We renovated our condo by replacing ceramic tile floor in our kitchen and hallway with hardwood, installing an Ikea kitchen with quartz counters, replacing floor tiles in two bathrooms and replacing a bath vanity. The kitchen also needed some rearranging of the drywall bulkheads and a number of pot lights were installed. I contacted Towne Contracting for a quotation based on the reviews on Homestars and also on the recommendation of a couple of local floor and tile suppliers. Steve quickly arranged to visit the condo and take photos and measurements. I was immediately impressed with his polite and professional manner and that he respected my knowledge of home renovation (instead of talking down to me which I have experienced from other contractors!). Steve provided a scope and quotation just a few days later and his price for the work I thought was very fair, so I looked no further.Towne arrived to start the work on the date promised and set up dust barriers around the work area. Removing the ceramic tile was messy and understandably produced a lot of noise, so we were especially thankful that Towne's crew worked without taking any breaks until they finished the removal, so our condo neighbours wouldn't suffer any longer than necessary! We had a few frustrations, most notably some days only one worker would show up for an hour or two, so I guess they were a little overloaded with work. For that they lose a star. Being somewhat of a perfectionist (and knowing how a job should be done) I did have a few gripes, but Steve made sure everything was ultimately to my satisfaction and we are very pleased with the end result. We worked with Dan and Steve for our kitchen renovation in mid-2013 and would highly recommend them. The project involved removing a load-bearing wall, updating the baseboards and smoothing the stucco ceilings on the entire main floor, relocating plumbing, converting the cooktop to gas, and more! They are very professional, do quality work and go above and beyond to give advice to make sure your project is a success. Towne renovated my family home that 30 years old. The floor throughout the main floor, kitchen, 2 full bathrooms, 1 powder room, family room, living room, and dining room. Inclusive of pot lights, door trims, crown moldings, window trims and baseboards. Also remade our fireplace and ran gas to it, the stove and outside to my BBQ. Installed our new appliances and upgraded our fuse box all ac outlets to be kid proof, dimmers for pot lights, and wire for speakers and installed in wall speakers in the family room Additionally networked the house with cat6 and cable rg60 to multiple rooms. Removed the pop corn ceilings and refinished hardwood floors. They even found the new door hardware we were looking for replacing all door handles on every door. These guy have been awesome to work with. Delivered within timeframes and did the job right and gave me honest recommendations along the way and let me know of additional costs. However weekly updates on cost updates would have been better to keep track via email but it was a hustle to get us in time for Christmas. All and all our house is amazing and everyone loves it. We are very pleased and impressed with the work they did. We would continue to use Towne and recommend to our family and friends. They worked well with our designers on the phone an via email. These guys are like family and welcome in our house anytime! They even came back to help on an emergency pipe that was leaking and replaced ceiling tiles ruined in the basement. I hope I got it all. We hired Towne contracting after our basement sustained some massive damage in the "great flood" of 2013. After receiving quotes from several contractors Steve was recommended through a friend and he came up with the most elegant and fairly priced solutions to all of our requests and concerns. Towne Contracting renovated our kitchen and family room area, doing some structural work to remove walls, as well as doing a complete kitchen reno. They completely transformed our space. The kitchen went from being the most problematic or weakest part of our home to being our favourite space. Everyone involved in the project did excellent work. The contractors were highly skilled, and very considerate. They made a very disruptive renovation much less difficult. The reno started on schedule. When there were delays that were beyond the contractor's control (e.g., the countertops took longer to come in), they were extremely good about keeping us informed and letting us know what to expect. This past fall we hired Towne Contracting to complete our main bathroom renovation. Our concern in the past with any hired contractor was always with customer service. We would call for a quote and it would take weeks for someone to return our call and then through the process they would not keep in touch etc. Towne contracting excels in this regard and they understand the importance of communication being a priority in any renovation. We were also extremely impressed with the cleanliness during the project. On a daily basis Towne contracting cleaned up after themselves and never did we feel that we were undergoing a renovation that impeded our daily life. From the time we met Steve for the initial quote and organization of the project, to Milan as our main contact throughout the renovation we can only say that their advice in the process was always very professional and they took the time to make sure that we were always satisfied with our decisions. Towne Contracting was the general contractor for our recent house renovations that included a total removal, remodel and expansion of our kitchen, removal and remodel of the master bedroom ensuite, main bathroom and powder room. In planning and working through the quote for the work, Steve was very open to our ideas and provided some great alternatives for us to think about. Steve dropped by the house on numerous occasions to meet with us, take us through the plans, tell and show us what would be happening. It was very comforting to see and hear about Steve’s ideas and to have a good appreciate of the work involved. He was very patient with us, which relieved some of the pressure one experiences in proceeding with the cost and disruptions that come with a major house renovation. As we received and reviewed the quote with Steve, we were very comfortable proceeding.As the work began, there was extensive demolition involved. Dan and his team we excellent in sealing off the work areas and working around our schedules (while we lived down stairs) to complete the work in short order – amazing. As we began the new construction, Dan provided daily reports on work completed and planned for the next day. We always knew what was happening and it was great seeing the progress from day to day. As with any renovation, you always run into situations that need to be re-visited, discussion, compromises required, etc. Dan was always there for us – covering the details, talking through options, providing recommendations and in some cases accommodating our changes of mind. Dan and Tom were an incredible pleasure to work with. They treated my small bathroom reno as if it were a project ten times its value. Their work was dealt with a measure of great pride and it showed in the outstanding results. The space for my bathroom was an unusual configuration, but it never fazed Dan/Tom who have now made it by far the best looking bathroom in the house. We planned a complete overhaul of a 2200 sq foot condominium following our retirement. Steve's team at Towne Contracting was able to deliver on our vision, making our project a huge success. Renovations are never easy as even with a designer it is never possible to plan every detail and every obstacle in advance. However, there are 3 reasons why we would highly recommend Towne Contracting:

