Q&As

Generally speaking, if you can stand up in the middle of your loft, and there is around a foot of height or more above your head, then you can have a loft conversion.

This is not always the case however, as with detached properties it is possible to take the roof off and work from there.

First of all the scaffolding is erected which enables us to gain access to the loft from the outside, and pass all materials through into the loft.

From here we start to structure the inside of the loft. New steels are fitted, new floor joists are fitted and the dormer construction commences. After this is completed, we enter the insulation stage of the build, which involves insulating the walls and the roof slopes. All of the above is normally completed within weeks 1-4.

In weeks 3-4 the stairs are fitted. This is usually the first time that customers come up into the loft and sees their new space for the first time. This is and important stage as it allows the customer to have a running input as we continue to build the conversion.

After this stage is finished the electrics and plumbing first fix is completed. Once this has been achieved then the interior is plasterboarded and plastered. Here you really start to see your conversion taking shape.

The second fix trades are then brought in to bring the project up to the point in which decoration can start. The final stage is therefore decorating the loft, and once this is finished you will be ready to move into your new space.

It is important to note that throughout the build, a building inspector will make three visits to ensure that everything is going according to plan and that everything is being constructed properly.

I really enjoy taking dusty, wasted space and converting into something that is useable and aesthetically pleasing. I also love the fact that I am able to change the way people live their lives within their homes, and often producing end results that they didn't before think was achievable. This kind of work is rewarding in many ways and is why I have pursued this all of my working life.

The main reason by this is that I have worked before for 'bigger' companies and I was often left bemused at the way in which things were being handled. From customer care to day to day running of the projects, I just needed to do things in the way that I believed was best.

Because you will struggle to find another company that will match or better what we can offer.
