Had a great experience here. We called ahead to verify Sunday hours. Lucky we did bc they weren't correct on the Internet search results. Told them what I needed and gentleman went straight to what was the perfect fit and color for our needs (even tho it was a front runner, I didn't know at the time it was the one). When I went back early in the day to purchase fabric after measuring for how much I needed, the custodian was cleaning the store. It was pleasant to walk into a store that smelled clean & fresh. I'm not a very decisive shopper so was apprehensive about selecting new upholstery fabric for two couches; I get overwhelmed by myriad options. So I was delighted to find how comprehensive and sophisticated AHF's website was. . . with not only a high volume of fabrics, but many filters (manufacturer, etc.) to help narrow down choices.I jotted down a half-dozen names from the site and went down to the store to look at them in person. Frank was extremely gracious. He cut generous swatches of all my selections and a few others. He suggested I run them by my upholsterer to make sure they would be fine for the project.I did so, then went back on another day and was helped by Joey, who was also courteous, efficient and even concerned about my parking (that I had enough on the meter and didn't need to walk too far with my bag).I was pleased with the selection, service and excellent price, and will return to AHF first for any future upholstery/drapery fabric needs. These guys are wonderful to work with, very patient and not pushy. I had a bunch of questions, and they were super helpful. The prices are good and the selection is lovely. Very friendly and professional. But be mindful of the "deal" you are getting. When I got home, I divided the amount I spend by the amount of fabric yards and I didn't get a deal at all. I paid full price. My fault for not checking. Lesson learned. More...

Be forewarned if a female shopping for fabric in the Fashion District alone. I went into two separate stores before going to Affordable Home Fabrics (which I had driven out there for because of the yelp reviews) and was yelled at both times by aggressive salesman for wanting to shop around a bit more before committing to a purchase. And I've never been called "honey" so many times in my life, in such a condescending way.Walking in to Affordable Home was like a breath of fresh air. The store was much more organized than the others, and the gentleman who helped me was not pushy at all, offering help and suggestions only if I wanted them, but otherwise (as he put it) "left me alone". He was happy to pull some fabrics out for me to see them side by side (in the other store the guy yelled at me for not purchasing a fabric he had "gone to the trouble to pull out for me") and I didn't feel like he would be mad if I didn't purchase from him. That made me want to purchase from him, and so I did. I do have to say that he also called me "honey" several times and I didn't love it, but it didn't feel as condescending as in the other shops. After reading the Yelp reviews, I went here first to find fabric for my Roman shades. I found the perfect stuff -- on sale! -- but decided it couldn't be that easy, so I browsed the other shops for a couple of blocks. Then I came back to Affordable Home Fabrics, because no other shop came close.The quality and variety of fabrics were unmatched. And the staff were so patient, helpful, and friendly without being overbearing. This was my first trip downtown for fabric, and they didn't treat me like a nuisance or a moron. Love this place. Excellent selection, reasonable prices, well-organized shop. For years I've bought from another fabric store in the area and it has always been an exhausting experience - very little help or guidance. Came here and Joey was wonderful! He is knowledgeable, patient, friendly and helpful. Came with my husband (bringing him to the Other Fabric Store always resulted in a meltdown) and with Joey's help we chose three different fabrics in about half an hour! So I kinda don't want to write this review because I feel like I want to keep this place my secret!!! But no, I have to share this place because it is a gem! !! One day I found myself in DTLA in the fabric district in need some curtains for my sons room. I started off at the "well known fabric store" and thought there must be something out here that has something unique and affordable. I scoured the landscape going store to store in search of the right fabric when I happened upon Affordable Home Fabrics and I'm glad I did!! First off, the staff, unlike many of the DTLA stores was sooooo friendly and genuinely nice. They were very helpful and willing to give any sample I wanted. No "No Samples" signs here! They never seemed to weary of my multiple request for samples. Secondly, the fabrics. All I can say is I swooned!!! They have the most beautiful fabrics. I am not exaggerating, they have beautiful piece after beautiful piece. I saw at least 40 fabrics that I thought I needed to figure out how to have that fabric somewhere in my house. The fabric I settled on ended up being a Nate Berkus design. I had no idea until he put the fabric in my bag that I had designer fabric. Any other place would have been name dropping that to justify a higher price, which brings me to the last reason I love this place. Their prices are true to their moniker: Affordable. Don't bother going anywhere elseLook, I used to work downtown, so I probably don't dread driving down there as much as most people, but still. ..driving downtown in late July is never fun. Don't succumb to laziness and fear of downtown traffic! If you need fabric for an upholstery project, shades or curtains, get yourself down there. I love the fashion district, but it can be very chaotic. This store is an oasis in the middle of the pandemonium. The store is clean and well organized. The staff is so helpful and knowledgeable. I found exactly what I wanted but they did not have it in the store. He checked stock and said that he could have it by the next day. I was looking for a specific, denim-esque fabric style to reupholster my couch. I brought a few inspo photos and a picture of my own couch (with the dimensions) so we could get the proper amount of yardage. Walked into AHF last week in a panic to find fabric. Don't know my way around a fabric store. Joey was great. He took the time to work with me. He offered samples which I took home. I love this place! It's so organized and clean! The owners Joey and Frank were awesome! I went with my mom and friend and we all found something to take home. I actually got home and decided I wanted more of one fabric and they are sending it to me so I don't have to make the trek back into LA. They helped us figure out how much yardage we needed and were very patient with us. My mom was hesitant to go to LA, but after such s great experience with Frank and Joey, she can't wait to go back! My mother, husband and I walked all over the fabric district looking for fabric to reupholster our unique sofa for a wedding venue. We started with Affordable Home Fabrics, oddly enough, and ended our day coming back there. The quality of fabric and the price could not be beat. The store is clean and organized, unlike so many of them downtown. The men are friendly and not pushy. They gladly gave me a sample which I took to the man doing the reupholstering and he was very surprised that the one he picked was less expensive and a better quality than the other samples I brought him. This was the first store we went to. We then proceeded to check out every store in the surrounding area (and there are A LOT). AHF was by far the best and we came back to make all our purchases. They have a great selection of high quality fabrics. One of the few stores in the area with cotton prints available, and they have lots to choose from in that category. Omid and Frank are so nice! We went in a week ago looking for 50+ yards of fabric to have new slipcovers made for 2 couches and a love seat. Omid found about 3 that all would have been great, and then found another one. The last one that he found was actually priced LESS than the first three were, and it was EXACTLY perfect! When my daughter got her car from the lot, he showed her where to park on a little side alley and he carried all 57 yards of the fabric to the car for us. I told him that she and I could do it, but he was such a gentleman and insisted on carrying it to the car and loading it in for us! This place has a wonderful selection and Omid and Frank are really lovely gentlemen. I have a chair that is up next for a slipcover and you can be assured I will look no where else for fabric!! I was redoing the inside of an old van and I found the coolest outdoor fabric. It was pretty cool it had Cuba written on it and Cuban theme stuff on it. Turns out it was very durable because I have been putting my surfboard on it and it still looks new . The guys were great here and didn't rush me .
