouldn't trust ANYONE else to shape them for me! My newest obsession is the Bellington Farms hair tonic! It literally changed my hair! I almost always need to get a trim every 3-5 months because of my split ends. It's been 9 months since I got the tonic and still NO split ends!! My hair has been able to grow so much faster and get so much longer than before! I have been a loyalist of Alonsay's since they opened and a client of Tammy Allen's for 20 years. This salon is a special place thanks to all of the wonderful and talented people who work there. Tovah is a beauty and brow artist! Long before there were other places, Tovah was creating the most perfect and individual brow shape for each client. Her waxing is painless, and her tinting of brows and lashes creates a beautiful look. She is also talented at filling in spaces by tatooing the color. I have been going to Tova at Alonsay for 20+ years. Actually have followed her from salon to salon until she opened her own. I followed my hairdresser, like an addict needing a fix.  Jeri, formerly of Hair Lounge, is now at Alonsay.  As always, Jeri is the best stylist and brings her professionalism and heart to this place.  My husband and I have been seeing Jeri since 2009.  She understands men's and women's hair and is a true pleasure.  As mentioned in a previous review, my hair is long and my husband has course hair,  Jeri knows exactly what we are looking for.  Also, she is a wiz at color and highlights.  If you want personal service and great customer care, trust your locks to Jeri. I love Alonsay!To be more specific - I've been going there to get waxed by Tova for years and years. She is utterly amazing. So sweet and SO good at what she does. I never have had a bad reaction when she waxes me.Everyone else there is super nice as well - and there's always coffee and goodies out for anyone who's waiting and wants a snack.The only potential snafoo is the parking.  The lot in the back is kind of small, but there's usually parking on the street so it's not a huge deal. I bought Vera's Groupon this week for $129. This gave me a full set of lashes AND 2 refills, but I will keep coming back long after my voucher expires. Don't be fooled by the absence of before/after photos online, she has a whole binder she plopped down and showed me (she's just not tech savvy, hence the lack of web presence LOL). She is X-Treme Lash certified (this is what all your celebrity idols wear most likely, ya know, where you do a double take and drool at their "good genes") Anyway, I even took the time to make my own before/after picture since she doesn't have any online yet. BREAKDOWN:Classy Taste: She doesn't strive for the fake, glammy, porny look. Vera's lashes  will raise questions in your circle of friends.."Did she...grow those "   "I think those are hers"   "No those aren't fake, I can tell when they're fake"Great Eye: No pun intended. Her eyes are pretty, but I meant she has a great eye for detail. Sweet as Sugar: Just that, sweet ass personality. Just great.Accommodating: Water, neck pillow, let's you sneeze, let's you worm around if needed due to restlessness (just warn her)Thorough: The WHOLE thing, from signing the waiver, filling out medical information, cleaning my makeup, and lashing up, took 2.5 hours. I didn't feel processed. She really cares. I was very comfortable, and didn't feel a single lash being applied.........hello?............are you there?.............I feel nothing. I used to go to a terrific stylist who does hair for a lot of the major celebrities and studio execs, and I never thought I'd leave him. Even when he moved from Beverly Hills to Studio City I drove all the way from Marina del Rey to have him cut my hair in the Valley!  So when I made the move over the hill I was excited about having him practically around the corner. Unfortunately it became more and more difficult to get an appointment and his prices went up. Plus, he's a cut specialist so he usually has someone else at the salon do the color, and the last 2 times she did mine I did NOT get the results I wanted. I was griping about it at the gym one day when someone overheard me and told me I should see Tammy Allen at Alonsay...so I did. *Best* decision I've made about my hair. She's a great stylist, got my color exactly right the first time (and has continued to do so every time since), she's pretty accommodating in terms of scheduling, and she doesn't charge a fortune.As others have mentioned, the parking situation isn't great there. Right now I only live a few blocks from the salon so I just walk if I'm coming from home, but when I move farther away, finding parking will be a minor inconvenience for great service. The only other thing that prevents me from giving this place 5 stars is physical comfort. The one common seating area where you wait for your appointment is a single rock-hard bench, it's always too warm in the salon when I'm there (particularly when you're wearing one of those suffocating, synthetic robes or protective capes), and the hair-washing sinks are really uncomfortable - they need better padding, or a more ergonomic design. But I'll gladly suck it up as long as Tammy continues to do such a great job with my hair. More...

