We hired Leen to be our wedding photographer here in Calgary at Reader’s Rock Garden. Look it up, it’s a beautiful spot just south of stampede park. We thought that the price is right and she advertised on her webpage to be a wedding photographer. A week before our wedding we had a Zoom call with Leen to discuss some details of the event. This call of 15 minutes was interrupted several times by her children needing her attention. We understand that children always come first. So if I don’t have the time to give them he necessary attention, maybe I shouldn’t schedule a business call/meeting at the same time.
When our big day came, I couldn’t get a hold of Leen over the phone and her voicemail was not set up. About 50 minutes before the ceremony started, she finally called and asked for directions. She had several weeks to figure out how to get there and not ask the groom for turn by turn directions on this important day. When she finally arrived, she told me that she thought that the wedding was on on the day before and she drove out there just to find out that there was no wedding. So, if she drove out the previous day, how did she not have proper directions the day of…..?
And now to the pictures. In one of her texts to me she stated “I take about over 1000 images and send you most likely 700 to pick your final 250-300 images both in color and b/w.” We received a total of 427 raw pictures, half of which were either blurry, too dark, too bright or with tree branches across peoples faces. We were under the impression that a good, or even a mediocre, photographer has an eye for location, lighting and setting within a beautiful garden like the Reader’s Rock. Leen has none of that. She brought besides sub-standard equipment also an off putting attitude as well as the the required skill or talent to our special day. Some of our guests took better pictures on their cell phones than what she produced.
After she gave us access to the watermarked pictures with the promise to have viewing access for a few weeks, we asked her if these were all the pictures she took. She didn’t seem to care for our criticism and canceled the link to the pictures immediately. Now we were being held hostage. Either we pay the full amount (we tried negotiating the final bill), or she wouldn’t release the pictures to us. Since we had no choice, we ended up paying in full and she released what can only be called a substandard product to us.
Oh ya, I almost forgot, during the photoshoot I asked her to take pictures during the dinner and the speeches and she actually asked if she was invited to said dinner……. If I knew what I know now, I wouldn’t let her take my wedding pictures 😤 More...

We understand how important this day was to you. To answer your few concerns here. Firstly, We could not answer your call while driving on Deerfoot trail, as we approached the red light on 25th ave SE, we simply asked if it was right turn? (During the consultation we were told to call once there so either Maik's daughter or her partner can meet us in the parking lot to bring us up where the wedding was taking place). Yes, we had a detailed consultation over the phone but previous to our consultation youI were advised that my children may be in the background, to which you mentioned that was totally fine and understandable. The equipment that was brought to your wedding was what was required for the package (3 Hour Wedding) that you purchased, which was camera and two lenses. As we go through the images once again not a single image has any branches across faces, Although we can understand your concern with unbecoming angles as your gallery was sent as raw images (not edited-post production would eliminate that issue). Your access to the gallery is open for 4-5 weeks and for a typical 8 hour wedding day we take about 1000-2000 images; we would greatly appreciate that you send the said text screenshot and images that has branches to our email at stillzbyleen@gmail.com to confirm accuracy and improve our services. Whilst our team thinks that the images taken are immaculate that magically symbolize both of your love which was commemorated on that big day. Our final point, while we truly appreciate guests taking/adding pictures from different angles and lighting with their phones; 203 out of 427 images are alone (taken by Leen) of the bride, groom, their daughter and son where no guests were present to take images with their phones. We hope we can use your recommendations and concerns to improve our services in the future. Thank you so much for your feedback.

Though I'm not familiar with my angels she was which makes a world of a difference in having good headshots. Being somewhat of a perfectionist this was a major concern for me. Leen was great to work with, very good communication with us in the weeks leading up to the wedding to make sure everything went perfectly! On the day of the wedding she was very organized and made sure that all the family and wedding party members had a chance to take pictures with us but also made sure we had tons of time for pictures of just us.
