Beautiful hardens with plenty of space for children to play and run and adults to relax and unwind. The volunteers in the house were very knowledgeable about the history of the house and the items inside. They were very approachable and ready to answer questions. It was an enjoyable experience. Killerton House is a beautiful place with stunning grounds. Despite being only a few miles out of Exeter, you would think you're in the middle of nowhere with rolling country side being the only view. On a sunny day the gardens are the main attraction. We often take a picnic and chairs with us and just sit in the gardens for the afternoon. There is a lovely little shop selling some great local produce, a cafe serving delicious food and there are walks that are suitable for all. I highly recommend visiting if you get the opportunity. What a fantastic & interesting place! Who knew that nestling in the Devon countryside was this little gem.
The views from the house across the rolling countryside are stunning and the grounds are so peaceful.
Currently there is an exhibition about the struggles of the suffragette movement & a tale of inner family disagreements. At the end, as a straw pole, you can "vote" as to whether you think 16 year olds should be given the vote.

Beautiful house and lovely aches of gardens and woodland. We are National Trust members, so cost was free.

Parking is good and if non National Trust is £3.

We had cakes and tea and the tea rooms at the back of the house. It was table service, which is unusual for a NT, but was lovely.

The walk from the car park to the house was not bad. However there is a good buggy for anyone with mobility issues.

Fab visit and will go back

Killerton is only a short detour from the M5, the main motorway to Devon. It is a joy to stop off and have a coffee and enjoy the house and gardens. You park in the old walled garden and walk through the stables which contain the cafe, shop and plant centre. It's always worth a look around these places. You approach the house along a very pleasant drive and you can enjoy the views over the pleasant Devon countryside. The house is not massive but it must have been very comfortable. The NT usually have a theme and the year I visited was the centenary of the suffragette movement. The inhabitants of the house back then occupied both camps so that must have been interesting. This place is well worth a visit. More...

As will most national trust venues this was interesting and enjoyable for adults and children alike. We visited during Easter hols to do the Easter egg hunt and it was very very busy over lunch time. However, the bright and cheery staff coped well. We were wrapped up warm and in waterproofs as it was muddy when wet but that just adds to the fun for our adventurers! More...

We are members of the National trust so entrance for us was free as was the car park .Prices vary from payment for car park to walk the many footpaths around the estate , to entrance to house ,gardens ,walks etc The house is the home to the N T costume collection ,some of which are always on display The theme for this season is Votes for women and there are displays in each room covering this This subject divided this family and you get to see both sides of the campaign and how they were affected
As usual there are paintings and furniture on display as well
The immediate groups outside at the moment are awash with snowdrops with the promise of more daffodils to come a few are already in flower . The bear house and ice house are worth a visit the rockery is unsuitable for wheelchairs as is the ice house But the views from the top paths are lovely The "Chapel " is also worth a visit the trees close by are a mass of pink/purple cyclamen which is amazing
There's plenty of room for children to run and a couple of play areas with logs etc to climb on and swings in one and a slide in the other
The guides were informative and friendly The cafe looked good although we didn't eat there There's a second hand bookshop as well as the NT plant sales and shop
Nearby at Broad cyst are other parts of the estate that can be visited

We've only walked in the parts of the grounds which allow dogs. The walking directions here are confusing (although I've heard this is the case with a lot of national trust walks). To start the walk you need to walk through the visitors centre (even with dogs), and the exit you need to walk through the gift shop, we found this confusing when we went the first time. Dogs are also welcome in the café. The grounds here are very scenic and make a perfect walk in early autumn when the leaves are starting to change colour. The walk we did is described as being two hours, however this depends on your individual pacing, we managed to do it within 50 minutes. Last time we were here we found that none of the parking ticket machines we working properly for members tickets, so you may want to locate a working one before parking too far away. More...

I arrived at Killerton National Trust on Wednesday. The staff were very engaging and able to relay interesting facts about the estate and the political history of the former owners.

The walk around the grounds was most pleasant, and the opportunity to step into the chapel was excellent. After a few hours at Killerton, I decided to treat myself to a pot of tea and a slice of cake; I found this to be good value for money.

I would revisit Killerton National Trust and would recommend a walk around the house, garden and tea room. The only thing which was a bit of a let down was the upstairs accommodation was out of bounds due to work being carried out on the roof.
