I hired these guys last year, and they were fantastic (the DJ's name was Rob)
So I hired them again this year for our son's 13th bday party, same company, different DJ: Darren (Rob's partner). ..
I don't think as a mom I have EVER experienced a worst experience. To have your child crying uncontrollaby in the bathroom while his guests walk out is the last thing you expect to see on your child's birthday...
We'd hired a venue (community center) and had 45 kids attending.
Darren showed up, but because the community center was part of an estate, parking right in front of the venue was residential only. He refused to unload his equipment and set up until he could secure a parking space. There was plenty of public parking in adjacent streets, so all he had to do was unload, set up, while his girlfriend parked their car, but Darren refused. We offered to stay by his car, to pay any parking tickets he might get while he unloaded/set up, gave him our credit card numbers, begged and pleaded, ANYTHING for him to get the party started, but he just took off. This went on for about an hour. All the kids had arrived. My son was hysterical, feeling humiliated at having so many people there and no DJ (for this to happen to a self-conscious insecure 13 year old ... well, you can imagine). The guy took off supposedly to go find a parking spot which made no sense: how was he going to unload his equipment from blocks away?! Anyway, he never came back and we were left with a dark venue (we'd counted on the lasers & lights), no music, and our son humiliated and sobbing in the bathroom as his guests left. I would NEVER EVER have even imagined someone would be capable of being so heartless. Seriously, the first year Rob was great, but for this horrible to happen (and I've spared you the details, it was a complete nightmare, everyone, myself included was in nerves and in tears!) ... I never would have thought it even remotely possible considering all the raving reviews they have. If you want to take your chances, hire them, but make sure you don't get Darren. As for myself, considering they did not even offer some sort of compensation (even symbolic), I would NEVER EVER EVER take the chance of having something like this happen to me or my child.
