A Little Pizza Heaven is a wonderful little family owned and operated Italian restaurant in Scranton near Marywood University.  My wife and I started eating here when she started a job at Marywood a number of years ago, and we have loved it since day one!My favorites are the Garlicky Zeppole and Chicken Napoli with Angel Hair (Personal tip:  I always save some Zeppole to dip in the blush cream sauce on the Chicken Napoli).  The pizzas and strombolis are great, especially the Pizzettes (dessert pizzas).  Service has been great and the atmosphere is very relaxed. The dining area is pretty intimate, so make sure to call ahead if you are bringing a large group.  Parking can also get tight, and the traffic can get busy at certain times of the day, so just be mindful when you head over. I love this place a little restaurant with big flavor Italian food.  The owner is almost always behind the counter making fresh pizza pies and his wait staff is the friendliness and always on the ball and that's not easy to do because they get busy. They don't serve alcohol but you are always welcome to bring your own and if you forget wine glass are a bottle opener they are more than happy to accommodate you. Now I have been there many many times and the reason I keep going back is that the food is so so good I have never had a bad meal here and they really make you feel at home. But don't have to believe me go over and see for yourself but I suggest giving them a call first if there is a table open they will hold it for you so Eat and Enjoy And also be generous to the wait staff they work there butts off to make sure you enjoy your stay More...

I tried A Little Pizza Heaven for the first time this week ordering through Skip the Dishes. I couldn't decide between the medium meat lovers and the medium chicken pomodoro so of course I ordered both...for lunch. I have to say this was incredibly delicious pizza with the variety of toppings and super amazing crust. I have tried many a pizza and this is one of my new found favorites. My order arrived in a timely manner and the pizza was hot. Kudos to both the restaurant and Skip. I love trying new restaurants and will continue to remain loyal to those who continue to provide good food and of course good service.I raved about A Little Pizza Heaven to my colleagues at work and would absolutely recommend trying this pizza. Ordered via Skip The Dishes last week as we love ALPH pizza - honestly the most delicious crust and best toppings in the city! We were disappointed when the driver had clearly mishandled the box and the pizza arrived with literally half the toppings having fallen off half the pizza and one side of it being basically dough, but we were ravenous so we just took a picture and ate it anyway. The management actually were incredibly kind and went completely out of their way for us - we weren't expecting anything, because it wasn't really their fault and we'd eaten it, but they sent us a replacement pizza "whenever we were ready" and clearly care a lot. Was planning on going back anyway, but wanted to note how a) great the pizza there is, and b) how much they cared and did despite the issue not being their fault really at all! Thank you More...

