Avo Cafe has a tremendous plant-based/vegan menu, friendly staff, and a chill back patio. It's also extremely dog-friendly! The pizzas, bowls, and various baked goods are all delicious. There's also a wide array of snacks and goods for sale if you're not in the mood for a full meal. The spacious back patio is the perfect place to decompress, study, chat, read, or bird watch (seriously: there's a giant parrot that often hangs out on the tree at the neighboring pet store). Wanted a little brunch spot that wasn't too far from our Airbnb and we happened upon this place. Looks sort of unassuming, but they have a really nice little back patio and a phenomenal staff. My friend got the Avo Toast which she said was delicious. I had been wanting to try an acai bowl for a while, and this was my chance - they called it a Superfood Bowl. It was also fantastic. Great food, great service. We even got to meet the parrot, Jimmy that lives at the pet store next door. He hung out on his perch while one of the Avo Café staff fed him some watermelon. This place is good! Vegan and organic, lots of really delicious sounding menu items. I got a BLA sandwich with tomoato. Great tempeh bacon! delicious organic panini! The plant sauce (like tatziki) was good too. Very good coffee choices (espresso based). Really informative and helpful staff. He explained many menu items to us in great detail. Alkaline water is free and self serve. Outside seating is expansive and nice. (you could have a great party back there!) There is free parking around back too! More...

Stopped in for lunch today as I was staying at a nearby hotel . I’m not a total vegan - but AVO really exceeded vegan food I’ve had before. Amazing AVO bowl, with avocado, quinoa and sweet potato hash and spinach. Hearty, generous serving, fresh and great tasting. Also had a smoothie with dates in it - yum- filling incredible rich flavor - I’m all set for the day. Nice friendly unpretentious staff as well. PS they have a lovely back patio, where you can sit in the shade and see the Macaw that lives in a tree next door. Fantastic . You won’t be disappointed More...

Honestly I really would have never expected that plant based food can taste sooo good.. if you ever wanted to try - that's the place to go! I have passed by the Cafe a few times before going in - extremely clean, organized and boy - friendly staff amazing - the staff alone deserves 5 stars! The back patio is just perfect and has  a nice cosy setting.Yesterday I had the Chesy Pesto Bacon Pizza- actually I think the taste is far better than real bacon and real cheese. We decided to check out Avo Café while staying in Santa Monica and it did not disappoint. It was a 15 minute walk from the Santa Monica pier but it was a beautiful stroll along the ocean. I honestly wasn't sure what to expect but I'm telling you I was VERY impressed with everything we ordered. We got the India bowl and BLA bowl and both were so flavorful and refreshing. They also serve complimentary alkaline water which was an awesome touch! The outdoor patio is so relaxing and the service was really great, the owner was so sweet! She brought out our food and an extra pitcher of water. We left full and very satisfied, highly recommend!! More...

Had the mexicana bowl, tofu panini and a smoothie and all were great! Reasonable prices and love that it's organic. The back patio is huge with nice seating and a neighbor Macau who was very entertaining!

Oh. My. Goodness. ALL THE DELICIOUS PLANT-BASED CHOICES!!!! Today was my first time going to AVO Café and it did not disappoint! !! In recently transitioning to a plant-based lifestyle, I was soooo excited to find this place. It's a true treasure right here in our local neighborhood~ The food is incredible! I had the Superfood Smoothie: Banana, dates, maca, cacao, and almond butter= YUM! It was so good, I got the AVO Bowl to-go for later!The place is bright, clean and absolutely adorable. There is even an outdoor patio in the back with chessboard tables and family-style picnic tables & benches. And the staff!! They are friendly, professional and knowledgable about living and cooking in a healthy way. They make and serve the food with such care. Avo Cafe has just opened up around the corner from my apartment and I'm very happy about it! Just a couple of blocks from the beach and a 10 minute walk from Downtown Santa Monica, it's a great place to grab a late breakfast or lunch. I've been by a couple of times now; it's not been too busy and there's lots of seating on the patio outside in the back (which is dog friendly). The first time I went I got the the Mediterranean Panini and a Jam Dot which was delicious. The second time we split an Avo Pizza and a delicious slice of chocolate cake. I also grabbed a bagel with plant cheese to have from breakfast the next morning. They have a great selection of grab and go stuff, so if you're on your way down to the beach and are looking for a great plant based lunch, this would be a great place to stop off. I haven't tried everything yet but I intend to stop by regularly and try the whole menu. It's great to have a new vegan cafe in town! The staff are very friendly and welcoming. I've gotten the tofu pesto panini a couple times because it's so good and I love the spice, with a matcha latte - I love that they offer to make it with coconut sugar, just how I like it :). I finally tried something new, their bagel with cream cheese and wow, the cream cheese is so good! I wish I could buy it by the bucket! Now after that and seeing the photos on yelp, I'm gonna have to keep going back to try everything. Last but definitely not least, the owners are very nice and friendly! I posted many pictures so please refer to them!! Love this place!! The flavor in the BLA bowl was bomb. Had a nice kick to it, and I loved how crunchy the lettuce was. It is very filling. I also thought the tempeh was cooked to perfection. The sweet mashed potatoes were also incredible. I love that they drizzled some of their raw sauce on them. The jackfruit tuna wrap was also a favorite. It tasted like tuna, and I thought they put the flavors very well together. Their jam dots were awesome. Not too sweet and delightfully chewy. I love this place. The food is brilliant, taste amazing, also feels very healthy. I ate a cookie and felt like I could have more without the guilt. I ordered a pizza and didn't feel guilt. I'm a npc bikini competitor and currently in prep and so its amazing to eat a cheat meal with no guilt and I think I can incorporate this into my diet structure. I'm so excited about this place and can not wait to go back to explore the entire menu. Ps the owners are amazing. This is the purpose , they know what they are cooking and it comes from their heart space. I love love love soo excited. Thank you guys. AVO Café is amazing! Truly a hidden gem in the heart of Santa Monica for coffee enthusiasts, café workers, and the health/eco-conscious (plus you don't have to be a vegan to enjoy their insanely delicious food). I tried the BLA Panini, which was a hard choice but definitely a worthwhile one. As a non-vegan, I thought the "Tempeh bäcon" was better than actual bacon. Not only did it have a bold smokey taste, but there was no regret or oily residue that usually turns me away from eating bacon in the first place. The intense care for healthy and environmentally-friendly ingredients is parallel to how they use them, and for almost everything less than $10 (max price on food: $14), you can get an amazing meal that tastes and feels great without breaking the bank.Also, very important, they have a huge back patio. I like to work at cafés, but so many places in Santa Monica are too congested to even enjoy the environment, so having plenty of outdoor space to relax and focus is very refreshing. They also have an email list for up-and-coming events after normal business hours, which adds a whole new dynamic to what AVO can offer the community. Lastly, Nick and Sher offered very caring and friendly services with an obvious passion for what they do. Their positivity is contagious, which is enough for me to want to come back by itself. After spending countless hours at dozens of local cafés, this might be my overall best recommendation worth more than just one visit. More...

This is my Monday Morning go to spot. I am working my way thru the breakfast menu and everything has been incredible. Lots of little touches that make the food wonderful. Super friendly workers! Delicious food and beautiful cafe with a nice back patio. I had the chësy pesto panini and it was so good; the bread was crispy and fresh along with the veggies in the sandwich. This is a great casual cafe to stop by on your way to the beach or just grabbing breakfast or lunch with some friends!
