First of all, I must say that Greg is a honest, decent human being. Perhaps it's strange to start off a review stating this, but, I am so tired of people in service positions that are miserable, and  could care less about their jobs or what the customer needs. I needed a cracked screen replaced. I have lived with computers for a long time, and I've had very little problem that couldn't be solved by sitting on the phone for several hours with outsourced technicians who didn't care.  Highly annoying.But I had a blue screen of death event which was unprecedented, and I'd spent so much time almost getting it to recover only to be defeated by the machine, that I didn't have the patience for a call with a stranger who, despite telling me how much they appreciated my frustration, didn't. My experience with 5 Star was beyond exceptional.  While there was a little cloak and dagger figuring out where to go (they run out of their home and don't offer the address until later in the communication).  They not only repaired my computer, but he talked me through the problem, his solution (updated bios, cleaned for all malware, lost nothing), also gave me instructions for having a recover files disk (all windows installations unique to my personal computer), and did it for a price that (even without the Yelp discount which I did use) would have been much MORE than reasonable.  The communication back and forth was great, the personal attention was appreciated, and the turnaround time (less than a week) was much appreciated.  As a one time user of an outside computer repair resource, I highly recommend 5 Star.  If I need help again, this is certainly where I'll be. On the same day I asked for a quote, I was able to take my computer to Greg. He took a look, told me I needed to get a new battery, explained some things, and helped me find a very cheap new one on e-bay. He sent me the link for the correct model, with all specifications, and sent me home without charging anything. The problem is solved. And by the way, when I went there I had an annoying adaptor from brazilian to american outlet, and instead he gave me a cable with american plug that he had extra. One of my nightmares: My flash drive crashed and all files were corrupted.  I had a lot of important school documents.  I found Greg on Yelp and he even accommodated a late evening appointment.  In short, Greg was able to locate all my files and transferred to a more secure flash drive. Great experience with them!! My computer didn't connect to the hdmi cable, the nice sir try for an hour to fix it. Installed for me updates but couldn't fix it. The problem was the motherboard and he said it's to expensive for me to fix it and it's better to buy a new one. He didn't even want to take money after hour of working!! I had a great experience with Greg and highly recommend this company for timely and affordable service. I had a DC jack go bad on my Asus. I took a look at some places in the NoHo area; most had mixed reviews but 5-Star's were overwhelmingly positive. I gave Greg a call and brought it in. He was a super nice guy; and more importantly honest and fair. He had my computer fixed before the expected date and even consulted me on a few other operating system issues I've been having. Small shop with a ton of heart. Again, I certainly recommend giving Greg a call for any PC issues.OH!!! I have a Del Precision T5500 workstation.  This is really a server but I use it as my desktop workstation.  I've had this for about 2 years and it came with 2 SCSI 149 gig hard drives that was staring to fill up really fast.  I tried to install 2 new 1 TB hard drives; however, I could not get the drives to be recognized since the system was using the RAID controller for the two SCSI drives - even though the drives were not RAID configured (mirrors of one another).    After trying for several hours to get them to be recognized I finally decided to look on Yelp and that's when I found Greg and 5 Start Computer Service!  After shooting some emails back and forth and reviewing his reviews (which were great) I decided to use him to get my system upgraded. I dropped off the computer and hard drives the next day around 7 PM.  He booted up the hard drive and we discussed what would be best for my needs.  We decided that it would be best to do a disc clone of both 1 TB hard drives against the existing C drive (the SCSI drive) and then replace the SCSI drives with one of the 1 TB drives and then use the 2nd 1 TB drive as a clone back up in the event of a hard drive failure of the first one.  I'll need to periodically re-clone that spare drive (once a month or so...) to ensure I have a true clone drive to use as a back up if I ever need to, but that is worth it since i have had hard drives fail and lost everything before and I don't want that to ever happen again.  I'll also use Carbonite to backup to the cloud but a cloned drive is a good idea for anyone to use as an onsite backup solution.  If I ever want to purchase another hard drive for my system now I can since Greg set it up so i can just plug it in and boot it up and it will recognize it now.  Greg had my system up and running the next day and now I have a 1 TB of hard drive space vs. the 149 gigs for my C drive I had before and I have a cloned backup drive in my home safe to use if I ever need it.  Greg is an outstanding computer technician and if we ever need to have our pc's worked on again he is our first choice.  We highly recommend him for your computer repair/upgrade needs.  He is a man you can trust to give you the straight scoop and not try to up-sell you or charge you more than what is fair and reasonable (actually he could charge more and it would still be a good deal!). I have to say Greg has been great. Don't let the fact that he runs his business from his house deter you from his business. Your computer tends to be something extremely important for school,business,etc. The most important thing you should look for is the quality of workmanship and that's exactly what Greg gives you. Every time I spoke with him he was extremely informative on exactly what was going on with my laptop. Greg really went above and beyond -- I was in a fix, as my DC jack was dying a slow and miserable death, plus my battery was dead. The big problem? I work from home, so no computer = missed deadlines galore. Greg ordered the part, got my computer fixed even earlier than he said he'd be able to turn it around, and even better? His quote for the repair was substantially lower than the other place I called. Plus, Greg is very professional and nice, which is a good thing when you're about to completely freak out. Well Greg definitely lived up to his company's name. It was a very quick and easy issue to deal with luckily but I couldn't have asked for a quicker fix. I left my computer with Greg and he was done within an hour if not less. No lines, set a time to come in and he was there and ready. Left Greg my computer Thursday because the computer would not send a signal to  my monitor so I could see anything. First he tried to help me diagnose it over the phone, but I wasn't much help since im not too computer savvy. So i scheduled to drop it off that night. He called me 2 days later and it was ready to-go, he diagnosed it for free and just charged me $20 to fix it!! Excellent service!!! Greg was quick in upgrading my laptop in 48 hours. Discussed with me any part replacement before any work was done. I also needed a laptop battery replaced. Well. How do I start  , First I feel so guilty that I didn't put my 100% positive  review for this company and for the best man and honest person long  time ago in Yelp or other webs . May be I was  lazy or busy person?   . Yes  "Greg "he is really the best  and professional  person I ever met in my whole life and in the business.I don't know How  I can describe this gentleman .   I live for many years  in this country and I do have my own business for over 20 years and I do deal with many peoples every day !!!!  In this city it is very very  heard to find honest and trustable person . This is my second review for 5 Star Computer Service.  After going to 5 Star for my first two computers and being totally satisfied, I went back when a totally different 3rd computer began showing problems. It wouldn't turn on normally and I didn't know what was wrong.  So, of course I took it to Greg who I knew would help with his usual kindness and expertise!  Unfortunately, the motherboard was fried.  There was nothing to be done about that.  When that goes, it's gone.  But, Greg told me the hard drive was fine and that I could take my files off it.  This was good news!  He even gave me advice on doing it myself.  That was really nice.  Once again, I am satisfied by his help, generosity and extensive computer knowledge.  I highly recommend his services.  He's trustworthy, fair and excellent at what he does.  You can't ask for more than that.
