Alaska Wildland Adventures

Lucked out on Labor day weekend. Had clear blue skies and my gf and I were the only ones booked for a scenic raft tour. Got see the wildlife, salmons, and learn new things about Alaska. Libby, our tour guide, was superb. She was knowledgeable and great. She even went above and beyond and sung entirely of 'That's Amore' while we floated down river. 5/5 would do it again. More...

I want to give them a 10/5 stars. This is by far the best trip I have ever been on. They give you such an authentic experience with so many opportunities to get out into wild Alaska. They place a huge emphasis on sustainability, eco-tourism, and conservation, which makes my heart sing. All of the guides are incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. Each of the lodges is incredibly quaint and homey. They give you a backwoods vibe, but with all of the amenities. Every person we came into contact with won our hearts, especially Christine the guide, Kevin the hiking guide and ornithologist, Evan the chef, and Laredo the fishing guide. A trip to Alaska was #1 on my bucket list.  AWA made it a wonderful experience from the time I met my tour group (only 13 people in the group) and guide, Julie.  All the guides and drivers were knowledgeable, solicitous of our needs, kept us safe and taken care of, and let us have the Alaskan experience as much as a summer tourist can have.  Staying at the two very isolated AWA properties, Kenai Backcountry Lodge and Kenai Fjords Glacier Lodge, was the best part of the tour, including the wonderful food and great staff.  Weather and mosquitoes cooperated for the most part, as did the wildlife.  This was my second experience with a small, independent environmentally-minded tour company and I love this way of travel. We had a wonderful time on the Coast to Denali 7 day trip. Our guide Leigh was helpful and knowledgable as were all of the staff we encountered. Our experience at Kenai Fjords Glacier Lodge was the beat part of the trip. We lucked out and has wonderful weather every day getting to see "The Mountain" all the time. Thank you for taking such good care of my family and our quirky needs. The rest of the people on our tour were great, and by the end we all felt like one big family. Thank you.