Fantastic! We've ordered pizza for take out here before,  which we like, but our first time dining in was great! VERY generous,  delicious appetizers to start.  Great assortment in the antipasto, and the sampler was priced more than reasonably for the amount of food in it!  Dinner salad was also generous, nice assortment of vegetables. Tuscan onion soup was unique & full of flavor.  Our entrees did not disappoint, & we had plenty to take home!  The smores calzone was recommended to me prior to visiting,  so we ordered one to go, bc we didn't have any more room! I cannot believe how large of a portion it was, not to mention MADE FRESH for the price! Friendly service, great prices, large portions, clean.  Will definitely be going back; highly recommend! We have been traveling across the country and stopped here based on the great reviews.  Our experience started with these little garlic bread bites. It really set the stage for how great the rest of our meal was going to be.  My daughter had the lasagna and a salad.  I recommend the honey basalmic dressing.  My daughter raves about her lasagna and my husband and I shared a pizza.  Everything was so delicious. This place is amazing! The most real Italian food I have ever had. The prices are amazing and the staff is super friendly. My mom and I went for lunch. It smelled so amazing and there were so many options. We just couldn't decide want to get. So we ordered an antipasto platter, pizzette margherita, and a split order of baked gnocchi. It was all out of this world. The meats with the antipasto were so flavorful. The pizza was as real and fresh as it gets. And it was definitely the best sauce ever. The also have this nice option for the entrees were for $3 less you can get a small portion or for $3 more you can make it for 2 people and it comes with an extra salad. Stopped here while passing thru Scranton.  Little tricky to get to. Parking is annoying. Small little joint with 70's or 80's throw back "youre in Italy" motif .It's mid afternoon so the oven isn't under pressure.  Bottom of the pie is crispy crust. Top of crust is a little doughy.  Cheese is fair, sauce is faint, mushrooms are fresh & sausage is the star. Service was friendly And prompt. $16 for an 18 inch pie with two toppings is respectable. Wish I could give it a 4.5! As we walked in the waitress promptly seated us. She gave us our menus rather quick. Drinks came quick and we ordered our food. Service was great. Although the art where I sat was rather... interesting. We got the garlic zeppole as our appetizer. It came out warm with a nice marinara sauce. It says "best selling" on the menu and I agree it tasted great. When the pizza came out (half plain, half buffalo chicken wing) very hot. Biting into it was a little too cheesy but still very good. When our check came it was with three frozen Hersey kisses. Overall it was a perfect temperature with good lighting and friendly staff. Food was great and came with a seasonal menu for fall. This place is tucked away in Scranton near Marywood University.  Went there for a late dinner and they promptly seated us.  Wait staff was extremely friendly.  Pizza is excellent, they have some gourmet pizza like arugala and fig with a balsamic glaze that is a culinary triumph.  I had a classic pasta dish, Penne Vodka, which was excellent and generous.  Top it off with a cannoli for dessert.  It was a "pina colada" flavored cannoli, which I considered a nearly sacrilegious alteration of this Italian classic but my daughter polished off before I could try it, saying it was delicious.  If you are in town and don't want to go up to Dickson CIty wind your way through the old Greenridge section of Scranton to get there. Whether you live around here or taking a road trip like we were, you definitely need to try this place out!We were a couple hours away when we found this restaurant on Yelp and our party of 10 needed to plan dinner. When we called, Miguel explained that it would probably be busy during the time we were driving in, but he'd give us a call back around that time (7:30pm) to let us know. Let me just say this: NO restaurant in LA has ever offered this type of customer service!!! Ever.  Wow! I was skeptical of him calling back (sorry, it's the LA thinking in me) but he did call back during his busy peak time at dinner! He told us it's pretty busy and he apologized that he wouldn't be able to seat us. After hanging up, we looked at the menu and decided that we should just pick up the food and eat it in our hotel room. Miguel was very helpful in deciding what to order for our group of 10. Let me just tell you: EVERYTHING we ordered was delicious. Everything. Their clam sauce was bomb, their ravioli with marinara sauce was so fresh, their "gotta have it" stramboli was mouth watering, and their spaghetti and meatballs was slightly sweet and delicious. Even their side garden salad was refreshing and good! Thank you guys for making our stop to Scranton memorable! If we're ever back in town, we'll eat here again! Cheers! More...

My wife and I recently moved here from Philly, and this is among the very best pizza we have ever had, if not at the top.  The toppings alone are set apart in quality (best pepperoni, best meatball, best peppers), and then the ratio of cheese, sauce, and bread on the round 18" crust is absolute perfection for our tastes coming from NJ/NY style pizza.  For those who like a breadier crust, try the Sicilian! And one more thing, don't be afraid to explore the entire menu.  This is not a pizza shop with a few side offerings.  This is a serious Italian restaurant with an extensive menu and oversized portions for the money.  I enjoyed the red sauce better than Dante and Lugi's in South Philly.  My personal favorite dish is eggplant parmesan, and I can say without question A Little Pizza Heaven's is the best I've ever had, in no small part due to their outstanding homemade sauce. Love this place. I can't speak for the pizza but pasta-wise, probably one of the best in the Scranton area (which says a lot given Scranton basically only has Italian food). Parking can sometimes be difficult during primetime dinner service, but its worth it. Quaint, small restaurant located in a neighborhood. Someone did an amazing job painting murals on the walls inside creating an apropos interior. And they even had crisp, clean REAL white napkins! All the staff were friendly, helpful and johnny on the spot with service. It was a quiet lunch hour when we were there with only a handful of tables taken. We could easily hear the conversations of our fellow diners which, I might add, was pretty entertaining. I suppose it could be quite noisy if it were full. I can see that there could be a wait on busy nights based on the small number of tables. There is no alcohol served, but I see from a previous commenter that it is BYOB. We ordered a pizza and expected to wait a while but the pizza arrived within 15-20 minutes hot and fresh. And delicious! The crust was perfect with a light red sauce and a healthy amount of toppings. Being a cheese fanatic, a little extra cheese would have been appreciated. Speaking of cheese, the grated cheese on the table is the best tasting we've ever had – it actually was real cheese. Fantastic! If we lived in the area, we would definitely return to sample some of the Italian meals. More...