1. Flexibility
Steve's team showed tremendous flexibility as plans changed and unforeseen circumstances presented themselves. They also did a great job working with a designer they had never met and a condo management team with very strict rules. We also hired a separate company for our flooring and Steve worked very well in liaising with them.

2. Quality
They didn't stop until everyone was happy with the final product, and took pride in their work. This is very important in a business where some contractors try to get in and out as quickly as possible. The project went on longer than expected, but this was largely because of the scope of the project got larger with time.

3. Pricing
Their pricing is very competitive for the quality that was delivered.
We added many additional jobs from our original contract, and Steve was very flexible in pricing these.

I have gone through numerous renovations and home projects involving a contractor and none have come close to the expertise and execution that Towne Contracting provided. Living in an older city home I had only one washroom located on the 2nd floor and decided to extend the front of the house to allow for a powder room on the main floor and an en-suite on the 2nd floor. After the experiences I had with other contractors I wanted to rely on more than one opinion which lead me to the Homestars website and ultimately Towne Contracting. Towne contracting had extremely detailed and reasonable quotes when compared to the other contractors. From Steve's friendly demeanour, detailed and reasonable quote, and well a ton of very happy reviews from Homestars, it made only sense to go with Towne Contracting.This project was highly complicated from all angles; involving strict city regulations, permits, engineers and basically every trade necessary to build a house. That being said I base my 10/10 review on the following categories which i think any veteran home renovator will agree with:1)Craftsmanship and overall quality of work

