I commissioned Ajax Building to redecorate / refurbish a four bed home I’d purchased in Wimbledon. I am delighted with the service provided and heartily recommend them. The project involved fixing many damaged walls, reflooring, rewiring and some minor structural alterations. Jack, the owner, is a Structural Engineer who understands the details of the specialised workers he employees. It is exceedingly rare to find such a qualified foreman; typically they are just experienced builders.The staff themselves, builders, plumbers, painters, electricians were all incredibly polite and courteous. Some of them had even appeared on home-improvement shows in UK so you may recognise them!The quality of the work was excellent, and they hold themselves to a very high standard. Even when I was satisfied, Jack would point out things that could be improved and had his men fix them up. People now openly remark on the quality of the finish when they visit.Lastly the after-care has also impressed me. A few of the electrical units, such as specialised light fittings failed. This was due to issues with the maker of the unit. Jack sent men round to fix them, a year after installation and replaced them at no cost. We used Ajax for a refurbishment of a three-storey modern townhouse in Bow. The ground floor was totally remodelled - walls moved about, opened out, porch created, bifold doors, new kitchen/floor/underfloor heating/cloakroom. The middle floor had a new en suite bathroom, boiler, guest lavatory, bedroom - with door moved - and the top floor was a refurb/painting of a bathroom and two bedrooms. All was plastered and redecorated/tiled as required. Jack and his team were fantastic. They were competitive in their quote, they started promptly and finished when they said they would. Every specialist was great - the building inspector actually complimented the professionalism of the electrics and plumbing. Jack was also really helpful with ideas and sourcing of stuff when it all got a bit much for me! He recommended the kitchen designers who were also brilliant and creative. Also, I trusted the guys as they were respectful of my home and cleaned up well afterwards. Jack has since been round himself and sent people round to check all is well and to deal with snagging issues. Top marks, I recommend them wholeheartedly. More...

What makes a successful project? For me it’s the project team and I have to thank Jack and his team for a truly stunning result. I have done several major renovations, and this was by far the least stressful! On budget, on time and even the neighbours were impressed!! We started with a short list of 13 builders, six of which agreed to quote. Jack impressed me by his deep understanding of the project and the structural challenges it encompassed. The project was to construct an additional storey atop a Victorian terrace in Central London. This was to invert the apartment to put the living areas and kitchen on the top floor to create new light filled rooms that soak up the views of the City and London Eye. The project length was three months – over the winter months. (Friends said I was crazy building during the winter, but we never lost a single day, and it was finished in time to enjoy the Spring/Summer).A special thanks has to go to Jack’s team. Kris and Kamil and many other that were involved were all brilliant. A truly great group of workers. Everyone was well skilled and always conscientious and polite. The project required interaction with the neighbours and their feedback to me was so extremely positive. We used Ajax for the complete refurbishment of a 2 bed flat in Kensington. This involved re-wiring, re-plumbing, new radiators, lowered ceilings and recessed LED spots throughout. Some walls were repositioned. The flat was re-plastered throughout. All the skirting boards and architraves were replaced, and a wood floor was laid in the living room, bedrooms and hallway. The new kitchen and bathroom had underfloor heating under ceramic tiles.All this was done on time and on budget. Jack gave a full, written, competitive estimate and stuck to it, only changing things when we changed our minds.Work started on time, and Jack’s crew were meticulous about following the strict rules about quiet times in the block, which meant no noisy work between 2 and 4 pm.The plumbing and wiring passed building regulations and inspection by the freeholder’s agents, and there have been no problems with either since the work was finished.Jack very helpfully recommended great people for the flooring and the kitchen design and supply.Jack’s team were helpful and obliging – nothing was too much trouble.I have no hesitation in recommending them.
