What makes a great website?
A great website is one that captures the viewer's attention and successfully generates leads. The website should have a clear call-to-action, easy to use navigation, and should have just the right amount of content to keep the user interested and engaged. All websites need to be well optimized and fully responsive, meaning they work across all browsers and devices.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
What is the purpose of this website? What is your #1 call-to-action? Who is your audience? Who are your main competitors? What are three websites that you like and why? How many pages will your website be (estimated)? Are there any additional features that your website will need (blog, calendar, social media integration, login functionalities, advanced forms, etc)?
Describe your creative process.
My creative process starts with a brand discovery process. I have a questionnaire that the client can fill out that digs deep into their company mission, values, audience, competition, and style. If we're doing a logo design, I'll then start a moodboard that the client can add to, so that we can clearly define the style they are going after. For websites, I'll have the client pick at least 3 websites they like and explain why. I'll then use that information to put together a design that matches their company goals and vision.
What information do you need from a client before you can start work?
That depends on the project -
Branding: Completed questionnaire, moodboard/inspiration examples
Website: 3 web inspo examples, all web content (text and images if they have any), hosting/domain login information
Other: Clear scope of project and any necessary assets to include