I would give A Little Pizza Heaven ten stars if I could! The food is exceptional, the staff is super and Darryl, the owner, couldn't be more friendly, engaging and sincere.  He treats his customers like they are friends who came to enjoy dinner with him. Being a frequent customer, I would like to respond to Vanessa O's comments. I believe that she misconstrued the entire situation. Marywood University, which is located about one mile from the restaurant, had their graduation last Saturday. Pizza heaven is not a reservation-only restaurant, but Darryl will reserve tables for people who call requesting a table, and still try to accommodate his many walk-in customers. Because so many parents were in town for their children's graduation,  the restaurant had an unusually high number of call- in reservations. I know this for a fact because, even though I am a frequent customer, I could not get a table Saturday evening because of the expected reservations ( who apparently were running late ). As far as discrimination, nothing could be further from the truth. The staff is racially, ethnically and gender diverse. I have seen many people, which represent a microcosm of our society, in the restaurant and they were always treated like "friends who came to dinner."Also, I have seen Darryl go out of his way to speak to men and women in uniform, be it military, police or emergency responders in order to make them feel at home. He would always tell them how he appreciated their service and many times would offer them a discount. A Little Pizza Heaven is probably one of the finest culinary experiences in the Scranton area. The friendliness and service of Darryl and his staff only enhance that experience. More...

We found them through Yelp. Wonderful meal at a bargain price. Everyone that we came into contact with could not been nicer. The owner stopped by at the end of our meal to make sure everything was the way we liked it and asked where we were from. Do yourself a favor, make a reservation and enjoy yourself. Portions are large and quality is top notch. Everything was fresh and presented with care. I'm from and Italian family and the food is authentic. Flavors are balanced and with the right amount of spices. Soups were terrific as were the salads. We were so full we ordered Desert to go. The bill was under $45. Without a doubt the best Italian meal we have had in any restaurant anywhere. The fact that it was also the most reasonable makes it all the more enjoyable. Treat yourself and have a wonderful time. Not just pizza..never even tried the pizza. The pasta meals were fabulous. Well seasoned and perfectly sauced. El Dante pasta. Breads and parm supplied. Clean dining room AND bathroom. They even scrub that part of the floor where the mop doesn't get. Highly recommended by this extremely picky person. Great Restaurant, Little Pizza Heaven! More...

We love this place. Great (Italian) food, hearty servings, good prices, BYOB, very friendly owner (Darryl)  and staff take their food and service seriously. It may be a slight stretch to call it a 5 star because the (busy neighborhood easy to miss) location, parking and access can be tricky...you may end up looking for an on-street spot, and while it's cute and comfy it IS a very casual pizza place, so don't expect much beyond a friendly, busy ambiance, for some maybe too busy at peak times...but we think the good stuff, as long as you are ready for some business and casual fun, easily makes up for the slightly rough edges and occasional bobble. Note, that as you might expect, they do a brisk takeout business (there are a couple colleges nearby too)  and at busy times part of the entertainment is watching orders come and go ...not that there is anything wrong with that...but demand can occasionally challenge even this skilled and hard working kitchen to keep up. If this possibility concerns you, try coming (first visit?) at an off time/day, or just relax...this is where BYO and a quickly placed appetizer order comes in handy.  Reservations are recommended for large parties and any time on weekends. We enjoy any of the pasta dishes. Among favorites are Garlic Zeppole, Zesty Penne Capri, Seafood Mac and Cheese, any Gnocchi... really most anything we've tried. We also like the honey/balsamic house dressing, a pizzette as an appetizer or the different (...very tomatoey) pasta fazul,  and anything Parmesan especially eggplant. Really... pick something out you like from the extensive menuS. Odds are good you'll be pleased. The large pizza, calzone, stromboli menu is one which we haven't tried (yet)  but based on appearances when we dine and the busy takeout traffic, we think it's a good bet. Check this out along with their 'seasonal' menu ...one is usually available...depending on the time of year and holiday. All menus are usually online. Many of the kitchen's seasonal specials are creative and fun.  (Update/add 3/2018: We have now become a bit addicted(?) to various 'pizzettes' ...mini pizzas...as appetizer/first courses. Thin crust, creative ingredients and immediate hot delivery make for a treat and a nice match for the simple house salad if you can time them near simultaneously. Order pizzette quickly to pace it with dinner... or ask them to delay entrees a few minutes, if there are two of you. If you do this, expect some good 'take home' of something too. )Truthfully, we seldom get dessert since the dinner dishes are large and, with an appetizer and salad, we plan on 'take home'. Nevertheless, those desserts we've eaten or seen are appealing too. As you can tell, this is not your ordinary pizza place... More...

