Once again had a nice meal with excellent service from our waitress. Unfortunately the night was marred somewhat by a visit to the bar. We ordered 2 cocktails at a cost of £16, I said to the barman to take one for himself, I was not expecting £6! I asked the bar manager if he thought this was acceptable and got the reply that if we're buying cocktails we should expect them to take the cost of one. The same barman served one of our party a little later and told them they were at the "expensive end of the bar". I found this to be a dig at my inquiry and a sense that it had been discussed and made a joke of. We gave a tip of more than 10% on a meal costing £94, which we were more than happy to do, but a tip of 25% for serving 2 drinks I find quite excessive. It has not put us off visiting again, we enjoy our nights there, but it will stop us from tipping the bar staff again. More...

We were given a table for 5 near the door which was not the best location. Upon request they reseated us quickly to much better location. We chose from the 2 for £12.95 menu and have to say it was really good quality and exceptional value with a full christmas diner and steak frites. Really enjoyed our meal at Albert's but we thought the tables where a little too close together. We where on a table for two sat next to another couple. There was only a very low and small divide between us and we could here each others conversations etc. I felt like I was sat at the same table and should have I introduced our selves to them!Otherwise lovely place. I dined here with my sister and three friends, all 60 years +. The staff, were very helpful, courteous, and friendly, and one young lady carried our bags for us to our table when it was ready. We went to alberts for my partners birthday lunch, we had our 8 month old son with us and I was a little worried when I booked as I knew it would be busy! But the staff were so accommodating, they gave us a table which had plenty of room where we could leave the pram and had a highchair waiting. The food was amazing as always. Great food in an amazing venue. The service was slow, but the restaurant was very full so it was understandable. The one negative was that the child’s fish and chips had bones in it which sent my 9 year old daughter in to a fit of anxiety and led to her refusing to eat any more. We went to the restaurant for my mother’s 90th birthday. Our table was booked for 3pm & we were seated in a booth on time. The restaurant was extremely busy & the service was a little slow. Once the food had been ordered , the starters came quite quickly. Everyone enjoyed their starters in spite of mine only being lukewarm.The mains came without much delay & again everyone was happy except me. I had ordered roast rump of beef(a Sunday roast style) . I was told the beef would be served pink , as I like it. But on arrival it came pink but not hot & the Yorkshire pudding was cold. My main went back to the kitchen while everyone was eating their’s.