Towne Contracting is a company that is genuinely concerned that you are completely satisfied with your final product.We needed to completely re-do our upstairs main bathroom this past summer. We have all heard the stories of renovations gone horribly wrong- so I was a bit nervous about hiring a contracting company that we have not worked with before. After our experience with Steve Meze and his crew at Towne Contracting, it turns out that we had nothing to worry about. They took care of us right until the end.During the renovations, there were a couple of things we were not satisfied with. The bath/shower area was a challenge since our walls are quite uneven- and we unfortunately chose an overparticular I-inch glass mosaic running up to the ceiling, combined with a wave-like tile. The first time around did not go as planned. For anyone. But I knew it wasn't going to be a problem- and it wasn't. The next day it was re-done, and at no extra charge. Then the light fixtures didn't end up exactly where we wanted them initially- again no problem- the next day they were simply moved to the right spot.After all, when doing renovations, you are the one that has to live with it. The best compliment I could give Steve and Dan from Towne is that I would absolutely hire them again (and I will next year for the basement reno! !!). You will not find a more honest and reliable contractor... no job too big or too small. They say what they'll do and they do what they say. In addition to a full kitchen reno, they blew out my back door and window and installed beautiful 10' patio doors, they moved a load bearing wall, they redid stairs, they refinished floors, they installed appliances. And you know what, they became like family after a while, because they treated my family and I with such respect, it was like having "Cousins Steve, Dan" and the boys working in my house. They were on budget and super trustworthy. And best of all, the end result looks AMAZING... we get breathless comments on our reno all the time... I've already referred Towne to a couple I've known for 30 years, and they too were happy with their reno. I will post some pics soon. Steve and his team did a great job renovating the spare bathroom in our condo. We did a complete overhaul, replaced the vanity, all the fixtures, tiles, toilet and repainting. They knocked out our walled-in shower and replaced it with a glass surround and ceiling drop rain shower, which really opened up the dark claustrophobic space. Not only did they perform a good quality job, they made the process so convenient for us. We only spent one weekend shopping for tiles and vanity, and then they picked up all the items when they were ready to install. There was no need for us to schedule any time off work to wait for delivery. When the light fixture that we chose did not work with the bathroom, I sent a photo of our alternative choice from Home Depot and Steve offered to pick it up for us. Steve gave us an update daily. The project took just over a week. We love our bathroom and now my husband and I fight over who gets to use the spare bathroom. We plan to have Towne Contracting come in again to renovate our master ensuite bathroom soon, and I'm confident they will do an excellent job. More...

WHY TOWNE CONTRACTING?
We chose Towne Contracting to do our main bathroom renovation (complete gut) after checking with several other contractors on HomeStars and a few outside of HomeStars. Steve was among the select number of contractors to actually get back to me for a quote where others would say they'd call back to meet, but never did.Towne Contracting had one of the more competitive quotes out there and after asking what methods and materials they use for things like waterproofing, checking references and looking at the work in-person at one house, they were chosen for the bathroom renovation. What set them apart was their knowledge of building materials, offering helpful suggestions and options, and easygoing attitude.Speaking with Steve, I was please to hear that he mentioned using DenShield (shower walls) and DITRA (under floor tiles) for waterproofing (sometimes other contractors would either mention products used for older methods of installing or not at all as if it's of no importance to the customer). I also requested that Schluter KERDI-BAND be used on the wall tile backer seams and along the floor edges for extra water tightness after coming across an informative video on Schluter's website and learning about the product.THE RENOVATION
The scope of the job was a complete gut including: installing new floor tile, wall tile (including mosaic border and chair rail), tub & shower trim kit, vanity & sink, toilet, medicine cabinet, vanity light fixture, new exhaust fan (with a neat timer switch), priming/painting, and toilet paper holder & towel bars. They also checked into our tub plumbing not draining well plus some other little additional things we requested along the way (installing a new door, new door/window trim). Additionally, they added insulation on the outer facing wall and fixed exposed wires (thank you for pointing this safety hazard out) in our attic with a new junction box.We had primarily Steve and Milan on-site for the renovation with Andre and Mike to help out. The bathroom was completely gut in one day. They were good about keeping things tidy by laying down an adhesive blue protective sheet along the floor, vacuuming, tidying up their tools, and taking the garbage with them.Most of the materials we had purchased, but Towne Contracting helped source out the chair rail, pick up our bathtub, toilet, and tiles we selected as they were able to get a slightly better price since they have a contractors discount (keep that in mind if you're planning to select and buy your materials).Punctuality was acceptable with the "crew" (2 - small bathroom) arriving around the same time each morning unless they were out picking up materials and left no later than 5-6pm (on the few long days - usually finished earlier as they're pretty quick).With the house being 50 years old, we ran into some issues with not having any insulation behind the outer facing wall and Towne Contracting was great at offering a number of solutions along with prices in order to make a decision. The job was delayed a few days due to trying to source out some materials, waiting for some things to arrive on order and a big snowfall one day which is totally understandable. Along the way they had some questions about how high or where to place things and we appreciated that communication. They also provided some great ideas and solutions about how far to run the mosaic border around the room (good call guys!) and coming up with solutions for our tricky IKEA vanity & sink plumbing (note: try to avoid IKEA vanities if you can as the plumbing is not to North American standards) which turned out fine in the end.As we tested out our bathroom while the reno was nearing its completion, we noticed a few things like a leak coming from the tub overflow which they were quick to address along with any other issues. We are happy to say our tub now drains unbelievably quick after changing the plumbing which had build-up inside after years and years (even though it's older 1 1/4"? plumbing vs the 1 1/2" standard) compared to before where after a shower there'd be a pool of water about 1-2 inches high and take several minutes to drain.It's such a pleasure to use our bathroom now. No longer do we have to go on vacation to use a decent bathroom! The finishing of the work is just beautiful and we love the look of the mosaic and chair rail. It was really a night and day transformation of our bathroom and we thank Steve and Milan for doing an amazing job. Their easy-going personalities, professionalism and knowledge made it an enjoyable experience.We will be in touch with Towne Contracting again when it comes time to fix our other bathroom and any other jobs in the future. After three houses and over a dozen significant renovation projects I can tell you that I am very pleased that we elected to go with Towne for two complete washroom overhauls.
They did excellent quality work and stayed within the budget. They are organized, neat, and very clean and they offered helpful opinions that enhanced the projects. The only negative is that they were slower than expected but that is reflected in the quality of the work they do.

