Are you planning a holiday and trying to decide how to arrange care for your pet(s)? I have been a live-in pet sitter for the past 7 years, where I care for pets as though they are my own. I like to live in the pets' homes because I believe that most pets benefit from remaining in familiar surroundings.

We engaged Sue to dog-sit for our 15 year old Border Collie Caisy for 3 weeks. Caisy has never stayed with anyone other than close family, she is somewhat spoiled, and she has some "special" habits, so we were quite nervous at how the engagement would go.
Fortunately, it went extremely well.
After a short period when Sue and Caisy got to know each other and their habits, we had no concerns at all. Sue kept us well informed via email as to how everything was going, and we were able to provide some advice throughout. But by all accounts, the two of them got along well, and Sue was very devoted to Caisy.
Sue also met several of the neighbours and got along well with them. The neighbours all said they were very impressed by the amount of time Sue spent playing and interacting with Caisy.
When we returned, Caisy was a little confused at first, but very quickly re-adapted to us.
Bottom line, we would definitely recommend Sue if you have the need for an extended dog-sit.

What do you love most about your job?
I have fallen in love with most of the animals I have cared for. I can't say that I love all dogs or all cats...But i do expect that living with a pet will be interesting and engaging. They are great companions and can become good friends. I love hiking and so dogs that enjoy long walks offer me a special kind of out door companionship.
What inspired you to start your own business?
I am retired at the moment. But I started doing pet sitting as a way to travel. At first I applied for pet sitting using a barter system and that let me travel more cheaply to England and Scottland. No money was exchanged, but I got to travel and explore new places. Now I am living in Toronto and set my service up as a business because I enjoy the company of cats and dogs; now days I prefer doing pet sitting in rural areas where the fresh and a peaceful countryside are calling me to walk dogs through the woodland trails. However, if you live in Toronto, I might still be available.
Why should our clients choose you?
I am a retired social worker, trained to listen and understand what people need. I am also a good communicator with a warm friendly personality. My honesty leads people to trust me, which is key to providing such a service. Life experience is another strength: I have been a home owner, a mother and recently became a grandmother. My pet sitting experiences have included the need to address challenges that require action. An experienced pet sitter knows how to manage unexpected events such as an appliance break down or a pet needing to see a vet.

I am willing to sit for a week or more in rural Ontario. While I live in the big city of Toronto, I love hiking and the companionships of dogs who can hike with me. I am active, affectionate and attentive with pets and a trustworthy older adult. My 7 years of experience and great pet owner reviews testify to the fact that your home and pets will be safe with me.

Since I will be living in your home as a pet sitter, I will also ensure that your home is safe. We will need to sign a simple written agreement to clarify a way that we will will address the possibility that something might get damaged under my watch. I don't have much experience with such problems, but it is always a good idea to plan for the "what ifs.." in life. Trust is key to this service; I expect to be interviewed using internet video conferencing like Zoom.
