Generally the first step is honesty. The next is awareness. Most nutritional guidance will turn into conversations surrounding our ideas around food and nutrition. Meal plans are a dime a dozen and will most likely fade as soon as motivation does (which most often happens quite quickly).

We work with people through conversations and problem-solving. Ultimately showing you how to create sustainable, habitual patterns that will lead you towards general well-being and "health."

Affekt is a unique private training space, focusing on a diverse, anti-dogmatic and sound approach to training.

Whether you are in-person one-on-one, small group training or part of our limited remote coaching service, Affekt offers comprehensive and coherent training sessions which are meant to invoke improvements in both tangible and intangible training measures.

Our training is constantly changing due to new information, experimentations and curiosity. Perhaps most of all our training is performed in an environment rich with a desire to learn, to work/train hard, and where we all pull for one another to just be better. Our motto is Effort - Inquiry - Insight. We take an approach to training which pours over the minutia of not only training itself, but who we are and who we could be because of it.

Affekt offers zero simplistic answers to complicated questions - come in the space, train your ass of for weeks, months, years, and see the dividends.

Progression and exploration of an individual. Through training we try to provide an environment and system that takes into account progression of both tangible and intangible training measures. Our coaching is intimate, there are very few rules we follow as to what a gym is "supposed to be." We train, we talk, we think together. This is all part of a collaborative project in an attempt to become better humans.

I've studied health/fitness since 19 years old, I've been lucky enough to find fantastic mentors such as Paul Chek, James Fitzgerald, Charles Poliquin, Connor Harris, Alex Effer, Bill Hartman, David Grey etc., I worked for years in everything from commercial gyms to privately owned studios to Powerlifting/Strongman gyms. I've done group training, one-on-one, remote coaching, consulting, I've even trained people in parks for free.

Through all of this I was consistently let down by the lack of initiative and creativity in the fitness space. I was honestly appalled at the "tricks" of the game, the dishonesty and the general lack of a desire to move the industry forward and to provide something new and useful.

Affekt was born out of necessity, because I felt like the industry was severely lacking in a space such as this: a space of honesty, integrity, inquiry and change. I didn't know what would happen when I opened it, what we do is not the norm, but over the course of starting and owning Affekt I feel vindicated that it is something useful and pure.

**I offer free trials of training. Typically this lasts anywhere between 1-2 weeks and includes an online intake form, range of motion and movement assessment, along with actual coaching sessions which are typically done in a one-on-one fashion (even if you are choosing a small group to train in).

If we don't provide what you need, or if you are not confident in gaining the results you desire, I will give you the name and number of various coaches around the Salt Lake area to hopefully find what you are looking for. What we do can't be explained unless you show up and get to work.

**Remote coaching services are very limited at Affekt. You will go through a comprehensive consultation/intake form, sign a waiver, and then train for 2 weeks minimum with a provided program of your choice. You are expected to ask questions, to clarify any confusion and to track your results.

We have, and will always keep a very clean, sterile environment for clientele. We consistently disinfect any/all areas we have used during the session, we keep an air purifier going throughout the session, we will often open the doors for fresh sunlight and air-flow. This is something we've always done and always will.

Services

Private training is hyper-individualized programming, nutritional guidance and lifestyle intervention coaching. You will be guided towards improvement in all areas of fitness and learning to care for the body in a holistic manner.

Affekt Lucida is an online subscription that only costs $25 per month (no contracts) which gives you access to "The Vault." A space and community for completely remote programming. The Vault contains weekly uploaded sessions that you can easily fit into an already-existing program, or use on its own for progression in all areas of training. Each training session is marked by date, and what the main areas of improvement we are aiming for. It is easy to use, simple to follow, contains reps, sets, rest, exercise selection and a growing video library of our nuanced exercises. For just $25 per month you can get a glimpse into how we progress in-person clients from inside our private training space. No better deal like it.

I am very selective on who I work with from a remote-private standpoint. I only allow for 5-7 individuals within my schedule. Group sessions typically contain anywhere from 2-5 people in order to maintain an intimate atmosphere. The programming is slightly individualized in order to ensure progression for everyone, no matter where you are starting from or what particular limitations you may be experiencing (painful joints, lack of endurance, limited exposure to training).