I had dinner here on Saturday while visiting my daughter at a nearby college. My daughter, two of her friends and myself had a GREAT meal. There was a VERY small problem with one of the entrees (mix up with another table) which to us was really no big deal. Servers handled the situation well. Owner checked on us as well as other nearby tables to make sure we were enjoying our dinner. Prices reasonable, food was EXCELLENT. This will be my go to place when I am in town! Found this place when looking for for dinner passing through Scranton.  The salad was organic lettuce, fresh and green. Happy! I ordered plain pizza and got the hubs Veal Picatta on the recommendation of the server.  HIS was a nicely flavored dish and a decent portion.  I also got a side of 2 meatballs that were really homemade and tasty.  The pizza was a B+ for taste and an A for appearance, freshness, and quality.  We saw the boneless mild wings at a table near us.  Highly recommend!  I liked the Sicilian onion soup, the husband did not.  We also tried the pasta white bean [fa-jool].  Very saucy and super tomato-y in an overpowering way.  Very friendly people who work there and care about the place.  Hard to find if not familiar with the area, but affordable and worth it.  Do not sit in front of the door if it's cold. On a family vacation. I'm of Italian descent. I have garlic in my DNA. This IS the place. I grew up on New Haven pizza (the BEST in the country...trust me.) And this place is just as good, if not better. No matter what you order, you will think it's the best Italian food you ever had. Small place, few tables and chairs and I'd imagine the joint is hopping on the weekends. STILL worth the wait. Service was terrific. Food was out of this world. Grazie, ALPH, mille grazie. More...

There are simply not enough superlatives to describe Little Pizza Heaven. Tasty, fresh, affordable... are just a few. The portions are large; the impact on your wallet is small. Plus, it's BYOB. My girlfriend and I split an entree. For just a bit extra, we got extra salads and pasta and had enough for lunch the next day. Even more remarkable was dessert. For only $6, we got a "pizza" with nutella, bananas and a carmel sauce. Again, the portions and price was outstanding. We took half home. In short, Little Pizza Heaven is a must try. More...

Stellar service provided by Joanne today here at Heaven!!! Driving through on route to Reston, Virginia via Montreal, Canada for the holidays with husbands mom, decided to look up where to stop for a great pizza/Italian lunch. I jumped onto trust worthy Yelp and brought up about a dozen or more places and chose this gem based on other reviews and pics!! Immediately warmly greeted by the owner Darryl we took in the intoxicatingly warm aromas and looked over the extensive menu! We decided to go with eggplant, mushroom calzone (suggestion from Darryl) caesar salad and hubby and his mom had Try It You Might Like It meat Stromboli with house salads. My mouth opened in awe!! As I saw the size of the calzone!! The ricotta cheese was intensely pleasing to the bite with the fine herbs and creamy texture and the eggplant was nicely breaded!! One of the best calzones I've had!! Feedback was equally amazing with the Stromboli!! *Portions are BIG!!! Share if you can!! More...

