I have been a Dj since 1970 and now work with my daughter Nikki. We love children's parties and Christenings. Weddings discos and parties for adults from 16 to 100 are taken in our stride with appropriate music and presentation that is very definitely family orientated.

There was great communication between ourselves before the event. We were asked to specify likes and dislikes and David stuck to them. He did play requests from guests even if they were different from our style of music which was fine and kept everybody happy. David supplied balloons and did a great job of entertaining the younger children modelling them into flowers, wings etc. I highly recommended David. More...

Disco Dave such a friendly welcoming man excellent communication who will do anything to make your day special and extra special. There was lots of childten at our wedding and david did balloon making and creative arts with them. He works really hard with us to make our dear fantastic his disco, equipment and his DVD recorder are amazing and what a friendly guy to work with been a pleasure and he made our day enjoyable and the one to remember. Kept in regular contact leading up to the event, offering us options , reviewing the playlist and putting in some party tunes to liven up the evening. The party started at 7pm and the dance floor was full from 7.15 onwards non stop until midnight. The DVD was a nice touch meaning we have some lovely memories of a fab 18th birthday celebration. I first got in touch with David and Nikki after attending a Christening where they were providing the entertainment. I work with children and young people and we have used David and Nikki around 5 times now and I have always been very impressed - great friendly booking service, no hassle on the day either, they just turn up and do their thing. Our parties are usually for mixed ages (from 1-18) and everyone loves the music, balloon modelling and face painting. The teens especially like the 'arm' paints too that Nikki does. I must say that Nikki really does the best face paining I have ever seen - she can create anything a child (or adult) asks for and the glitter and jewels really add a special touch. David can keep the kids entertained for hours and always has high energy doing a mixture of music, dancing, games and balloons. The 'guidelines' on the contract about games, food etc. was a godsend too. I would 100% use Black Night Disco for any party or event you're planning, you won't be disappointed! What’s the secret to keeping a party dancing all night long?
Reading the crowd. I concentrate on watching what is happening from the moment I arrive. Who is tapping their feet, who is shuffling their bum on a chair and to what style of music. People like to talk to each other before they consider dancing and this is just as important as "getting up and boogying"
How would you describe your ‘style’?
I am a party Dj being quite prepared to talk to an audience to keep them involved, but only saying what is needed. Once I have introduced myself, I then do not interrupt an audience conversation unnecessarily. But I do like people to come to talk to me and make requests. Later on when everyone is partying I will use my experience with the microphone to encourage them.
I like all styles of music and like it when I get a list of requests from the guests at a party before the function as well as during the event. This helps me plan the night.
What do you love most about your job?
As a Dj I love to see people dancing, but that is not always what is required for a good party. People need to be able to talk to each other, so if they enjoy that and not dancing it can still be classed as a great party and I have done my job.
What inspired you to start your own business?
Back in 1970 I learned to ballroom dance and with my parents stated a local village dance. As the girls also liked the music of the 60's I was asked to play some or their birthday parties. The disco had started and when I went to college the mobile equipment came with me and paid my way while studying. When the company I worked for in the 80s closed down the disco and in particular ballroom dancing music gave me a 6 day week earning money. Now I am very versatile playing to all ages from 4 through to 100 years old.

I have a great deal of experience of providing quality entertainment for all ages. It is not a hobby, but is taken seriously with pro quality equipment for sound and lighting. I confirm all functions in writing to give a client the best possible service.
I am very happy to have a face to face meeting before the event to discuss the clients requirements.
I hold £10,000,000 public liability insurance. All equipment is well maintained and PAT tested. I am CRB/DBS checked as I work with Children. I offer a true family orientated service.
