What’s the secret to taking a great photograph?
Getting to know my subject - a photograph is personal and is beyond meaningful. Whether it is a moment in time, a milestone, or a session to kickstart a new beginning in ones life. I think the camera is a beautiful tool but the real key is to look beyond the technology - know what makes the individual who they are, the details that are important to them, their own story and what they want to portray through the imagery.
What questions might you ask a client when starting a new project?
Who, what, when, where, and why... The simplistic questions allow me to grasp and feel who you are and what you're all about. An initial consult should not be overwhelming. I simply want to know more about that person and why the photo session is so important to them. That way, I can tailor the session to what they value most.
and if they want me to say "1, 2, 3, cheese!" --- If so, my style is not a good fit for them. I prefer capturing real personalities and the beauty of the truth behind each and every single individual I have the opportunity to capture.
What do you love most about your job?
The people I meet. I think everyone has a story and I have learned something or taken something away from every single session that is meaningful. The real treat is watching people come alive a few moments into a session. Once they start to feel comfortable and get into their groove, it's so beautiful. I love when people leave feeling more confident than they did before I met them and that they had a fun experience---not JUST a session.
What inspired you to start your own business?
My passion and love for photography. It's been such a profound part of my life for more than ten years.
Why should our clients choose you?
Because I appreciate them. I'm passionate and love what I do. I'm not the average photographer. I do not do cookie cutter "stand still and cheese". I want to capture REAL personalities and help others see how incredible they are from my standpoint.
