A community orientated place aimed at self-improvement and harmonising. Recommended for anyone looking to improve balance, groundedness, mental health and overall life style. - The teacher Istvan Steve Koloh is one of the most dedicated individuals: caring, inquisitive and deeply passionate. A place of true integrity, this form of Aikido is nurturing and flowy and very inspired. More...

Istvan (Sensei) helped connect me with true spirit of Aikido: Budo, Zen, Center to center connection. I was sad to leave due to change in personal circumstances.

Q&As

When I'm on the tatami mat practicing aikido, all the negativity, all the problems fade away. There is only joy and happiness.

I want to share the joy I get from Aikido training with others. I would like to build a healthy community through aikido. Aikido helped me to over come many obstacles in life.

I'm young in aikido but I try to understand every individual separately. We are all different. Most aikido clubs would try to teach everyone the same but we are not the same. We have different reasons why we want to train in aikido.

(Japanese: 合気道Hepburn: aikidō)[aikiꜜdoː] is a modern Japanese martial art developed by Morihei Ueshiba as a synthesis of his martial studies, philosophy, and religious beliefs. Aikido is often translated as "the way of unifying (with) life energy" or as "the way of harmonious spirit".

Ueshiba's goal was to create an art that practitioners could use to defend themselves while also protecting their attacker from injury.

Aikido's techniques include: irimi (entering), turning movements (that redirect the opponent's attack momentum), various types of throws and joint locks.

Aikido derives mainly from the martial art of Daitō-ryū Aiki-jūjutsu, but began to diverge from it in the late 1920s, partly due to Ueshiba's involvement with the Ōmoto-kyō religion. Ueshiba's early students' documents bear the term aiki-jūjutsu.

Ueshiba's senior students have different approaches to aikido, depending partly on when they studied with him. Today aikido is found all over the world in a number of styles, with broad ranges of interpretation and emphasis. However, they all share techniques formulated by Ueshiba and most have concern for the well-being of the attacker.
