60 Smarter is a great gym! I’d never done weightlifting before joining and was made to feel comfortable straight away. James makes an effort to welcome everyone coming in and there are always a range of people using the spaces. I subscribe to the Plus Membership which means I get a bespoke fitness plan, accessible in an app, to aid my progression. As a weight lifting newbie, this has enabled me to learn a range of different exercises and progress much more quickly than I could have done alone. I would absolutely recommend this Gym. The staff are very knowledgeable and always happy to answer questions or help members out. The people are such a friendly crowd and there's always something going on outside of gyming. A great community to be a part of. I've made some lovely friends here and always look forward to going. The equipment is fab compared to other gyms and I'm never waiting to get on anything. Without a doubt the best gym in North tyneside. I've trained in most of the gyms around the area over the past 20 odd years, I found Smarter fitness about a year ago and wish I did earlier. It is the best gym around. It has a great range of weights, machines and quality equipment including some great speciality barbells. The staff are Knowledgeable, friendly and You Can tell they are passionate about helping people achieve their goals. It has a great bunch of members of all levels, everyone is encouraging to others bringing a great atmosphere to the place. I think for me the fear of the gym and that general gym environment was the biggest hurdle I had to overcome. James and Dan put you at ease immediately and are friendly and approachable. They make you feel comfortable and take their time to explain what you are doing and why you are doing it. They help you create a plan to achieve your goals and provide plenty of encouragement along the way. They clearly know their stuff and the training can of course be challenging, but for me it’s their friendly and encouraging approach that stands out the most. I’d recommend Dan, James & 60 Smarter to anyone. Dan & James are both very knowledgeable when it comes to fitness and nutrition and they will always try and answer any questions you have. When I first joined 60 Smarter I was completely new to any form of weight training and Dan & James asked me what my goals were and came up with a plan which not only helped me work towards my goals but also fitted in with normal day to day life. Over the past year and a half I have definitely became more confident in the gym thanks to their coaching. Absolute top men who take great pride and ownership in their work. Nothing is ever too serious, I’ve been coached off both for a number of hours now but from the very start I got on well with them, joking and laughing through my workouts.
If you go with their personal training, they design you a specific workout program on an app. It makes things so easy to keep track which ultimately allows you to see your progress.
They are both human too, they don’t expect you to train 7 days a week and eat chicken, rice and broccoli. They cater for you. Give you nutrition tips, tastes alternatives and good cheat meal ideas!
My biggest thing about going to the gym was feeling interacted but at 60 smarter there are no egos and the place is very welcoming. The gym and it’s members make the place feel very welcoming, there are chats and Facebook pages to join. This doesn’t mean to say you have to be an out there person to go. I’m pretty introverted, say very little in the group chat and just go there and mind my own business which the gym is very good for that too.
The gym itself has top of the range equipment, it also has a second room with punch bags, kick bags, etc. Such a good cardio facility.
The price this place charges per month to go is the cost of what? 6/7 coffees?

Best gym I’ve been to in Newcastle with a great atmosphere!
60 smarter is full of amazing coaches, who are full of knowledge and experience.
I’ve gained better understanding of techniques and form. They’re so supportive, friendly and are always happy to help if you’re unsure of anything. I’ve even tried the boxing taster sessions and will definitely be returning.
Great for beginners and people who already have some experience. Highly recommend these guys!

I use the nutrition plan Dan made me nearly every day and the advice James gave me through training has helped formed better technique and positive habits! He also helped me with a knee issue that has plagued me for a while but has gone now!