OK. A Little Pizza Heaven, thank you for providing me with the best pizza in the area. I have been struggling with...and this New Yorker won't hold back here...AWFUL pizza since February. Flavorless crust that is all sorts of cardboard-ery hell. You, you fine pizza place, have provided me with some good crust (still could be thinner but I'm not complaining), yummy sauce that isn't over powering and an overall delish slice. We got the wings as well. I was pleasantly surprised at how tasty the wings were considering they were pretty breaded. Like some of the other reviewers we were heading through Scranton on our way to a different destination (we were heading to Wheeling, WV) and decided to check out A Little Pizza Heaven because of the reviews, and we are sure glad that we did! The combination of food and amazing service made for a memorable meal! We had their famous gnocchi and chicken parm and they both were outstanding. Large portions that were cooked perfectly. The salad was fresh and crisp. The garlic bread was also a highlight. And then there is the warm and welcoming service. You know that feeling you get with some pizza places that you are putting out the owners by being there, well at this place it is the exact opposite--warm, engaging and genuinely happy to greet and talk with their customers. Great food. I always need the pizza firenze when I come here. It all reminds me of the food my family used to make. However, I judge restaurants most on how they handle mistakes. I love this pizza. Like, seriously. Garlic salt on the crust? Thin and chewy dough? Yummy, fresh toppings? Yes, Please! The dough itself is thin, chewy, and the crust is garlicy/salty and crispy. The tomato sauce isn't overwhelming, if you like toppings then this is the pizza for you, the toppings taste fresh (loooove green peppers that still have a crunch). The bacon is literally in strips (not indiscernable crumbs) and they don't skimp on the cheese. It's greasy but in the "this cheese is real way" not the "why is my pizza dripping fake cheese goo" way. It's also cheap (2 topping XL=20ish bucks).4 stars cause they don't deliver to my area!! YUUUUMMMM... I used to work next door and it was so tempting to go in every day. The first thing you need to know is how great the staff is. They all have very distinct personalities and love to chat, but not in an annoying way. I have fond memories of running in there on slow blizzard-y days and being greeted with a smile. The owner has this awesome New York-ish swagger about him that makes the experience that much better. A whole pizza may be pricey, but the garlic crust is worth it. Plus you can grab 2 slices and a drink for $6!They are the only place in the village that's open til the wee hours, so I'm hoping other businesses take a note.Pro Tip: If you work in the village, you'll get a discount. The amount kind of varies depending on who is serving you, but it usually hovers around 10%Pro Tip 2: Go near the end of the night (when it isn't crazy packed) for mad deals on the last couple of slices. I'm definitely a fan of A Little Pizza Heaven, but my quest for the perfect pizza place in Scranton is not yet complete. We've had 4 different pies from this place. Three were perfect and the fourth was just fine. The chef/owner is an awesome guy who is a student of pizza. I said I used to live in CT and he started rattling off all the best pizza places in the state. They take custom orders (my wife likes a particular chicken, broccoli, thin crust, white pizza they made perfectly) and their plain cheese (the single most important test) is perfect. The only let down was the owner's favorite. He makes a margarita pizza that was, in my opinion, uninspired. It was just fine. Not good or bad. Just fine. All in all, solid. Definitely a good place. Heaven in Greenridge. A Little Pizza Heaven has to be my favorite Italian place in the greater Scranton area. It is cozy with maybe 30 seats (i didnt count). Not only do you get a LOT of food for your money but the dishes are fantastic and authentic. Its the type of place you can bring your family, have a business lunch or take an evening date. This restaurant was cute and had a very relaxing atmosphere.. The menu is very extensive, they definitely should have a sampler plate of all their homemade food, because picking one was a job in itself. We went with a group of friends, and everyone ordered different dishes and shared. One was better than the other. The vodka sauce was to die for and the gnocchi was the best I ever tasted. The veal picatta was fantastic. Even though we were stuffed and had plenty for the next day we tried a few of their cheese cake calzones, one was blueberry and the other pumpkin...Just when you thought it couldn't get any better it did. They named this place right "heaven".Do yourself a favor...visit this restaurant it is tops in food and service. Our waitress was absolutely adorable and very eager to please.
