I visited the spa yesterday, for a Swedish Neck and Back Massage, alongside a family member. This was purchased via an experience website, at a very affordable price! The massage was just amazing, they focused on areas which needed close attention, as well as providing a relaxing, stress relieving experience. The whole day was very enjoyed, with the ability to roam the premises and use all the leisure facilities, such as the steam room, sauna and outdoor spa. Our therapists were Jess and Lucy, who were very attentive throughout the service! Will definitely return again. More...

Stayed overnight in a very comfortable deluxe double room. The staff were very attentive, helpful and always smiling. Our treatments of massage and facial were great. The pool was good, a steam and sauna room, an inside and a couple of outside jacuzzi's, the gym was very well equipped. Evening dinner was the Christmas menu and the Sussex turkey on the main was delicious. There was a Christmas party in the hall next to the hotel, we asked if we could attend and were told that all people staying were able to attend for free after 9.30pm and felt that was a great gesture to their clientelle (though I don't know why this wasn't communicated to us as we only found out as we asked). Overall a great stay and would recommend this hotel/spa to tripadvisor readers More...

I stayed in this hotel for one week on business.||||The venue is a small hotel which was once a minor manor house and still looks a bit like one. It is situated in a remote part of Kent, quite near where the 'Battle of Hastings' took place in 1066.||||The original features of the house have been tastefully preserved; history is apparent all around. However, the bathrooms are bang up to date and the entire venue is spotlessly clean and well-maintained with double-glazing, air-condition and gas-powered imitation log fires. ||||The venue is an £8 taxi ride from Hastings which isn't great, but it is very peaceful and the spa and health club at the end of the drive is a great bonus. I enjoyed a steam bath, yoga and pilates classes as well as a daily swim.||||The staff were, without exception, kind and efficient. ||||Although I stayed on business this would be an ideal wedding venue. A really refreshing break with enough luxury to satisfy but be enjoyed guilt free.||Historic charm blended well with the beautiful contemporary decor in public and private spaces. ||The disabled facilities in the wetroom were well thought out, and Elemis shower products exemplified the high class quality and attention to detail. The rooms were spotless and in good decorative order.||One drawback was no ramp at front entrance so on crutches I struggled; but presumably wheelchair users would be aided.||I was actually offered breakfast in the bar to avoid steps into the dining conservatory: a small loss as this long Victorian construction had great views of the beautiful grounds, at night festooned with fairy lights.||The staff were unanimously friendly, efficient, polite, helpful and pleasant and there was in house training evident in the dining room.||A possible drawback for hotel guests is that the health club is a detached, wholly separate building so inclement weather, or disability is a barrier to fully enjoy all the facilities on offer.||That said, this is an ideal location for a visit to 1066 country, to Hastings and Rye's smuggling old towns and to explore an under looked part of the High Weald. I look forward to a return break. More...

Poolside was a little disappointing as there are only 2 loungers and 3 chairs which were constantly full so we had to keep moving from pool to steam room to Jacuzzi and around again. Ridiculously decadent but worth it!Reception:Efficient and polite.Building:NiceSuite:Bath in your bedroom, unnecessary but awesome. Super king bed, also nice. You can even talk to your partner whilst they are wrapped up in their duvet whilst you soak in the bath, until they drop off and leave you to watch the TV in peace!A separate lounge area to receive room service, totally pointless, but richly indulgent. And a separate shower room, in case you were not quite clean enough when watching said TV whilst soaking in said bath. As part of an oldish stately home there are some nice grounds to walk around, if you can br bothered to get out of the 'bathedroom'.Breakfast:Good selection of pastries and cereals as would be expected, as well as cooked food available. You can upgrade, for a small additional fee, to one of the Bennies of the day. You can get all of this in your room should you so wish, as long as you hang the notice on the door for some poor soul to read before 3am.You also get complimentay access to the Bannatyne gym which is in a separate building across the car park.It seemed this place was good enough for Girls Aloud and it was good enough for me.Would I stay again? Yes. Would I get out of the bath this time? Only to go to bed. More...

The reception staff were very efficient and helpful. We arrived prior to check in but left our bags at the hotel and were provided robes and towels and access to the spa. We had a light lunch of soup and sandwich at the bar in the hotel which was very nice and we spent the rest of the afternoon there as we had treatments pre booked. We came back and our room was ready. We had a small double which was actually quite large. The bed was huge, the view over the gardens was lovely and the bathroom was clean and came equipped with elemis soaps, shampoos and conditioner. Nice biscuits were provided as well as tea and coffee facilities. Everything was clean and the room was very practical. We went to the bar again for a drink prior to dinner and the wine is reasonably priced and we had a nice bottle of chapel down bubbles. |Dinner was included in the room price which is a bonus but on entering the restaurant we were not so impressed. The restaurant in the conservatory is a bit tired...the paint is coming off the walls, the decor a bit dated, and the conservatory was dripping rain water onto me towards the end of the meal. There was a fair amount of choice on the set menu but what annoys me is the amount of supplements on the menu!!! If you have a set menu make everything within the price of that set menu! The steak was an additional £12! If people would like sides that is acceptable to charge more but the starters, mains and deserts should fit within the price. The staff were all very friendly so it's a shame to say they were a bit useless! They were not very attentive, not taking dirty plates, taking a while to take orders, not sure what table food goes to....and it took half an hour for us to get desert menus. The food was fine. There was nothing wrong with it at all but also nothing amazingly special. All in all the restaurant was a bit disappointing. |Back to the room, and the mattress is VERY soft. This is personal preference that I like a hard mattress so not the fault of the hotel but it was very soft. And the pillows were also very soft so you sunk into them. Again this is personal preference but good to note! Overall we enjoyed our stay and the spa was also quite nice although in a separate building and have to walk outside between the hotel and spa. We would come again and maybe eat elsewhere next time! More...
