I've had a few lessons with adam by skype due, to the coronavirus lockdown. I consider myself an intermediate player but i get the impression he could easily teach advanced techniques. Great communicator and very experienced guitarist. I'll certainly be having more lessons when I've managed to get what he taught me under my fingers.
Thanks adam.

Adam has given my son a headstrong love of playing the guitar. Since starting his one on one tutorial in the year, my son has quickly gained his grade 1 with a fantastic result of a Distinction. Adam is patient and helps my sons interest by teaching current as well as timeless tunes. Very much recommended. More...

Adam taught me guitar for 4 years, from 13-17. I couldn't have asked for a better teacher during that those times, we worked through songs that were both challenging and interesting to me. Without Adam I wouldn't have gotten my GCSE or my A-level in music. He helped me to get 92% in the performance component for my A-level. I am massively grateful for all the work he put in and recommend him whether it's for learning getting your grades or getting your technique. Thanks man! More...

Amazing teacher - Adam can play anything & everything, and is able to break it down into easy & manageable sections so tough parts become easy. Would recommend him to anyone.

‘My son started guitar lessons at school and became very disillusioned by his teacher, since changing to Adam a year ago his playing is progressing well and he's really enjoying guitar. Adam is a brilliant teacher, incredibly patient and very enthusiastic. Adam gets the balance right between challenging him with new pieces but not excessively so and a fun mix of music, both classic and contemporary keeps my son interested and willing to practice. I would happily recommend Adam without any hesitation.’ More...

I have been taking lessons from Adam for the last 18 months in an effort to improve my playing. He has been a great help in identifying areas of my skills that need attention in order to improve. Adam is a very patient and friendly teacher and I look forward to my lessons. As a 71 year old student, you are never too old to learn new skills and Adam has fully embraced this. I would thoroughly recommend anyone of any age to take tuition from this gifted guitar player and teacher. More...

I've played around with guitars for years but never had formal lessons. Adam's taken that and taught me technique, and the improvement I've made in just a few months has been great. It's easy to practice when you can see the difference it's making. Adam keeps the lessons interesting, mixing in new techniques and pieces, and making sure we never get bogged down if something's too difficult. Awesome teacher. More...

Adam has been teaching my children, aged 8 and 10, to play acoustic and electric guitar for over a year after I found him by chance on a website. We have a weekly schedule and he never fails to be reliable. He has high expectations of the children to be attentive and committed to their learning and therefore Adam gets results. He develops a personal relationship with the children over time so they feel comfortable with him and his professionalism and knowledge commands respect. Adam prides himself on teaching the 'right way' and instilling a discipline in the children. He is friendly but firm. If my children continue to play the guitar into their adult years I can honestly say that it will be part due to the strong foundation Adam has provided for them. More...

I was almost an absolute beginner when I started lessons with Adam and he gave me a great foundation to work on. I'm now at a level I never expected to be. I started using apps like Yousician, but they're just not a substitute for a good teacher. They can teach you what to play but not how it's best to. Adam stopped me from getting into bad playing habits and has taught both the theory and the practical side to me, so I can learn more on my own and be a better player. His comments are constructive and he's very patient, so if you put the practice in you won't be disappointed. Highly recommended! More...

I have been taking lessons with Adam for just over a year now. Prior to beginning I had been self-taught for a number of years and had found myself stuck in a rut with no idea how to progress. During my first lesson, Adam helped identify areas in which I was less advanced than others, and we proceeded to work on those. In just a few weeks, I was seeing progress. A year on, I am a much better player than I had ever thought possible. This is testament to Adam's skill as a teacher, and his enthusiasm for, and dedication to, teaching. Adam is also very easy to get along with and lessons are always a comfortable environment for making mistakes - and then learning from them! Lessons have always been varied and tailored to my needs and interests - a mixture of the RGT acoustic guitar syllabus (I am currently working my way through the Grade 4 book) and contemporary and classic songs from Adam's extensive list of tabs - and I always look forward to them. I have been incredibly happy with my lessons and progress so far and couldn't recommend Adam enough as a teacher. More...

I have been taking my daughter Lucy to Adam now for nearly 3 years. In the beginning, as any parent would be, i was cautious and sat in the lessons with Lucy. I can honestly say, I felt very relaxed, confident and 100% trustworthy with Adam. His teaching skills are impeccable, he is relaxed, lets students pick what they would like to play and if it is not appropriate, his vast knowledge will choose a suitable piece to learn. If you are looking for a first class tutor, look no further as you will be looked after extremely well, young or adult. Testimony to this is that Lucy had the choice of going to BRIT school or ACM. Two of the best post 16 A Level colleges in the country. She chose ACM, as the course is more focused on guitar and she felt more comfortable. We will still be going to Adams, as Lucy will be doing her Rokschool grades, which I am confident that Adam will do a great job again. Many thanks Adamfrom a very proud father. More...

