Julia is quite the character! She always adds so much humor and energy to her dance classes. She's very knowledgeable, but slows the pace during the beginners classes and makes sure the atmosphere is very relaxed for them. My fiance really appreciated that. We can't wait until our wedding in 2 weeks so we can get back to dancing salsa and learning from Julia!I personally have been ballroom dancing on and off since 2005, so I have seen Julia in a variety of different settings and used to go to her Friday dance parties quite often. It's so good to go to them because there are people of many ages and levels, so you always learn something new just from coming out to socialize and DANCE! I will go as far and say that the Friday classes are just as important if not more so than any group dance class you take with her. It's like learning a language and then going into the real world to put it to practice.We just knocked off one star because the back room used for some of the beginner's classes lacks good ventilation and one time we went for a class it smelled very strongly like smoke. Seems like someone was naughty! But we have each had enjoyable experiences with Julia, so that's why we would go back in a heartbeat. More...

Excellent dance studio! Julia was a wonderfully patient, adaptable, and a clear instructor and has quite the talent for choreography. She taught me the essentials to an elegant first dance for my wedding and treated us more like good friends than just clients-spending a lot of time getting to know us as a couple and inviting us to practice at all of the group classes, (though I did not get a chance to go to them). Forest, too, is equally kind and talented.The first dance that Julia choreographed received many many compliments from my guests and hooked Sean and I on taking future dance lessons. Julia and the other instructors at 1st Studio are well versed in teaching even those that don't think they can learn...to actually dance. There is a nice family feel here and the pricing structure is very reasonable. You pay one price a month and can come every Monday, Wednesday and Friday to any of the classes available - as well as the Friday social party where you can practice what you've learned as well as socialize with your fellow classmates and regulars that come. Snacks and drinks are available for Friday's social dance or you can bring your own. All in all, it's a fun way to spend your time learning to dance and having fun while doing so. And it doesn't take long before you start to feel and understand the sequences of moves you will learn. Highly recommended! More...

I love this studio! My whole life I was shy to dance and stood aside of dance floors. But after ~2 months of training, I realized that I already dance better than average person in a bar or a party. The Studio has a classes & individual program not only for beginners, but also for experienced dancers. You may come as a couple as well as a single person, there is about 50% single attendees of both genders. During the class, pairs constantly mixed to allow students to share their experience. But you also can come with your spouse/fiancee and tell you never switch. I also like their Friday parties, where you have fun with friends and opportunity to practice with really great dancers (teachers, winners of different kind), who never attend a classes as a students.I definitely recommend 1st Dance Studio to everyone who wants to learn to dance, also to improve theirs skills.
