Q&As

I have real passion for being on other peoples life changing journey, the best part of being a counsellor is seeing change happen when the person cant see it themselves. It is a wonderful feeling to be invited into peoples lives to help them change it makes me feel very proud.

I have always had an ambitious mind but never had the confidence to follow my dreams. After seeking help in my own life I decided to take control of my life and follow my dreams of have my own company helping other people.

I offer my service based on what the client needs, I have learnt in life that not everyone need the same things. I invest all my energy in the clients journey with them this is my vocation not just a pay check.

This could fall under Depression, Bereavement, Anxiety, Generalised Anxiety Disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Specific Phobias, Social Phobia and Health Anxiety, relationship breakdown, education and exam pressures. I further offer Skype sessions as an alternative approach, and would be willing to do home visits if necessary and safe.

FIRST SESSION “WHAT TO EXPECT”

Contracting, explaining to you how confidentiality works, how long the sessions last and how much each session costs. The verbal/written contract being Client and counsellor is there for the safety of both parties and gives clear guidelines of what both should expect from each other and everything that is on offer.

The first Counselling session will be to find out what your expectations are and to give you space to talk through some of the issues you will bring, we will be able to identify whether Counselling is needed. The first session is important, relationship building starts from the first point of contact it is really important that you feel comfortable and safe working with me.

COUNSELLING APPROACH

I take an interested humanistic approach to therapy, that everyone deserves unconditional positive regard, empathy and compassion and to learn how to become compassionate towards themselves. The therapy space will be safe and I believe that everyone has the resources and resilience to move towards change.

Relationship building is the foundation of my counselling approach, I believe that exceptional work and progress is achieved when a relationship gains trust and confidence. The client needs to trust me and I need to trust the client, the whole process is always a two way street. Counselling relationship is built on Unconditional Positive Regard, Empathy and Congruence (Realness), once these are in place and felt; therapy happens. I strive to create a positive and safe place for the client to share their issues/problems and never think I know more about you than you do.

My Counselling approach is centred around the client, I am trained in Person- centred Counselling, Transactional analysis and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. Counselling does not need to be narrow or singular I believe that it can be tailored to the needs and wants of the client. My approach can either work with your here and now issues or go deeper into unresolved childhood situations which need working through.

I sincerely believe that people have the courageousness to move forward in a way that is meaningful to them in therapy. I value connection, and that all people should be treated with the utmost respect and as a human being with human rights in therapy space.