Adam was my guitar teacher while I was at college, and I would've happily continued lessons with him if I hadn't gone off to uni, partially his own fault as his lessons helped me get enough grades to top my UCAS points up! It's now been several years since I moved away, and the more I've improved the more I've come to realise how skilled he is. Not only is his technical ability staggering, he was also one of the most relaxed and chilled teachers I've ever had, yet one of the most effective. Anyone anywhere near the area considering guitar lessons should definitely consider lessons with him, you'll learn and progress faster than you realise as well as have a laugh! More...

I went in to my first lesson with Adam as a complete beginner and he quickly got me up to speed on the basics of guitar. He was easy to get along with and taught a wide range of styles. While learning with him I quickly progressed on guitar as he has a wide range of knowledge on theory as well as the many different techniques used to play guitar. I very much enjoyed my lessons with Adam and would highly recommend him. More...

When I started lessons with Adam I already had quite a lot of experience playing guitar, both lead and rhythm. I went to him to improve my lead playing and become a more technical player. Within a few weeks he had completely changed my playing. I had grown up on Slash's style of Bluesy hard rock. Adam helped me take that to the next level learning Extreme, Dream Theater, and loads of sweep picking / modal ideas. It transformed my playing from a standard rock player to having some real technical moves. I still use the tapping from the Extreme songs to this day. I love it!I also worked along side him for a while and saw that he was also very capable of teaching beginners of all ages. So I have no doubt that any level, musical background, age, or targets. Adam is the man for the job! More...

Adam is a great teacher that brought me from an absolute novice to being able to play along with my favorite songs as well as create my own. He was able to teach me theory in a fun, compelling way and helped me to understand the different ways in which knowing theory makes you a better guitar player. Adam is truly one of the best! I first had lessons with Adam when I was at college. He patiently worked with me towards my goals by setting clear objectives whilst identifying and guiding me in areas of improvement. The lessons were inspiring, tailored to my needs and were always an engaging and positive experience, helping me to rapidly progress in a short amount of time.Through the lessons I quickly gained all the tools and confidence I needed to develop my skills further as a guitar player and musician. I was opened up to a whole new world of guitar playing that I hadn’t even discovered and my own idea of guitar playing and being a musician changed, for the better, and all that I learned I still apply to my playing today whenever I pick up a guitar.Adam is one of the most technically proficient and accomplished musicians I have ever met. He has an impressive and expanding knowledge of music theory, techniques, playing styles, bands/musicians and an enthusiasm and appreciation for all music. He is a skilled teacher and has the ability to demonstrate all these qualities, which means there is plenty of fuel in lessons to advance the learning and playing of any guitarist regardless of taste or ability. Alongside all of this Adam is professional, relaxed and easy to get on with leading to instantly comfortable and productive lessons. I recommend Adam fully to anyone with an interest of learning to play the guitar and those looking to improve in any capacity as a player. More...

Over the course of 2011-2013 I was taught by Adam. I had owned a guitar for about a year prior to starting lessons, but took no interest in it, nor did I know any of the basics at all. I came to his lessons as a complete amateur and would have to be built from the ground up if I wanted to get anywhere. Adam was very patient with me and understood that I was a bit of a slow learner to the guitar, and kept lessons both enthusiastic and enjoyable. Eventually I found myself learning more things much more rapidly, and he allowed me to broaden my musical taste significantly. I went from somebody who listened to a very small pool of heavy metal bands, to learning and both loving new sounds in jazz, funk, indie, blues, as well as broadening my taste in heavy metal. Adam is an excellent teacher who is able to adapt lessons to your needs and is extremely easy to get along with. he allowed me to build a passion for something I never thought I would do. He makes you feel comfortable and confident in yourself so that you do not become insecure when you make mistakes, and he is a teacher that I would highly recommend anybody to have. More...

Q&A

Doing the thing I enjoy most - playing and teaching guitar!

Guitar is my passion and I've always enjoyed helping others learn the instrument.

I have 15+ years experience teaching in schools and privately and have worked in a multitude of teaching scenarios (groups, mixed ages/ability, band workshops, school concerts). I have had the fortune of studying privately with several world renowned players and educators; Rick Graham, Martin Goulding and Dave Colquhoun. I am confident in guiding the student towards their goals and my lessons will provide an in-depth understanding into a wide range of styles covering all aspects of technique, rhythm and theory.