Dan and Steve are finishing our basement today, and I wanted to express how pleased my fiancé and I are with their workmanship and professionalism. We received 7 different quotes for the work on our basement. Two of those companies walked in, looked horrified by the situation, and gave us on the spot quotes (bad sign imo). Dan and Steve showed up, said “we can do that” and “here’s how we’d do it”. Amazing. Dan and Steve stayed on budget, on time, and worked around two other contractors (one for spray-foaming, and one for tiled floors). My fiancee and I hired Towne contacting to renovate our bathroom and fame/drywall a new wall in the den after a friend recommended them. Not only are these guys professional, friendly and down to earth, but we were also blown away by the exceptional work and service that Steve and his team put forth throughout the entire renovation process. He was able to offer tips and pointers to help save us money, and was honest and realistic about our budget and the time restrictions we were working with. When Steve and his team came in to work, they were respectful of our home and always cleaned up after they were done for the day. We were pleasantly greeted by a clean home every night (no drywall dust anywhere!!). They worked quickly and efficiently and stuck to the timelines that they initially quoted us at. We truly appreciate their flexibility and honesty.We initially had a few awkward areas in our bathroom, and Steve and his team were able to offer creative suggestions that worked so well! The tiling was laid flawlessly, and we appreciate the care Towne Contracting put in when working on our home. They were even friendly enough to offer my fiancee tips on how to properly put in a transition piece on our hardwood floors (although they weren't even working on the floors!). Simply put, all of the guys (Steve, Dan and Milan) are knowledgeable, experienced, budget minded, respectful, and just overall good people. The ideas Steve and Milan put forth complimented mine for a kitchen addition and the end product turned out brilliantly and far exceeded my high expectations. Steve and Milan did an excellent job on our 2 bathrooms. They were able to get both bathrooms done under the estimated time and at a lower cost than the original estimate. Their workmanship was excellent. They were able to make the necessary adjustments to some of the items I had purchased to give me the end results I was looking for. I found it a pleasure dealing with them. They were very professional and respectful. Living in a condo can have its' challenges when it comes to renovations. Steve was very understanding when it came to the condo rules and the individuals he had to deal with. I also appreciated the turnaround time whenever I left him a message. We retained the services of Towne Contracting for a major renovation project in our house. After comparing a number of quotes, we decided to go with Steve and his team as we were convinced they would do the best quality of work at a reasonable price. Overall, Steve, Milan, and Dan did an excellent job and we were greatly impressed with their professional attitude and attention to detail. Steve and the team gutted and renovated the bathroom in my loft. They were polite, professional, knowledgable about the needs of condo owners (and my condo board! ), and delivered a fantastic result.They re-built a beautiful new walk in shower, storage unit, and installed a fantastic vanity and toilet. Steve was recommended to me by a neighbour who had some renovations done in her condo. Steve came to my place, reviewed the job, and gave me a few options. He kept in mind the budget that I had for the work and was flexible when I changed my mind about the counter top and the breakfast bar after the job was started. What impressed me most was how cleanly Steve and his colleagues worked. They vacuumed and cleaned the area at the end of each day. This was important as removing a wall between the kitchen and the living room was quite a messy job and I needed to use the kitchen during the two weeks work.
