I visited Jason Snyder for a majority of this year, I have never had such an amazing therapist. Unfortunately, Select Health no longer has him as a participating provider so I had to find another therapist. Marissa dropped what she was doing and gave my friend her full attention until she was sure she was OK to go home. With the suicide crisis in Utah right now, I'm really glad there is a compassionate LGBT friendly mental health counseling center in Provo, where we need suicide prevention more than anywhere. I was also quite impressed to find a WPATH trained gender therapist in Provo of all places as well.Thank you for helping my friend! I know a young man, who desperately needed help. He was spiraling downward fast. I feared for him.
After taking advantages of this service, and through the much needed therapy he received;

It’s always been a good experience going to Travis and I’m making progress and slowly getting new tools to use that I never had before. All my other therapists would look at me and say “i can’t help you” while Travis said “I WILL help you. I CAN help you.” And honestly, he has been true to his word.I have a LONG way to go, but I’ve been taking small steps forward when for many years now I’ve only been taking steps backwards. My partner came out as trans a few months ago and we looked and asked for recommendations on a good therapist and Marissa came up several times. He finally booked the appointment with her and has been happy about being able to find someone so upfront, supportive and caring about the trans community and him as an individual. When I was desperately trying to find help and guidance I found Marissa Sherman. I had been trying to find a therapist who has knowledge about the tramsgender community, Marissa had all that and more. Apon first visit I was nervous to be talking to yet another therapist totally expecting to her to just listen and not really care too much. BUT- to my surprise she was the most REAL therapist I've ever been too. We clicked immediately and she was very engaged and actually cared about the things I was saying. Helped me a lot with coming out as trans and figure out steps I wanted to take. I've had a couple people ask me who I'd suggest for counseling and always recommend anyone from Advanced Awareness.
