I had a great first experience at Alma School Animal Hospital! I originally called to reschedule an appointment that I made online, and was told that there was time for me to come in, same day, if I wanted. Great!The staff were fantastic. They were great with my dog and took the time to talk through everything with me. I've had appointments at past vets that felt a little too rushed, but that was definitely not the case here. Arizona Basset Hound rescue referred me after I adopted a dog. Everyone in the front of the office is super friendly and they have been very accommodating with scheduling appointments. There are 3 vets and all of them are true animal lovers. The Vets here are very good. Recently we had to help our senior cat cross over and we chose Dr. Junger for that appointment. It helped immensely when she said she felt we'd made the right decision about it being his time to go. I think if we'd made that decision prematurely she would have been honest about that as well. To know she agreed helped lift some of the guilt and pain I felt.Prior to this, Dr. Junger had achieved what 4 other previous Vets never could. Our senior kitty had a recurring issue with a toe infection. He was always given more or less the same treatment by everyone I took him to ,and the infection would return. Dr. Junger thought of using Penicillin, instead of the usual antibiotics that are given to cats. IT SOLVED THE TOE INFECTION ONCE AND FOR ALL. Dr. Junger has 30 years of experience plus she "thinks outside the box".One complaint I have is with their rude office manager, Rhonda. Stress with my cat due to various health issues was ongoing. I expressed disappointment and confusion when an appointment I had was cancelled without being asked if I'd like to keep it. I'd asked to come in sooner than scheduled - and then my other appointment was cancelled automatically. ---Yet a different person in the office had been helping me hang on to an extra appointment here and there because they realized the situation with our cat was complicated and knew we might be needing to come back during the same week. Now that's what I call being kind and helpful. In any case, even if I'd been under a "wrong impression" about keeping an extra appointment or being asked first before anything was cancelled, Rhonda quickly turned snarky and argumentative. Shocking and upsetting, so I asked her to put Dr. Junger on the phone. "Can't,she's in surgery", then I asked her to just put another receptionist on the phone - but Rhonda actually refused to put anyone else on the phone but insisted on being rude and argumentative to me. WHAT WAS HER POINT Then I said I wanted to talk to the office manager and that's when I found out Rhonda happens to be the office manager. Rhonda kept talking over me, I raised my voice and said I wasn't going to listen to her and to put someone else on the phone...and she kept talking over me anyway and refused to let me speak to anyone else...my voice kept going up and I kept asking to speak to someone else {didn't want a rude person like Rhonda} and this went on until I was yelling at her. She was yelling at me as well. In fact Rhonda was trying to out-shout me. I wondered afterward how many people had to have heard her yelling.THAT is their "office manager". SAME DAY as that "situation", is when I had to bring my cat in so he could go to Heaven. He'd struggled long enough. And I wasn't going to let Rhonda and her attitude prevent us from coming to our Vet of choice. We went back in regardless of Rhonda.Rhonda couldn't handle it when she heard I was disappointed and confused over the cancellation {and had the "nerve" to express that to her...} she can't handle that as an office manager then I can't see how she can handle anything. That's the only reason I didn't rate this place as 5 star. If I had to rate Rhonda she'd get zero stars. More...

We've been taking our dogs here for over 10 years. Love all of the staff, especially Dr. Junger & Dr. Christian. We have an ancient English bulldog & we credit her good health to the care we receive there. Two & a half years ago, she had to have her spleen removed (yikes!) & they are the only office we would trust to do that. They are usually pretty busy (so plan ahead for appointments!!), but take their time with your pets & listen to your questions & concerns. More...

Highly recommended.They're conscientious. A kind of "real deal" place, they don't charge outrageous prices either.The staff is down to earth, it's not a twitchy or snobby place. The dental cleaning my kitty had here was reasonably priced and it went well. Today my kitty got a "sanitary shave" ,they treated her nicely and even called me into the room to see if I liked the shave or needed a little more done for her.