Got a FANTASTIC Brazilian Blowout from Martin at Alonsay last week!  It's the real deal-- not one of those "keratin treatments" that promise the world but are more like a deep conditioner than anything. Martin was super attentive and managed to tame my crazy curly frizzy hair without completely flattening it.  Now it takes me literally 5 minutes to do my hair and it looks fantastic.  Highly recommend! I have been going to Alonsay for many years now. Tova has been shaping my eyebrows - consistently picture perfect. She is a true artist. I love this salon. It's my favorite salon ever! The experience is always so relaxing. The ambience of the place is sublime, yet with a warm lived in feel. It's not too sterile like some and not to loud and trendy like some.The staff are all cheery and sweet. Stacey on the front desk is always very friendly and efficient. Walking into Alonsay is always an enjoyable experience because the ambiance is beautiful, sophisticated and classy.  I have been a client of Tova's (who is also the owner) for 15 years.  She is an absolute expert!  Aside from her expertise, she is a lovely person.  She and her staff are a wonderfully cohesive group that really enjoy working together.    I also like the fact that there is not a big turn-over at Alonsay.  The same professionals have been there year after year.  I believe the reason is, because Tova creates such a wonderful working environment for not only her staff, hairdressers etc...but for her customers.  I always feel welcomed and that they are happy to see me.   They also use top of the line products for waxing, facials and hair care.  I cannot recommend this place highly enough!!!  I am looking forward to Tova taking care of my waxing needs for the next 15 years. I have been going to Tammy, one of  the owners, for 3 years! Yes, Alonsay is simply as good as it gets.Tammy Allen was recommended to me by my sister when I was getting fed up with my other salon for backing up appointments and then rushing through when I'd been on time. Alonsay is relaxed and friendly but totally professional. I've had my hair cut, colored and had a Brazilian Blowout and was totally happy with the results. I rarely have a problem getting an appointment the day I want to come in, the services are competitively priced, all the stylists--and other customers -- are friendly and upbeat the results are always terrific. I look forward to going to Alonsay.Yes the parking lot is small, but I usually park on the street (no meters) within a block.If you are tired of the attitude of other places, give Alonsay a try! Genevieve is terrific and is DEVA curl certified.  DEVA certified is a technique for cutting curly hair.  I needed a DEVA cut and called Alonsay.  I saw the sign in the window saying DEVA CERTIFIED and that was it.  She saw me that Saturday and did a wonderful job.  The salon is clean and fresh and centrally located in Studio City.  Street parking is best.The rates are very reasonable and the vibe is professional yet hip and relaxed.Highly recommend. This is a little local gem in Studio City, next door to The Big Chill yogurt and two doors down from Floyd's Barber Shop on the corner.  Co-owner Tammy Allen is such a fabulous, down-to-earth person, and I think her great attitude infuses the whole place. The prices are super reasonable considering the service.  She actually does everything herself and doesn't pass her clients off to an assistant!   The desk staff are always super polite and helpful, and they've got a waxing person who is so sought after, she's always booked to the gills.  It's just a really nice, professional, friendly vibe, which I really appreciate.  The only drawback to Alonsay is that the parking lot in back is really small and can be hard to maneuver or even get a spot.  Be prepared to look for street parking if it's full. I have been going to Jackie Alexander (who is terrific) for 7 years now. I've never been happier with my hair especially the color. Alonsay only uses Goldwell products which may be a bit more expensive but the results are worth it. Tovah has been "retraining" my eyebrows which now look fabulous! I have been going to Tova at Alonsay Salon for 20 + years for all my waxing and facial needs.   Well, actually before she even opened Alonsay - I've followed her from salon to salon.  NO ONE has touched my eyebrows in 20 + years BUT Tova and no one ever will.   Obviously I cannot recommend anyone higher.  In addition, (Tammy, the other co-owner) is a wonderful hairdresser and color expert.The whole vibe of the place is friendly yet professional but with a laid-back feel with simply the nicest people at a salon I've ever seen.   Prices are great and the service outstanding.  So give them a call and make an appointment.   p.s.  this is my first ever Yelp review - meaning I'm not one that dolls out compliments easily.   Or at least I rarely ever take the time to do any sort of posts.
