Alex played at the birthday party I held for my husband. He was perfect. I recommend him without reservation. He's an exemplary guitar player, but was also really professional and easy going. We only had about 25 people at the party, and I've never hired a professional musician to play in my home before. Met Alex at a retirement party for a senior executive from my company. Thought then and still think he's an incredibly talented musician. Got a DVD of some of his work and listen to it regularly. His Latin/Mediterranean riffs are so relaxing and are perfect if you like artists like Ottmar Liebert, Esteban, and Lara & Reyes. I've only seen him perform live that one time, but after listening to his DVD more than a few times, I'm definitely going to make an effort to see him perform live again soon and will recommend the same to others who I know would appreciate his music. As a native New Jerseyian, I decided to ditch the cold weather and have a destination wedding in San Diego, Ca in February 2016. As such, I had the undesirable task of hiring all my wedding vendors without getting to meet, taste, or listen to any potential services in person. The success of my wedding would be largely contingent upon my ability to choose the right vendors. Therefore, I spent the better part of the last few months conducting research to ensure that I chose vendors with proven track records of excellence and professionalism. I sifted through hundreds upon hundreds of reviews on various sites such as yelp, the knot, and weddingwire in order to narrow down my choices.
Fast forward a few months and I finally had Alex Guillen’s website up on my screen. Aside from the glowing reviews Alex had from other brides, I needed to hear him play. I clicked through a few of his songs and I could tell that he was very technical in his ability to play. This appealed to me as I really wanted custom music for my ceremony. Like many brides, I got caught up in other wedding issues and only managed to get my song choices to Alex a few days before the wedding. His response “I can definitely do an instrumental version of this song no problem!” I can confidently say that I could have given Alex any song under the sun and he would have been able to play it. He’s that technically proficient.
Ceremony day arrives and Alex is on time, dressed well, and performs very beautiful renditions of “Can’t Help Falling in Love”, “Bridal March” and “Stay Awhile” – Dave Matthews. I was not present prior to the ceremony (for obvious reasons) but was told by my husband that Alex took the initiative to play additional songs as we were running a bit behind due to an unruly flower girl. Alex was absolutely amazing for our beach wedding ceremony and cocktail hour!!  Alex was the first guitarist we interviewed and hired him on the spot.  We were blown away while interviewing him while listening to his songs we couldn't imagine not having him there on our big day.  Alex learned a brand new song to him for our ceremony which meant the world to us.  We didn't give Alex a set list of songs but rather gave him free reign to play songs fitting for the event and he did without a hitch!      Alex managed to get from our ceremony site to reception site very quickly and was able to entertain our guests while we took pictures.  We had many compliments on how amazing the guitarist was.  I would definitely hire Alex again and recommend him to anyone looking for a guitarist for any special event!  Thanks again Alex! Alex played at my Boyfriend's 40th Birthday party and we couldnt have been more pleased!  The party was in our backyard around the pool and Alex played for a few hours as guests mingled with drinks. His music was the perfect addition to the party and gave it that pop of class we were hoping for.  He played a mix of up-tempo songs that kept the party moving without being too loud or overbearing.  Everyone was commenting what a great addition he was.  Glad we were able to book Alex and would definitely hire him again! Alex is a talented and professional musician. My family hired him to play at my brothers service which lifted our spirits during a sad day. We made a special request and he accommodated by putting together a special rendition. We could not be more pleased.  We planned a Christmas Open House at our home in La Jolla and the guitar player that we had hired called us 2 days prior to the event to bow out because he was sick.  We turned to Yelp for help and based on reviews contacted Alex.  We are very thankful that we did.  He was outstanding even on short notice he played 3 hours of classic rock intermixed with Christmas music.   His guitar playing added a lot to the success of the party without drowning out conversation.  Our guests complimented us on how much they enjoyed listening to the guitar player. Alex was absolutely fantastic!! We were so glad we found him to play for our ceremony and cocktail hour. We were looking for someone that could play some classical/spanish guitar, some traditional wedding songs (including special requests), and then kick it up a notch with some lively jazz and flamenco for the cocktail hour.
