Our 2 labradoodles got big quickly! As lovable as they are, they are STRONG! We went to another trainer and they didn't learn much more than we had taught them on our own. That place only wanted to push VERY expensive programs on us without details of what we would gain in return.We went to A Closer Bond for an evaluation after many recommendations. To our surprise, the personalized evaluations were free! They wanted to observe each dog's personality & capabilities. They also asked us what our goals were. That was important because I have a disability. Also surprising was that they did not recommend their most expensive program for our dogs. They actually recommended different programs for each of our dogs based upon their strengths. They tell you exactly what you get for your money and back it up with a guarantee. This place was amazing they helped my dog so much. I gave them a challenge of having a special needs dog with a brain issue who was starting to become way to much to handle. We have been taking our dog to A Closer Bond for nearly 3 years now, and we cannot say enough great things about them. When I read the negative reviews, I'm concerned as that is definitely not the experiences we've had. The staff is extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and communicative. Our dog has been to the boarding and to overnight trainings, and he's made great strides. Our dog is ALWAYS happy to see the staff, and the staff always seems happy to see him. Our dog has never come out of boarding sick, and if anything it seems like he has been getting his fair share of play time in. Highly recommended, especially if you have a larger breed dog! More...

The team at A Closer Bond trained our 2 labradoodles with their board & train program. They also trained us! We had tried another place prior to A Closer Bond. We really liked the fact that the owners are actually trainers and work side by side with the other trainers. We loved that we received individualized evaluations, for free. They asked us what OUR goals were, and told us their professional opinion on each of our dog's needs. This is not a "one size fits all" sort of place. The custom-tailored training plans were exactly what we needed. We also received a package of follow up classes, which we are faithfully attending. The staff is amazing. Our pups love going there and everyone seems to know our dogs by name when we arrive. We were delighted to see photos of our boys playing outside, splashing in the pool, & playing with a bubble machine between training sessions instead of sitting in a crate! Sent our dog there for 3-week course. He was impossible to control and on the verge of being sent back to the adoption agency. We did this as a last resort and I'm sorry we didn't do it sooner. Yes, they were tough on him, but not abusive. He did lose some weight, but he was overweight, and a hungry dog is going to be more interested in following directions. The results made it all worthwhile. Same dog as before. Same cheerful, playful personality, but now he obeys! He was nearly impossible to walk on any kind of leash. Now, we walk him without a leash and he will sit and stay if another dog is walking across the street, instead of bolting after him, or choking himself with his leash. He still likes to bark at things, but he obeys the "quiet" command. He also stopped having accidents in the house. This took a few weeks after getting him back, but after having him home for two months, we no longer cage him at night, or when we're gone during the day. We have a dog walker take him out on weekdays, and she can't get over the difference. This was money well-spent! They saved our dog! More...

I was very impressed with the staff I met the first day especially KATY who introduced us to the program.
The facility is clean and organized and my dogs never seemed to feel afraid.
It was not a difficult decision to leave my two beautiful pups there for the three week program knowing they will be well taken care of.

Our 6 month old Bernese Mountain Dog recently completed a 3 week off-leash training program. Our family is highly recommending A Closer Bond to EVERYONE.

We want to thank all the staff at A Closer Bond for all you have done with our boy. Special thank you to Lauren and all the time you spent with us during his initial training evaluation and on pick-up. We had a lot of questions and was very nervous about a residency program.

Now that he is home... we are blown away. Seriously! He is heeling beautifully.. everywhere. We can now take a walk to the park without being pulled down the street or any tension on the lead. His "place" has made a world of difference as well. You can see what a great job they did with distraction proofing. We tested a "place" on his mat outside while the boys played ball. Amazing.. this is not easy for him to do at all, (he loves playing ball) but he didn't come out of "place". If he's placed while getting the kids ready for school - he doesn't move until released. He can be with us everywhere now! He is looking to us for direction and what we want him to do.

After the completion of his course he received a certificate with his picture. We received training collars to work on our handling skills and his "place" mat. All the pictures that were taken throughout his stay - an extra bonus! You guys are AWESOME. A++++

We highly highly recommend A Closer Bond. The training he received changed everything! We can communicate with our "little" guy now and he's the dream dog we envisioned when we brought our fluffy little pup home.

Throughout the years we have taken our dogs to several day care centers in the Chicago area. I have to say that A Closer Bond is a very different experience than we have ever had. We sent our puppy to A Closer Bond for training. I couldn't speak more highly of a facility. The staff is amazing, they really care for the animals. The trainers are great with the dog owners, ensuring the owners understand the training and how to use what was learned at the facility at home.
Our dog walks very well on the leash, and listens to commands.

Dog Luna has been going there since she was two months old. She is been through their Boot Camp and through their training and she is now a therapy dog. Every time we go on a short vacation we border there and she just loves going there and seeing all her friends that she grew up with there's a puppy and all the new dogs that are there to play with.

While the dog is boarding there they can also take training lessons or anything else you would like them to learn why you're boarding them.

I would recommend closer bond for training and boarding your dog and knowing that you'll never have to worry about her why she's there. More...

ACB probably saved my dogs life.

I have a 14 month old working line German Shepherd who has been training with ACB for the last 4 - 5 months as he started to develop some pretty serious reactivity, dominance, reactivity, aggression and over protection towards people and other dogs so much that he would lunge towards other dogs if they were on the other side of the street. He had almost bit several people and was starting to get into dog fights. This was around 10 months old when it started getting bad.

He went through a 1 month residency training, 3 - 4 private lessons, several distraction classes, a couple of pack walks, day care a dozen times and 1 week of boarding when I had to go out of town. Now he is a fantastic dog, he is very happy, calm indoors, strangers can pet him, kids can hug him, I have much more control and confidence with him, its easier to teach him, hes way more focused and in-tune with me and our bond is fantastic.

He absolutely loves going to the facility, is friendly with all the staff and will whine if we even drive by it.

I cannot overstate how good ACB has been for both Thor and I. Hands down the best use of time and money you could hope to find if your goal is to develop a well-mannered and balanced dog.

The staff at A Closer Bond are just wonderful – they really make your dog the top priority and cater to your needs as a pet owner. Our puppy has been going for two months now, and she jumps with joy as soon as we start to pack her up for daycare. They are extremely accommodating and we always feel at ease when our little one goes to stay with them for the day. A Closer Bond is also who we will be relying on for our pet training in the next month. We are the type that do a lot of research prior to making decisions like these, and we could not be happier with our choice. Every part of this company is high quality. They treat you like family, the people who work there are amazing and great with animals. . Words can’t even begin to describe how grateful we are. We adopted a rescued AmStaff (pit bull) who was overbred and abused for her first three years, but is the sweetest dog ever. We did the 2-week on-leash training with her to start, and it was great to have a language to speak to her in. We have done the off-leash and are about to complete therapy training. On top of that, because our Mojave needs a little support learning that she can play with dogs and doesn’t have to worry about being violently mated with them without so much as dinner and a movie, they have been wonderful working on playgroups and other socialization efforts. They’re always looking out for her well-being, giving us pointers and feedback about her care and interaction with her.
